How to create a screenshot for Steam when a game is not running so F12 does not work

Using Windows for a screenshot

Screenshot for Steam OUTSIDE of a game…
Sometimes we need a screenshot of a conversation in messages or a screenshot of Steam itself and this is how…

Most simple way…

Make Steam on top with Rome selected so it shows the Rome information in the page area, click “Print Screen” on your keyboard which should be one key to the right of F12.

NOW, click windows start menu, in the search bar, type in “paint” without the quotations and open paint. Basic Paint is just fine. On the top bar, click the “paste” function and it will paste in the screenshot. Now simply save the picture to your pictures folder or desktop. .png is the default format. You can change that to .jpg if you like, but either format works for uploading as verification.

Some people will not like to show off their task bar, pinned programs, and the small icons for what is running next to the clock. To remove this, while open in paint or open a photo in paint, click on the top bar the dotted box which is the highlight function. Place your cursor at the corner of the part you want to keep and drag a box to include everything you want within the picture, then select the word crop next to that dotted box and it will remove everything EXCEPT what you have drawn into the box. Now save the photo.
