In this guide you will learn how to play Saints Row 2 Multiplayer using OpenSpy.

Step 1

 

Download d3d9 patch

Download the d3d9 patch openspy.net – http://openspy.net/sr2_howto/d3d9.zip
((Source code can be found github.com – https://github.com/chc/sr2_proxy ))

Step 2

 

Install d3d9 patch

Extract the d3d9.dll file into your game directory, directly beside the SR2_pc.exe file.

Play!

You should now be able to create a multiplayer account and play with friends just as you could in the good old days.

Some features like character customization do not currently work but it is being worked on.
Due to the design of Saints Row 2 the server browser will only show games that are in a LOBBY, it may be difficult to find games with random players unless you join our discord or a Saints Row discord.

KNOWN ISSUES

Having software like Hamachi installed can cause problems!
Consider uninstalling Hamachi or at least disabling before attempting to use OpenSpy.

If you have issues joining lobbies you need to disable all of your network adapters, except for the one you use for internet.
