The default settings for Slime Rancher 2 surprised me. It doesn't run well out of the box.
 
These settings were adjusted for 5 minutes and I was able to double my FPS.
 
 

Display Settings

Although display settings are intuitive, you should double-check them!
 
 
Resolution: Select your native resolution (to the highest)
 
 
Fullscreen and VSYNC Disabled are my recommendations. This is especially important if your adaptive sync or Gsync screen monitor has this feature. This applies to all games, not just Slime Rancher.
 
 
Framerate limit: 144 is the optimal setting for most PCs.
 
 
FOV: This is your personal preference. You can choose what you prefer. 90is a good option if you are at least 2-3 feet from your monitor. If you are seated far from your TV, choose a lower number 70-80.
 
 
Overscan: What is the purpose of this in a 2022 game? Go awayyy!
 
 

 
 
 

Graphics Settings

 
These settings should work if you are playing at 1440p using a mid-range GPU such as me (, RTX2060S, or RTX3060 –
 
 
I went from 30FPS up to 60FPS. You can optimize even further. Please experiment.
 
 
Start with the Top-most setting as MEDIUMMEDIUM You can then tweak it from there.
 
 
ShadersShaders HIGH It doesn't cost me much FPS with my card. It's worth it.
 
 
Antialiasing OFF is my personal preference.
 
 
Chromatic Aberration: Disabled, This will significantly improve your FPS. It also improves visual clarity by disabling it. It's really stupid to have it on by default.
 
 
Ambient Occlusion: Normal. Although this is a costly service, the visual benefits are well worth it.
 
 
Textures:Textures: HIGH, You can set textures medium or low if you have less than 8GB VRAM
 
 

 
 
 

Input Settings

This is crucial!
 
 
Mouse Smoothing: DISABLED
 
If you don't have any other ideas, please do this one.
 
It is absurd that smoothing is enabled by default. Smoothing can cause significant input lag. Modern games have this option by default. I hope future patches will fix this oversight.
 
 
Mouse Look Sensitivity: This is a quick reminder to adjust the mouse sensitivity until it suits your style. Ignore the value that I chose.
