Issue
Hours spent in editor count as Serious Sam 4 hours, not Editor.
Fix
Open up your SS4 folder, find a file called “Sam4_SeriousEditor.exe”, open it in notepad, press Ctrl+F and find the following string:
Select it and change it to:
Save.
Explanation & afterword
When you start up the editor, it connects to the internet to check if you have the app with specified ID. If it succeeds, editor starts up, and if it fails for whatever reason (no internet connection or you don’t have specified “app”), it crashes on loading.
“257420” is the SS4 APPID, so when editor starts up, it tells steam that you launched SS4, instead of the editor, which is “638380”.
With this fix, you can flex at everyone with your 3K editor hours! Yeehaw!
By the way, I experemented with it a bit and turns out you can start up any game in your library by changing 257420 to a corresponding APPID. Even the DLCs. Yes, I surely enjoyed playing Serious Sam 4 Classic Tommy gun for 20 hours (I actually didn’t, but you can!).
