Walls are just a social construct. Learn how to bypass them here.

What?

Yeah, you can clip through walls.

This exploit takes advantage of the fact that the Volcanic egg can change the size of the players collision hitbox. There may be other items/abilities that can do this, however, using Volcanic Egg is the most reliable method.

how 2 do

Firstly, get your hands on a Volcanic Egg. Next, you want to find a surface that has a gap slightly shorter than your normal character’s hitbox. This will usually be some rock that makes a sharp angle with the ground. Then, use the Egg and enter that gap. After you morph back to normal size, you should clip through the surface. Some stages have very few locations where this technique actually works.

Applications

Generally speaking, attacks cannot go inside of walls, but can go outside of them. This means that you are able to harm enemies without them harming you. At that point, the only thing that should be able to harm you are AoE attacks and Magma Worms. That being said, there are some surfaces that cannot have attacks go through them. For the most part, attacks can only go through walls that can be seen through from the inside.

An important thing to note is that not every wall has a floor under it. Clipping through a wall without a floor will cause you to get teleported back to the surface and take fall damage. However, even without a floor to stand on, characters with enough aerial mobility should be able to abuse the invincibility gained from going out of bounds.

Using this technique, it is possible to enter the hidden Abandoned Aqueduct room. However, the bosses do not spawn anymore if you haven’t hit the buttons, making this pretty useless.
