Premise
Farm the best buff item in the game (+25% damage to standard enemies, destroys apparitions) + some other nifty crafting materials & healing items relatively early on to get yourself on your way to stomping those headless.
How To:
Disclaimer: I did this with Suppress Sound & Suppress Presence skills attained — results may vary without these 2 skills in the Shinobi Arts tree.
Start by teleporting to the Upper Tower – Antechamber idol in Ashina Castle.
Next; take out the samurai & clear the space of any obstructions as shown in the pic below.
(After clearing, the flowchart will have been delayed, so enemy placement will differ — to get the full ninju farm effect, attempt the following steps after resting @ the idol).
Now, make your way in to the next room & hug the railing while keeping @ least a decent-enough distance not to be seen — take out the next samurai.
Now hug the left side of the middle railing & wait for the old bag to get within range, just like the prior samurai.
Now you’re going to turn right & run straight up to the samurai @ the end of the hall (he might’ve already turned left around the corner depending on how quickly you dealt with the old bag) & of course; Shinobi Execute like so many before him.
Note: I cleared the sliding doors out in this room just to give me a clear line of sight to swap lock-on targets to our final samurai of the circuit
Lastly, just run right up to the closest samurai & execute him — & don’t worry about being spotted by the other one, just un-target him & get out of there.
Note: this is when I hold the item collect button as I’m making my way back to the idol.
Rinse & repeat. You can up your drop chances with Possession Balloons & the charm you get by ringing the Demon Bell.
Cheers.
Advanced Ninju Techniques
If you want to speed up the circuit a little, you can try this:
After the first kill, dash jump over the railing (from the left side) toward the center area of the inner railing, behind the samurai, & get up with a wall kick.
After this, do the same on the left, behind the old bag (I wait until she walx up to @ least the 3rd beam of the wall/past the first set of sliding doors before I attempt the jump).
Watch out for this jump — if you hold up/left too much, you risk crashing through the wall & alerting the 2 samurai behind it (& leaving a line of sight for future cycles, rendering this method inefficient). You’ll want to neutral wall kick up & then tilt in like a REAL ninju.
Edit: You can even clear certain angles with 1 dash jump (no wall kick required). Experiment in your cycles.
& that’s it! Enjoy lots of Confetti for those tough battles & NG+ cycles to come. (This is my first playthrough, @ the time of writing).
Total possible confetti drops: 4 (& then whatever the old bag drops). That’s 5 kills per cycle.
Note: if you fall down attempting a wall kick, just use your pocket idol to last rest spot, but ‘porter beware; this’ll reset the environment & you’ll have to smash a wack of tatami all over again.
Cheers.
