Welcome to Sailing Era – Yoshitaka Shizuma Gameplay Walkthrough Guide.
This guide will help you read the Entire Yoshitaka story as quickly as possible.
Preface
This guide was created to help speedrun Yoshitaka. However, it can also be used by people who want to quickly get through the character or those who are stuck and need to know what to do next.
Warning: This guide may contain spoilers. I won’t be revealing the content of the cutscenes, as they won’t be shown in the guide. However, there will be enough spoilers to spoil a portion of the story.
You’ve been warned.
Chapter 1: Good swimmers drown, good riders fall
Chapter one is very simple and a tutorial. There isn’t much that you can do. Many functions and stores are unavailable, so it is essential to follow the tracks.

Note: Only add the material that is required. There isn’t much material at this point in the game. My tests also revealed no beneficial traits the ship could acquire. It is better to save your money.

Chapter 2: A Gentleman Always Keeps His Word
Chapter two is the most flexible of all branches. If you do things correctly, the rest of the game will be very easy. To set up the rest correctly, there will be a lot to fight. Random chance also plays a significant role. For most of the chapter you will be hunting pirates to get components. But once that’s done, it’s over.
- Modify the hull in a shipyard
- Two Shrapnel guns, a Small Aftercastle, and two Shrapnel guns on an Ocean ship
- Change mapping room to Naniwa maru warehouse.

You will need to get used the Ocean ship to fight for you. The forward guns will be your main weapon, while the paired Shrapnel guns can quickly take out crew.
Note 2: While on pirate hunting expeditions, you may want to leave the Naniwa Maru behind. It is fragile and you would lose a lot of time if it were to be replaced. Unfortunately, you will have to fight it at least once. However, that fight is easy and there will be other targets in the area.
- Navigate to the North of Western Japan Landing Zone and grab Hidden Wolf Stream Discovery
- Deal pirates north of Hidden wolf stream
- Sail to Nagasaki
- Visit the Imperial House
- Talk to the Minister
Talk to the Minister
Note: You’ll be pirate hunting starting at this point. It is a good idea that you grab any bounties the Minister may have. Make sure they aren’t in the Bay of Siam or in the same area. If there are, you’ll have to fight two pirate fleets simultaneously. The second pirate area is far away.
- Guanchuan pirate fleets (single ships, groups of three) can be found and fought to:
- Get the Guanchuan blueprint
- Get the components to build three Guanchuan (3 Reinforced penal, 3 Light masts, 3 Reinforced Canvas and 3 Coating).
- Get the components to make the Arab Schooner (1 Light Mast, 1 General Canvas, and 1 Light Keel).
- Once you have all the parts, go to a port with a shipyard to build another Guanchuan. Keep going until you have two Guanchuans in your fleet. (The third will be built later).

Once you have all the parts, you can go to a port and build another Guanchuan. Keep going until you have two Guanchuans in your fleet. (The third will be built later).
Note: This step will take the longest along with the sailing at the end. Finding three or more Guanchuan fleets is possible, but it can be difficult to find them. They are usually found between Nagasaki, Haizhou, or pa*sing in front of Zhangzhou. They are not difficult to beat, but crew elimination will give you more drops.
Note 2: The Light Keel might be the most challenging component to locate. Stop hunting if you don’t have the General Canvas. One can be purchased in Gia Dinh later.
- Korean Pine Wood (30)
Note: This is why so many ships are needed. For a chapter three quest, you will need 50 units of cargo not counting supplies. You’ll also need to carry all the other items until then. You can find Korean Wood in Pohang or Anping.
- Sail up the Yellow River to grad the Seed Plough
Note: To speed up the process, you’ll need two discoveries. Seed Plough and Hidden Wolf Stream have the best coverage and are easy to obtain.
- Sail to Manilla
- Fight Trifid Nebula
Note: This is the second mandatory fight in the game, and it is also the second most difficult. It is not difficult and you should have no trouble with it between shrapnel or boarding. It could be canonized to death, but it is better to drop the bombs when the ships surrender.
- Sail to Manilla

Talk to Amagi
Note: Speedrunning is where you ask for the RNG gods to help you. You can have your whole heart in one conversation if she asks for one of the four topics you have. If she does not request one of the four subjects, you can either load and hope for better luck or wait until the beginning of the next month. If you have only a few more days, each time you come and go from the Shipyard’s Shipyard, the Bounty list at the Governor or the trade screen inside the Trade Center, you will add one day to your counter.
- Sail to Gia Ding
- Go to the governor’s House
- Report two discoveries
- Land Expedition Qualification under Permit

Land Expedition Qualification under Permit
Note: This, along with Latia is why the discoveries were made earlier. To get the Land Expedition Qualification Permit, you need to contribute 100 dollars. However, discoveries can easily be made in the earlier game.
- Go to post
- For the exclamation mark, go straight east.
- Return to the town

Note: Avoid the exclamation marks if you are trying to save time.
- Visit a shipyard
Chapter 3: Brighter minds are always around the corner
Chapter three is usually the most complex and frustrating. There is a lot of back-and-forth, but with all the work you have already done, it’s a cakewalk. Although there is some work at the beginning, it’s almost effortless once you get to the end.
- Get your Guan Chuan at the Shipyard.
- Go to the Trade Center
- All the teak (20 -) should be purchased
- If you don’t have enough money to buy everything, go to the post to spend your time if necessary.

If you don’t have enough money to buy everything, then you can go to post to save time if necessary.
- Sail to Calicut
Note: If you run out of cash, there are two things that you can do. You can grab the Straits of Malacca while pa*sing it, which will be right in your path. For an additional 20 000 gold, and an item that can sell for quite a lot, you can grab the treasure located at the bottom island of Ceylon.
- Go to a teahouse
- Visit a shipyard
- Get the ship

- Sail to Suez

- Visit the Commerce Guild
- Accept commission (30 Korean Pine Wood, (20 Teak)
- It’s possible to fulfill it
Accept commission (30 Korean Pine Wood, (20 Teak)
It’s possible to fulfill it
Note: This is why you’ve been carrying so much cargo for many years. This avoids the need for a mandatory fight. You’d be attacked if you tried to return to Suez. From now on, cargo capacity is irrelevant. You’ll want to place almost everything in supplies.
- Go to the shipyard
Chapter 4: Everyone and everything has a home
Chapter 4 is the most difficult part of the game and is a battle. You will need to reload this one as it is one the most difficult mandatory battles for all characters. You’ll spend a lot of your time sailing and little else.
- Sail to Barcelona
- Go to the Church

Recruit Joyce
Modify Hull – bask the Mapping Room that was removed earlier
Note: Auto-Sailing is not used very often in this game. This is because you rarely return to the place you came from. The exception to this rule is the route from the New World back and forth. Auto-Sail is a huge advantage because of the distance. We’ll be using all the experience that Joyce has to get us to the other side.
- Sail to Plymouth
Note: This is so that we can use this route when returning.
- Sail to Na*sau
- Go to the Tavern
- Sail for the Florida Strait
Note: You are invited to fight for your life! This battle is difficult due to both the terrain and the enemies. The Florida Strait is not a good place to fight. Everyone will be within knife range right from the beginning. Although brawlers would love that, in a speedrun no one can take that entire fleet that far. To gain maneuvering advantages, approach Cuba from the west and approach the Strait. This will give you more space to drag the flagship into a one on one fight where you can slowly maul him using your Shrapnel guns.
Note 2: In that battle, you will likely lose the most and not ll of your fleet. This is not a problem; you will soon be receiving a new ship that will allow you to cruise through the rest the game without any problems.
- Sail to Jamaica
- Sail to San Diego
- Sail to Na*sau
- If possible, auto-sail to London
Note: Add all your experience at this point on Joyce to the map, and any items that increase mapping to it. You’re fine as long as you make it to Plymouth.
- Go to the Tavern
- San Martin Recruit Crew
- Go to the pier
- Assign crew to San Martin
- Make the San Martin your new flagship
Assign crew to San Martin
Make the San Martin your new flagship
- Sail to Nagasaki
Note: There are four ways to get back to Japan. These are via Russia, the North West Pa*sage and the South America Route. You can also return the same way you came around Africa. The last two aren’t worth the effort without having them mapped (which would take longer than it saves), so you should choose one of the other options. The Northwest Pa*sage seems to be the fastest (London -> Hopedale–> Rapa Nui–> Petropavlosk– Nagasaki), but I have not yet tried the Russia Route (London-> Murmansk-> Mangazeya–-> Petropavlosk– Nagasaki). Although the distance between ports is longer, I don’t know much about the speed.
- Final battle won
Final battle won
Note: The final battle is a joke. Your forward guns and broading have been used throughout the game, but now your broadside will sink everything. Even better, there is only one target. If the enemy flagship is destroyed, the game is over. Five volleys should suffice with the San Martin’s guns.
