Basic Theory
To know how to beat 096 we need to know the basic theory behind it.
On unmodified vannila servers SCP 096 starts with 1500 HP and 350 AHP
When viewed (depending on the distance and the time of staring at his face) after 3-10 seconds he will cover it’s face and scream. After about 3 seconds of warming up he will enter the rage state which can last up to 30 seconds.
(The recent hotfix 1.10.2 broke the distance and time of viewing system, I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not but now 096 will start warming up instantly after viewing.)
1. Avoid
a) Don’t Look
The most obvious method to counter 096 is just don’t look at it. Keep your camera straight down and walk through him. If someone else enraged him get out of the position he last saw you at ASAP. He will probably try to blindly kill you there.
b) Flashbang
When you are a security guard or you looted the armory you should have a flashbang grenade.
If you look at him and he’s ready to charge you throw your flashbang a little bit further away so he runs into it. When that happens he will be blinded for long enough for you to get far away from him. He should not be able to catch you and you’ll survive! (Warning: Flash grenades may catch your teammates and they might die because of it.)
c) Elevator
When you look at him and there’s an elevator nearby, run into it and wait for the rage state. As soon as he enters this state, close the elevator and wait a bit on the other way (About 15 seconds) and come back up. He should be docile by this point and you’ll survive yet again!
d) Stack on targets
If you are a D-Class or a Scientist and 096 gets triggered in a big room with a lot of people (for ex. 914), run away from the group. 096 will not be able to kill them all in such a short amount of time to reach you.
2. Elemination
a) Coordinated Attack
Try to get your teammates (about 4 P-90’s should be enough) and attack him at the same time. If your attacks have a 70% hit rate, you should be able to kill him before he gets into the rage state. (Important: Even if 096 is close to fully enraging don’t stop shooting. That extra 2 seconds of shooting may be the thing that saves your life and kills 096)
This is the most unprofessional image I’ve ever put into a guide but it fits I guess*.
*The image does not include the 70 AHP boost for every person that triggered 096.
b) MicroHID
This one is simple. Find the HID, find 096, charge it, kill it. There isn’t anything that I can say about that one. (Important: Don’t let 096 get inside you, MicroHID won’t damage SCPs/people that are inside your character)
c) The Bait Strategy
This one is the safest way to kill 096 (right after the HID). You need to get about 4 people with P-90’s and one that will be used as a bait. The bait then triggeres 096 and lures him into an uncomfortable place for him (for ex. the dead ends in entrance). After 096 quits rage state (the bait may be dead by that time but if they’re alive they should help you) shoot him with everything you got until you kill him. This strategy is safer than the Coordinated Attack since you’ll be attacking 096 on cooldown.
3. When everything fails
If you looked at him alone and there is no elevator near you, you don’t have the MicroHID, or your coordinated attacks failed. There are methods to at least deal most amount of damage to 096.
a) Shooting
If you have the opportunity, just shoot him. You may deal some damage of his main HP.
b) Grenades
If you have a weapon and a grenade. Try to run away while throwing a grenade slightly behind you. If the grenade explodes beneath him you will deal a lot of damage. Mix that with the Shooting strat.
c) Sacrifice
If you have an elevetor nearby and you know 096 is low on health, trigger him and run to the elevator. When you arrive throw a grenade in the elevator and try to close 096 in there with you. You will die but you will also kill the SCP, which is way more useful than you being alive. (In-game of course ; ) )
