Here is one possible late-game setup that I came up with a few years ago. If it’s helpful to you, awesome!

I made the above ranch layout using the “Slime Rancher Planner” online.

This was a setup I found on an old save-game file from a few years ago. I thought it was a pretty good setup – all slime types and foods are present, drones are picking up plorts and depositing food in every area, and the placement of teleporters and other resources makes for easy movement. Drones can deposit to the Market, Resource Link, or Silo. There is at least Silo present in each area to store extra food, plorts, etc. – for example, if you want to save up Plorts before selling them to the Plort Market to allow the prices to stabilize, or if you’re collecting Plorts to unlock areas, or pop Gordos.

Sure, there’s probably an even better setup, but if this setup helps you, I figured I’d share it. Feel free to improve upon it or share your ideas in the comments!

Using the labels on the sections in the image above, here is what I have in each area:

F1 – The Docks:

  • 2 Ponds with Puddle Slimes
  • 1 Incinerator with Fire Slimes
  • Silo
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Puddles
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Incinerators
  • Market Link
  • Resource Link
  • Teleporter to F6 (The Lab) – Makes for easier traveling around ranch.

Notes:

  • You can only have two drones per area, so keeping the Puddles and Incinerators together allows your Drones to pick up plorts from both, without needing to worry about another Drone to feed slimes in corrals.

F2 – The Overgrowth:

  • 1 Corral with 5 Pink-Tangle Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Garden growing Odd Onions (& Carrots)
  • 1 Coop with 2 Roostros and 2 each of every other HenHen type
  • Silo
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Plort Collectors
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Odd Onions and place them in Auto-Feeders
  • Market Link
  • Resource Link

Notes:

  • Auto-feeding is set to Medium on all of the corrals because, with Deluxe gardens you won’t run out of food at this speed and the Slimes will always be fed.
  • The Pink-Tangle combination is especially good in mid game in the Overgrowth. You can omit the Coop and/or Garden and place additional Corrals with more Pink-Tangle Slimes if you wish. The Pink-Tangles will feed themselves (using the Tangle ability) from outside the corral – and since they’re combined with Pink they will eat the chickens and carrots that are “wild” in The Overgrowth.
  • The Coop is to save up chickens. Every day, put 2 Roostros and 2 each of all other HenHen types in the Coop. Leave chickadoos, remove Elders. Put any extra HenHens in the silo, this is your collection to do whatever you want with. Get rid of the Elders.
  • It may be easier movement-wise to switch the places of the Silo and Garden if you are farming HenHens.

F4 – Ranch Home:

  • 1 Corral with 5 Rock-Boom Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Corral with 5 Rock-Saber Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Corral with 5 Rad-Crystal Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 2 Gardens growing Heart Beets
  • 1 Garden growing Oca Ocas
  • 2 Silos
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Plort Collectors
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Veggies and place them in Auto-Feeders
  • Market Link
  • Resource Link
  • Teleporter to The Indigo Quarry (Not needed if you use the one outside The Grotto)

Notes:

  • Since all of the Slimes in this area eat Veggies, even if they run out of food and the Drone puts the wrong food in their Auto-Feeder, they will still be able to eat it. To set up the correct Favorite Food for each Corral, fill the Auto-Feeder as much as you can with the Favorite Food. Then, the Drone will only place matching food in the Auto-Feeder (until it runs out, then it could place the “wrong” food in it).

F6 – The Lab:

  • 1 Corral with 5 Tabby-Dervish Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Corral with 5 Honey-Tangle Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Garden growing Prickle Pears
  • 1 Garden growing Mint Mangos
  • 1 Silo
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Plort Collectors
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Fruits and place them in Auto-Feeders
  • Market Link
  • Resource Link
  • Teleporter to The Moss Blanket (Handy Lab location, for after crafting Apiaries to place)
  • Teleporter to The Glass Desert
  • Teleporter to The Ancient Ruins
  • Teleporter to F1 (The Lab)

Notes:

  • Honey-Tangles are far enough away in this location that their Honey Plorts aren’t at risk of being picked up by Tabby-Dervish, and they can’t reach the Gardens to steal fruit with the Tangle ability.
  • Since all of the Slimes in this area eat Fruits, even if they run out of food and the Drone puts the wrong food in their Auto-Feeder, they will still be able to eat it. To set up the correct Favorite Food for each Corral, fill the Auto-Feeder as much as you can with the Favorite Food. Then, the Drone will only place matching food in the Auto-Feeder (until it runs out, then it could place the “wrong” food in it).

F7 – The Grotto:

  • 1 Corral with 5 Hunter-Quantum Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Corral with 5 Phosphor-Mosaic Slimes, auto-feeding set to Medium
  • 1 Garden growing Cuberry
  • 1 Garden growing Phase Lemons
  • 1 Silo
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Plorts from Plort Collectors
  • 1 Drone set to pick up Fruits and place them in Auto-Feeders
  • Market Link
  • Resource Link
  • Teleporter to The Indigo Quarry (Outside the cave past the Phase Lemons)

Future improvements

All that said, what would I improve on in the future?

  • What to do with Ogden’s Retreat, Mochi’s Manor, and Viktor’s Workshop? – Honestly, in this save file, I’ve done everything else in the game, collected all the Gold Plorts but haven’t sold them, unlocked all the 7Zee rewards, and I still haven’t unlocked the Mochi’s Manor ranch or Viktor’s Workshop ranch. 😛
  • Possibly using Ogden’s Retreat for improved chicken farming.

  1. Why do you have two Rock Largos in the main ranch when you can use crystals to make more money? Also, you should use the pond in the Docks as another spot for Puddle Slimes. That way you can also have two fire slimes.
