Hello and welcome, We hope you find the following page, in which we detail the Silica – Beginners Guide for Gameplay Overview and Tutorial., informative.
This guide serves as a tutorial for new players/users.
Playing as Human Faction
Your job as a replaceable bit of meat, be it Human or Alien, is to attack your enemy’s base and prevent its destruction. Simple as that.
There are several structures at your disposal to assist you in achieving these goals
Only the commander may build said structures :
Human [Sol / Centauri]
- Headquarters
- Refinery
- Barracks
- Light Vehicle Factory
- Heavy Vehicle Factory
- Ultra Heavy Factory
Headquarters
The first structure you come across at the start of any game. It’s a construction yard where your commander can build new structures.
The headquarters and buildings which produce your units are the locations where you can respawn.
In the event that a tragic accident at work occurs.
You can also use a Teleporter .
Refinery
The Refinery is the only place where you can harvest balterium. This is the main resource for your commander to use when building AI controlled units and structures.
The game comes with the balterium harvester, which can be used by other players.
To do this walk under harvester. It will deploy ramp if you have stationary.
When inside, get on top of the harvester. Press E at the front door.
Hold down the left mouse key to begin drilling balterium.
You can see your Balterium-Storage-Unit under the landing platform.
To deposit balterium you can drive back to the platform at a refinery. It will deposit automatically.
Barracks
The Barracks gives you the option to change your infantry for free class at an purchase terminal that is located on the front part.
It also contains the Teleporter.
To interact with it, stand in front and press E as you look at the class.
Press E to confirm the purchase.
Light, Heavy and Ultra Heavy Factories
The Factories are capable of producing vehicles that you yourself can control and enter.
Unlike barracks, you can cannot purchase find any vehicles within the factories.
You have to build them. . As they cost credits, I strongly recommend that you enter and use one of the harvesters to help your Commander.
Playing as an Infantry
Welcome to the new colony of crabs, you little crab.
As a tiny alien, you will notice that certain things are a bit different. But your objective remains the same.
You’ll be able to eliminate the pesty humans invading your habitat with fewer structures and units.
Only the commander/your Queen can build structures
- Nest
- Biocache
- Lesser Spawning Cyst
- Greater Spawning Cyst
The Nest
The Nest is your first structure on the alien side.
Your commander can use it to build new buildings. It’s basically the human counterpart of the Headquarters.
The Nest is the only‘s spawnpoint. If it is destroyed then you will lose the game. Keep it defended at any cost!
Bio cachet
The Bio caches are storages where shrimps can drop biotics.
Shrimps serve as harvester units. They are much smaller than their human counterparts, and carry less with each run.
They can also be controlled by your commander if he wants to help him out.
To collect Biotics press the Left Mouse Button when you are near a Biotic deposit.
You can see your storage next to your health bar, under your crossair.
To deposit your biotics simply walk up to the bio cache.
Lesser Spawning Cyst and Greater Spawning Cyst
The Spawning cysts are capable of producing other aliens into which you can put your mind.
All alien units need to be produced x your commander. This means that there is no way of purchasing classes like in the human faction with the terminal inside barracks.
You must press E to enter another alien’s body / transfer minds.
Remember that you don’t need to walk up to an alien to control it. The range of the ability to transfer mind is, as far as I can tell, almost limitless.
Fast Travel
Soldier. Are you tired of walking a long distance on foot?
Worry not!
Teleport to the action with the Teleporter, located at every barracks & Headquarters!
Stand on top the teleportation platform.
Place your crossair on the map in front of you and teleport to the desired location.
You can only teleport into areas that have been revealed by friendly units and buildings
Aliens currently have no way to travel quickly or teleport.
*sad Crab Noises*
Work in Progress Status-Update
This little introduction should help you understand the role of an infantryman.
To Do:
- Addition of the Playing as Commander section
- Add Alien Faction specific subsections
- Add Pictures/Gifs for a better representation
- correct errors if found
I may or not add a complete list of all Units, depending on the interest.
I’m going to finish the guide if i don’t forget about it.
> hopefully.
Have a wonderful evening/day
