(Disclaimer: At the very end of the game, there is still a small chance you encounter a spider, but you’re very unlikely to be able to be able to see it in enough detail to tell that it’s a spider, or even that it moves like one.)

Rain World is a great game, but not very friendly to those of us who hate bugs. Luckily, there is still a path through the game that avoids all those horrible bugs. You’ll miss a lot of side content, but for some people it’s the only way to play. I really want to avoid removing the exploration aspect of this game, so I’ll have a list of regions and subregions that are safe, so you can forge a path yourself. This was written with the help of someone who hates bugs to help me decide which stuff is bad, so appreciate their suffering.

Early (Spoiler Free) Regions

Outskirts

A very safe starting area. There a 3 small centipedes with a small chance of appearing in the middle left area of the map, and one cockroach-esque creature (Known as an Eggbug) that has a chance of spawning in the very bottom left. Both are easily avoidable, if they spawn at all. There are also squid-like creatures with wings much like an insect, but they’re far from the worst

Industrial Complex

One of the safest regions in the entire game, with absolutely zero bugs.

Garbage Wastes

If you go in a straight line from where you’re very likely to enter, then you should be perfectly fine. There are quite a few wiggly noodles, but it isn’t really that bad. However, if you dare stray from this path, you will suffer several centipedes and spiders.

Shaded Citadel

Dear god there is no safety from the spiders this area gave me literal nightmares avoid it at all costs

Chimney Canopy

There is exactly one ambushing bug at the very bottom right of this area, other than that there are zero bugs in this region.

Drainage System

Lots of the wiggly noodle things mentioned in the Garbage Wastes, but other than that nothing too bad.

Mid-Game Areas (Minor Spoilers)

Shoreline

Blue version of the wiggly noodle things, but nothing else of note.

The Exterior

The Exterior has 3 Subregions. The Leg and The Underhang both have spider-esque tentacle things, while the Wall is almost perfectly fine. There is an ambush bug, but in a room where it’s very easy to go around.

Sky Islands

3 Words. Giant. Flying. Centipedes.

Farm Arrays

Centipedes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere. Also a single Cockroach.

Endgame (Large Spoilers + A bit of walkthrough)

Five Pebbles

While avoiding bugs, entering Five Pebbles is quite a hassle. You need to enter from the top of the wall using some advanced tech. Said tech can be found by clicking this link. – [miraheze.org]

Subterranean

Enter from the Drainage System and head straight down. Do not go up, there are several centipedes and spiders.
