Thumbs UP Reviews:

As I’ve been expecting since the game’s announcement, it was great. The story expands Resident Evil’s lore and explains quite a lot of stuff. The gameplay as always is awesome, it’s clunky but super satisfying. I like the concept of having to defeat 4 lords in order to face your main threat and i like the way it was implemented in the game. There are 4 areas and each area has it’s own bosses and enemies.

First one is Castle Dimitrescu. I loved exploring the castle and i think they did a great job with the design and the atmosphere of the castle. Fighting the daughters Bela, Cassandra and Daniela and killing Alcina Dimitrescu herself at the end happened a little sooner and faster than i thought since they were hyped a lot but it makes sense since there are many more areas to go through in the game.

Second one is House Beneviento and i think i can say that this one is my favorite! It’s like the Silent Hills game we never got to play and i freaking loved it. There are no common enemies in this house because it’s more based off with puzzles and horror elements. I was shocked and terrorized by some of the things in the house but i won’t spoil it because i think it’s better if you go in there totally blind, it was an amazing experience playing through this part of the game.

Third one is Moreau’s Reservoir. It was a disgusting place just like Moreau himself lol, I don’t think it was the best but it was definitely interesting to go through, I liked the general atmosphere of it and Moreau turning into a giant fish like the one in Resident Evil 4 was fun to fight against.

Fourth and the last one is Heisenberg’s Factory and even though I like this area I think it overstayed it’s welcome. The concept of it is not the most interesting but also not the worse so i thought it’d be okay but since it’s one of the longest parts of the game i remember thinking ‘okay I’ve had enough let’s leave this place now’ but it has some interesting enemies and boss fights so it wasn’t that bad.

Apart from all these areas there is the Village which is where the whole game is set in and i must say that i love it! The design of the village is amazing and i liked coming back to it as a hub area after every once in a while and there was always something to do before leaving again to go for a different location.

The game wasn’t too hard, at least on the standard difficulty. My biggest complaint is that the puzzles were too easy, most of them didn’t even require you to think carefully about what you’re supposed to do. The game also has lots of replayability with the weapons, extra game modes and a new difficulty you can unlock by completing challenges which is great!

Overall, this game has great graphics, an amazing optimization (works in 60 fps on my GTX 1650), great bosses, some scary and intense moments and a decent story to tell. As a die hard fan of the Resident Evil series for a long time I strongly recommend you to experience this game, I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Definitely one of my favorite RE of all time beside the 4th and the 2nd remake

-Story is about 8-10h if you play normally and exploring and is really amazing
-It explains everything about why Lycans and “Vampires”
-You also learn about Ethan a little more and understand some things about him
-The general bosses are really good and their fights all differents
-Enemies are also differents and enjoyable to fight

Highly recommended

If you enjoyed RE7 you’ll most likely enjoy this game. I’ve not beaten it but from the first 4 hours of gameplay I can say I’m enjoying it. However if you haven’t played 7 you might be a little confused of some of the things that happen, there is a recap worth watching if you need a reminder of the events prior to 8.

The game is really tense on hardcore and is one of the harder RE games, especially cause I have been playing with a controller on my big tv rather than K&M. However if 80 FOV bothers you in games, you might want to pass as it isn’t changeable.

This game is heavily inspired by RE4, built with that game and the past 3 titles. This game takes a lot of the elements those games did right. However the beginning of the game doesn’t guide you very well, so you’re going to be scrabbling trying to understand what the hell is happening. That took away from the horror as I was too confused to be scared. Playing on hardcore doesn’t help, after dying all the tension built up goes away, and confusion is all that is left.

After the awkward start, that is basically the village part of RE4 redone, the game was a lot more enjoyable. It’s not an easy game, and after 4 hours I’ve only beaten one of the 5 main bosses and it was good enough to write my review now. If you were on the fence maybe that’ll make the purchase easier.

Some misconceptions about RE8!

1. “Short game or it’s 8 hours only.” This is straight up WRONG. The game can easily take more than 10 hours to finish. There are so many people who beat it in 12 to 14 hours, some even more than that. RE8 has more exploration and side optional in-game content more than any previous RE game. The in-game timer literally lies to you, if you’ve played 12 hours, it will tell you that you spent 7 or 8 hours. It’s easily one of the longest RE games. It’s got a perfect length for an RE game, not to mention that it has post-game content and good replay value.

2. “It’s not scary.” hella WRONG! This game has different types of horror. From RE7 type of horror, to RE4 (panicking), and to Silent Hill / PT level of horror + other types. In fact, one section in the game has probably the scariest and creepiest moment in the entire franchise.

3. “It’s RE4+RE7.” This is true, but it also has inspirations from almost every RE game. The game feels like it’s a celebration for RE’s 25th anniversary.

I’ve enjoyed my time playing it and I think it’s A MUST BUY for every RE fan or a survival horror fan.

– Easily and by a huge margin, RE8 is the best looking RE game ever. It’s INCREDIBLY detailed, well designed and STUNNING to look at.
– Very atmospheric, and its got a lot of variety in that aspect as well.
– Sound design is also the best in the series. The intro is horrifying!
– From the first few hours, you’ll quickly notice how big and diverse the game is.
– Levels are intricately crafted, with more ways to explore them. Really liked how the village was structured with more ways to explore and search its houses.
– The game INSANELY nails the interior design of its levels; I find myself stopping every 5 mins or so just to absorb the beauty of it all.
– The game’s setting really makes you feel like you’re playing in a horror themed amusement park.
– There is clear emphasis on exploration and side content.
– The game allows you to take control of your own pacing at certain sections. It’s not really a linear game. It has more freedom and exploration than previous RE games as I mentioned before, which I liked very much!
– The game does a really good job of changing its intensity from time to time. Presenting different types of horror along the way, mixing them up with action / adventure elements & sequences while still being within its survival horror medium. It’s well balanced, diverse and refreshing.
– RE8 has some of the highest highs in the franchise. When it hits, it hits real good. 😀
– NO LOADING TIMES. That’s a technical marvel considering the quality of its graphics, level design and performance. RE Engine strikes again!
– Puzzles are fun and rewarding.
– Backtracking here is the most fun and rewarding in all of the RE games.
– Music is top tier.
– The merchant is cool.
– The story is intriguing and thrilling.
– The characters are some of the best in the series. Really interesting, very well acted and fun to watch. Not including Ethan though lol, however he’s honestly better this time.

* Advice: if you’re playing with a controller (consoles or on PC), turn off the movement camera acceleration and aiming camera acceleration settings. They somewhat introduce input delay and make the camera movement feel slow. Terrible settings!

PRVS

One of the most insane & most immersive action/horror games i’ve ever played!
I’m 100% NOT an expert in the RE series, but as a horror game addict, as of now, i’m extremely enjoying the game at its fullest.
Noticeable things that i feel they changed in RE 8 are:
1) The boss fights are way too easy (at least at normal difficulty).
2) Graphics are insane, but i feel the Ray Tracing setting was not that optimized (maybe i’m wrong).
3) Gunplay feels way better than in RE 7.
4) A whole lot of Dark Souls & bloodborne vibes…and i love it!
5) Game’s running very well – except in one room, in the third daughter boss fight – in which i would get ~45 fps (instant drop from ~140) as i would walk in and as i would walk out i was back at ~140.
6) Characters feel so unique, but a bit surreal (which is not bad).

Overall RE 8, is one of those games that make me feel, my money & time are well spent!
Love the story so far, GOTTA KEEP PLAYING!
Recommend 100%

I have no doubts that this is most likely a very good game but unfortunately with a missing FoV slider in a 1st person game I can’t recommend this game to anyone who suffers from motion sickness due to low FoV in games like myself.

EDIT: I would like to point out that RE7, RE2 and RE3 all had FoV options out of the gate, and 2 & 3 aren’t even 1st person games. There’s literally no reason not to include it here. I am a fan of this series having played through all the mainline games and would very much like to experience this one as well, but will wait to see if Capcom ever patches the game to include a very basic feature that was in the previous titles using the same RE Engine. And I do plan to change my review if/when the game gets patched.

The game was fun, well made, and I really have no complaints. If it was rushed, it was only obvious in how short the middle two sections were- But it also (despite my time played lying) only took me 8 hours to beat. That includes the fact I was taking things slow, and got /most/ of the treasures. I could have easily reduced that time by an hour or two if I wasn’t so easily lost, and could have beaten it even sooner if I didn’t try doing /anything/ extra.

There’s mercenaries mode after you beat the game- But that hardly counts as extra content.

I can’t recommend paying more then 50% of the games price, it’s just too short.

So far, I have to say I’m very disappointed.

It is certainly a spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4, and I’m positive that people desperate to scratch that itch will be very happy.

But for me the story and the characters have been an enormous let down and the horror aspects are almost non existent for a Resident Evil game.
Compared to the horror masterpiece that was RE:7 this game feels like it was made by a completely different studio.

Warning: There will be minor spoilers in beyond this point. (Only two and a half hours in so far)

Ethan is just…bad.

His voice actor is not doing the character justice, no emotion just flatly reading a script.
The character is running around this game world acting as if he didn’t survive the absolute nightmare of RE:7 – scared of everything, surprised at the existence of monsters, cowers in fear non stop ect. It may as well be any random person.

Also Ethan is an immortal, unstoppable juggernaut that belongs in a Marvel movie due to his superhuman resilience. It’s beyond typical video game shenanigans, this guy may as well be Thor.
And I’m not referencing the games (limited) fighting, within my first 2 hours, in the cut-scenes he has suffered the following injuries;

:Been in a serious car accident that was dangerous enough to destroy the armoured truck thingo he was in and kill all the other passengers. The crash also left him outside in the freezing snow for hours. And Ethan is from Texas, so not exactly conditioned for such temperatures.
:2 fingers and a good chunk of his left hand bitten off. Doesn’t even bandage this for quite some time.
:Punched, stabbed, beaten and pulled through a wooden floor.
:Impaled through the chest by a long metal pipe.
:Knocked unconscious by having heavy metal objects slammed into his entire body via some characters psychic/magic abilities.
:He took a full swing to the chest by a gigantic hammer (hammer taller than him) wielded by a monstrous werewolf troll creature – this monster could throw a car around like a toy, getting hit by this hammer would splatter an elephant.
:Tied up and dragged a not insignificant distance through hewn rock passageways, and he was unconscious for most of the journey, banging his head into the rocks the whole way.
:Has a sickle slashed deep into each leg by superhuman strong vampire babes and then dragged through the castle. Somehow his legs are still attached.
:Has a blade driven through each hand and is then suspended in the air via those blades….Ethan then pulls himself free by slicing his hands in half. (not joking).

But nevermind those injuries, he is running around jumping, handling firearms and crafting bullets.

It’s just absurd. Immersion breaking.

Speaking of immersion, it’s NOTHING at all like RE7. RE7 was scary, it was tense, it was unapologetically gory, gross and gruesome in equal measure.
Nothing of the like so far in village. It has about as much horror elements as Skyrim thus far.
Your just the terminator running around, but voiced by a scared, confused nerd.

As for the other characters.

Well.

Lets start with everyone’s hotly anticipated favourite, Lady D.
I dunno about you but I was expecting an evil, sadistic yet glamorous Romanian vampire queen.
What I got was a big lady with an American accent who whines and throws temper tantrums.
When you are introduced to her, she is literally having a sook, whining and even stamps her foot like a toddler. It wasn’t scary or impressive, it wasn’t even sexy, it was pathetic.

Everyone has an American accent by the way, maybe we aren’t in Europe, but Alaska or Michigan. Sigh.

All the other characters so far have been empty, one dimensional tropes just there to die.

The Daughters being the exception, the voice actress really put her heart into the role and combined with the excellent animation, the daughters are fantastic. And yes, for those wondering, very sexy, in the way that only blood soaked murder-torture vampire women can be.

As for the gameplay? It’s RE:4 style, with RE:7 modernisation, but none of the flair of either.
In RE4 the ‘arena’s were interesting and featured all sorts of elevation so you could shoot enemies in the legs and have them fall off the cliff, or hot swap to your knife to stun enemies that got close.

None of that fancy stuff here. In Village you … shoot enemies in the head until it explodes. When they get close, hold spacebar until they hit your fists and then you shoot them in the head some more. Takes 5-10 bullets. Woooo. Super exciting.

The port quality is mostly decent, navigating the menus is clunky and obviously intended for controller, but no major issues other than changing resolution was a pain. Rather then a drop down menu, you have to change it one selection at a time and go through the (short) process of black screen + clicking yes to accepting the new resolution. Going from the default console resolution to 4k was more annoying than it should be.

Graphics are fine. Not good by todays standards, not even close to the RE2 and Nemesis remakes, but on par with RE7 so more than good enough for me.

Sound is ok. Under-utilised so far compared to RE7. It’s just not spooky.

TLDR: 3/10. Boring, aged gameplay, dumb, zero effort characters, pitiful villains, superhuman invincible main character, total lack of horror elements compared to other RE or similar games such as Silent Hill or The Evil Within.
The good: the animations are fantastic, particularly the character animations. The Daughters.

Wait for a big sale.

This review contains spoilers!

Was really looking forward to this but after finishing it once I have to say I’m a bit disappointed.
The premise seemed really interesting at first but the villains you have to fight were all kinda boring and killing them off seemed a bit rushed. You literally meet the three daughters of the big lady and the big lady herself and kill them in what feels like half an hour playtime. The other big enemies feel the same way. They are introduced and finished way too fast in my opinion. It also bothers me that they toned down the horror aspect in this game compared to the last. The only section that was somewhat unsettling was in the dollmaker’s house. The monster baby’s sound design was pretty awesome and the overall atmosphere was great. Would have loved to see more of that in the game.
Gameplay felt alright, you now have a counter move after blocking an attack from basic enemies which can give you some free space. Weapons and gunplay are fine but nothing special. I did enjoy exploring the castle and village, unlocking doors with new keys and collecting treasures and such.
Storywise it is a bit of a letdown for me as well. Ethan is just a boring protagonist. Other main characters in the series weren’t especially deep but they worked for what they are – cheesy action heroes – but Ethan isn’t even that. He comes across as a normal dude in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up situation but he lacks any charismatic or over-the-top properties a Leon Kennedy or Chris boulder-punching Redfield had in previous titles. The explanation in the end on why Ethan is able to survive all of these injuries felt kinda unnecessary and out of nowhere. Chris’s role in all this is weird too. He has yet another organization – the “Hound” group – and his previously found anti-bioterrorist organization BSAA is apparently now an enemy? It’s just all presented very poorly in my opinion.
I am going to play it on another difficulty at some point to see how that changes things up, as Resident Evil games are known to do. All in all, I feel like the game tries to combine many things that made previous titles great but fails to do so. The action and gameplay is better in 4, the exploration is more satasfying in 2 and 2 Remake, the horror and villains are more effective in 7 and the story feels underwhelming.

Overall Steam Players Reviews:

At the moment we create this post, on steam they are 16,000 Positive Reviews and 1,000 Negative Reviews of a total of 17,000 Reviews in only 2/3 days after the release …

Right now when we write this post, Resident Evil 8 Village is ranking 11 top games on steam, yesterday was top 5 most players online on the game but looks like the game is dropping in ranking very fast

Is it Worth Buying And Playing?

This is only our opinion you don’t need to follow what we suggest, you decide if you want to buy it or not!

Our suggestion to buy the game is only 70% and 30% no … the price of this game is so high and for only 8/10 hours of gameplay is really not worth it! You can see the game was rush to release for fast grabbing money from their fans with some huge prices … the way we see how long the fans allow this … the price of this game will keep increase more and more in long run …

Resident Evil 8 Village is fast to finish after to get bored … in some countries, you even pay $120 to buy the game on steam (I’m lucky I’m in Asia right now and here the prices are only half)

If you are not with the hype of the games when they release i suggest to wait a better price for it, this way you can save some money and don’t feed the high prices of these companies … but this is only my opinion if you enjoy and $100 is not much for you then go for it, you gonna have few hours of fun only!

Resident Evil Village in the next few weeks will be already a forgotten game like most hype games … don’t fall for it ( Buy some Dogecoin joke 🙂 )

Anyway, we have a good amount of game guides for Resident Evil 8 Village if you plan to buy it and play you should check these guides too!
