Starting the Aircraft

Engineer’s Panel 

  • Bus Ties 1, 2, 3 ON 
  • Battery Bus ON 
  • Start Valve N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Cross Feed 1, 2 ON 
  • Main Tank 1, 4 ON 
  • Forward Engineering Panel ON 
  • Wing, Center Tank Auto Balance ON 
  • Observe fuel gauges on overhead panel. Wait for them to balance out. 
  • Wing, Center Tank Auto Balance OFF 
  • Boost Pump N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Gen Drive N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Gen Bus N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • EEC N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Afterburner N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Hydraulic Pump N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • APU Start ON 
  • Observe APU EGT and Generator Output and wait for these readings to stabilize.

 
Overhead Panel 

  • Pack 1, 2 ON 
  • Bleed Air N1, N2, N3, N4 ON 
  • Upper Engineering Panel Lights ON

 
Center Console 

  • Flaps ON 
  • Transponder ON 
  • Radar ON

 
Overhead Panel 

  • Set lights as needed. 
  • Aileron FLT Control ON 
  • Rudder FLT Control ON 
  • Elevator FLT Control ON

 
Center Console 

  • Throttle 30.00 Idle

 
Overhead Panel 

  • N1 Starter ON 
  • N4 Starter ON 
  • Isolation Valve ON

 
Engineer’s Panel 

  • Observe N1 and N4 RPS and wait for them to stabilize.

 
Overhead Panel 

  • N1 Starter OFF 
  • N4 Starter OFF 
  • N2 Starter ON 
  • N3 Starter ON

 
Engineer’s Panel 

  • Observe N2 and N3 RPS and wait for them to stabilize.

 
Overhead Panel 

  • N2 Starter OFF 
  • N3 Starter OFF 
  • Isolation Valve OFF

 
Engineer’s Panel 

  • APU Start OFF
