This guide will show you how to receive the ROW uncut version of Resident Evil 4, in case you own the German “low violence version”. The ROW version includes two additional minigames “Assignment Ada” and “The Mercenaries” compared to the German version.
 
 

Do I own the German cut version?

If you are unsure wether you own the German cut version, you can check it here:

1. Choose Resident Evil 4
 
2. Choose “I want to permanently remove this game from my account”
 
3. Check if it says “Resident Evil 4 DE Retail” for cut, or “Resident Evil 4 (ROW) for uncut
 
 

 
 
 

Receiving the ROW uncut version

A couple years ago, the German cut version was removed from the store and the ROW uncut version is being sold, even though it still says “low violence version” in the German store. If you purchased the game before that change was made, you still own the cut version to this day.
 
 
Now, to receive the uncut version, you will have to contact the Steam Support to add it to your library. To contact Steam, go to https://help.steampowered.com/en/ – [steampowered.com]  and choose Resident Evil 4.
 
Then, choose:
 
1. Gameplay or technical issue
 
2. The game won’t download or install
 
3. Contact Steam Support
 
 
Tell the Support you still own the German cut version and that you would like to receive the ROW uncut version, which is currently sold in the store. Here is an example text of what I wrote:
 
 

 
 
One day later, hopefully you receive the same message I did:
 
 

 
 
It’s not necessary to follow these steps, as I automaticly got a 700MB update for the game which unlocked both minigames. The save states from the cut version can still be used in the uncut version.
 
 
You can still choose to remove the German version from your account by clicking on “Resident Evil 4 DE Retail” and afterwards “Ok, remove the listed games from my account permanently”.
