Are you having a tough time fighting the Ruin? If you are, this guide may be able to help you!

Preparation

The Ruin is indeed a tough boss. It’s technique is to overwhelm you, so you need to prepare for that. Here are my recommendations:

Weaponry:

-A good sword. I’d say about 30+ damage, with a super spin slash.
-Firestorm’s Fury. You WILL need this. You can get it from Nuru’s final gladiator quest. It has good damage, and a flamethrower ability, which you will really need.
-Rocket Launcher. While melee gets the job done, you can bring along some ranged weapons too if that’s what you’d like. Since I don’t usually use a rocket launcher, I can’t say a good damage range. 30 or above is probably fine.

Armor:

Good armor is key for this boss. Because of the high amounts of enemies, you will need the armor’s better damage, and health. I recommend you get tier 5 or 6 armor.

Healing:

-Strong fast healing. If you get to a critical health level, you’ll need something to boost your health, and fast. Nano Wrap is good for this.
-Strong slow healing. If you get to a low health level, you’ll want a strong healing item. medical kits are good for this, since they heal a good amount, and remove most negative effects.
-Weak fast healing. Being at full health is good. If you lost some health that you want to get back fast, this is a good idea.
-Weak slow healing. If you lost a little health that you just want back, bring a weak slow healing item.

Misc:
-Distortion sphere. You’ll find Asra Nox when you reach the Ruin’s heart. You need to bring your Distortion sphere to dodge her attack.
-Double Jump. You probably already have this. Asra has her charge attack, so you’ll need a double jump to avoid it.
-Strong Matter Manipulator. You’ll need a strong MM because these blocks are smarter- I mean stronger than the average block. A more powerful MM can mine these faster. You won’t want to get stuck like me.

Of course, it’s your choice. Bring whatever here you want! These are just my recommendations. If there’s a weapon you like, by all means bring it along.

The Ruin’s Attacks

This is where things get more difficult. For now, I will show you a list of attacks:

-Beam attack. The Ruin fires out a beam below. You are given a signal to when it will fire, and it’s radius. Run to either side, and you should be safe.

-Tentacle-thing-a-majig. The Ruin will try to attack you from one of it’s sides. The tentacle doesn’t really go very far, and you’ll know when it’s about to do so. Just move away from the area, and you’ll be fine.

-Entity spawner. This spawns a few entities you’ll see on the surface. The type of enemy is what concludes the amount spawned. You can tell when this attack is used. It can also be used while a different attack is being used.

-Biome Entity Spawner. This attack spawns a few enemies from a biome. You can tell when it will use this, because it’s eye will show a biome. This attack cannot be used while a different one is being used.

The Surface

The surface can be a little tricky. I’ll be calling everything that is not the boss, “the surface” because of the fact that’s what it’s called. I think. Oh well, I’ll still be calling it that.

You’ll spawn on the surface’s surface, and then you want to wander around. Keep out your Firestorm’s Fury, because you’ll need the flamethrower ability. Incinerate anything that gets in your way. Once you find a cave that leads to the inner surface, you’ll need to head inside. Avoid poison, as that can be an annoying thing to deal with if you don’t have a healing augment. From then on, just continue heading down. Fight any enemies that bother you, as picking fights with things just minding their own business can pick away at your health.

Eventually, you’ll receive a message from S.A.I.L. that tells you that there’s a vast chasm beneath you. It also tells you to try and avoid falling to your death. (Thank you for not telling us how to avoid falling to death.)

After you receive that message, look around for some goo. Avoid going down holes where you can’t see the bottom. You’ll likely die. When you find your goo, mine until it starts falling down. Stay on it the whole time.

When you reach the bottom, head left or right. Either way is fine.

Eventually the pathway will sloping downwards. Head down, and walk until you see the boss door. Inside, there will be a checkpoint for if you die. Get your hotbar set up, and walk inside!

The Heart

The Ruin’s Heart has a lot of fighting included. It will try to overwhelm you with the entities it spawns, so be careful about that. I ended up getting distracted by them, and didn’t fight the boss. It also includes dodging. When the beam is getting readied up, run to the side. There’s not much else to say. Fight the enemies is spawns with your Firestorms’ Fury, and use your super spin slash on the Ruin. Good luck!

End

Don’t get mad if you don’t kill it right away! It’s the last boss in the game. This thing is designed to be hard. Keep trying, and take a break when you need to. You can always come back to the game later. Anyway, let me know if this helps!
