Welcome to Rain World – All Slugcat Missions Guide

This guide contains missions/objectives in the game.

Slugcat Objectives

Hello everyone! I know it can be difficult to figure out how to complete each slugcat objective. So, I have compiled everything I know so far. I’ll keep this updated as I go, but any additions or changes are welcome.

This guide assumes that you have a basic knowledge of the map. You can find many community-made maps that you can use for your journey.

Max Karma (All slugcats).

You can easily increase your karma when playing the Hunter, Monk, or Survivor.

To increase their karma by 1 all slugcats may also visit an Echo. Echoes can be found all over the map. A map is the best way to locate them, as they are often off the beaten path. To trigger them, you will need to have a lot of karma and sometimes they may require 2 cycles to fully access.

Void Sea

Once you have reached max karma, you can now access Void Sea. This is the main objective of the Hunter, Monk, and Survivor slugcats. However, it can be reached by any new slugcats added to Downpour. The Void Sea is located in Subterranean, to the south-west of the map.

Gourmand

The Gourmand is a brand new slugcat that was added to Downpour. They are a strong unit that quickly tires after any exercise, such as running, throwing, or jumping too much.

Migration

You can complete the Gourmand playthrough by visiting Five Pebbles, then heading far, far west. The new Outer Expanse area can be found at the westmost point of Subterranean. Continue west to meet friendly faces and reach the end of your journey.

Side quest – Getting Big

The Gourmand will keep track of new “flavours” that they discover. These can be accessed via the map or at a new cycle’s start. They will also be able to see hints of the flavours they have yet tried. These will make you more, but they won’t end their journey.

These are the flavors I have discovered so far.

  • Slime Mold
  • Blue fruit
  • Batfly
  • Mushroom
  • Black lizard
  • Bubble fruit
  • Jellyfish
  • Jetfish
  • Lantern fruit (Can also be found in Subterranean, Shoreline and in Subterranean).
  • Salamander
  • Snail
  • Hazer
  • Eggbug
  • Lily (Flower found on topwater in Filtration Systems)
  • Yellow lizard
  • Neuron fly
  • Centiwing
  • Sky flower (Floral found in Sky Islands)
  • Cyan lizard
  • Spike fruit (Found at the top of some rooms on Subterranean).
  • Red centipede
  • Grappling worm

Artificer

The Artificer is a new slugcat that was added to Downpour. It has a very aggressive playstyle and is known as the Artificer. They are the John Wick of the slugcat universe.

Closure

To begin in Toxic waste, you will need to take the new shortcut into Shaded Citadel. Continue climbing through the Exterior until you reach Five Pebbles. You can now go up the wall, but instead of going down, you can enter the new area of Metropolis.

Once you are inside Metropolis, continue east to the House of Braids. The Scavenger Chieftain can be found at the top of this area. You can complete your revenge journey by killing them.

Rivulet

The Downpour adds the Rivulet, a super fast, super fast slugcat. They’ve been punished for being OP with shorter cycles, but this will be part of your quest to become the fastest slugcat.

An old friend

You can climb up to Five Pebbles. The Shaded Citadel exterior route was what I took, but it should be easy to climb up the Wall. With the Rot, you will notice significant changes in the area once you reach them.

Five Pebbles will instruct you to take their core to Look to The Moon if you have a conversation with them. It would be best if you traveled southwest from his chamber to find the Linear Rail subregion. You will find a small room within that occasionally blocks access to anti-gravity. The core is accessible by timing your jump. Return to Five Pebbles, and then take the access route to begin the long journey back to Looks to The Moon.

Talk to her, and she will direct you to the core located in the depths below her. Turn west from the Moon region until you reach an entrance to the South. Head southeast to enter the Submerged Superstructure. Continue heading south until you reach mechanical regions and not caves. Continue north until you reach the core housing. You’ll be sent to the Aerie when you last activate the core.

Turn west to reach a gate that leads to Shoreline. This is also the entrance to Looks to the Moon. You can hug her to complete your journey. Bravo Ruffles!

Spearmaster

The Spearmaster is a new slugcat that can create spears from his body. It sounds disgusting, but I don’t want to know.

Messenger

To convey a message, make your way to Five Pebbles. I used the Wall access shaft, but you can also use the Leg route. Five Pebbles will quickly react and you will be forcibly removed from the chamber clutching a pearl. You will die if you go back in the chamber.

You can carry the pearl to Looks to The Moon. You won’t lose it as you’ll carry the pearl a long way. When you try to enter Shoreline, you’ll be in a new area, Waterfront Facility. It’s the same route as towards Looks to The Moon, but you must go further to the West.

You’ll see a different entrance when you reach Looks to the Moon. The Moon journey is similar to the Leg route from Five Pebbles, so be prepared for a long journey. Continue north/northeast until a large room containing her chamber’s exterior is reached. Continue climbing north to the Luna subregion. Finally, you’ll be able to reach her and deliver the pearl.

The pearl will be rewritten, and she’ll give your new goal, the communications array at Sky Islands. You can climb up to the top of the array to see the pearl and she will send her message.

Saint

The Saint is a new slugcat that was added to Downpour. It has a long tongue, and can’t use spears. Due to the spear issue and the overabundance enemies, you will spend most of your run trying escape death. You’ll be notified by sound and light whenever you enter a new region. These will also play at the beginning of each new cycle until you find the Echo. All Echoes need to be reached only once and there are no karma requirements to trigger them.

The Cycle

The Saint’s goal is to visit Echoes and achieve maximum karma. This would not be so difficult if there weren’t such low starting karma, and huge changes to the map.

These are the locations where you can find the Echoes:

– Sky Islands (Windswept Spires)

– Chimney Canopy, Solitary Towers

– Drainage System (Undergrowth).

– Shoreline (Frigid Coast).

– Subterranean (Primordial Underground)

– Farm Arrays (Desolate Fields)

– Shaded Citadel/Five Pebbles, Silent Construct

Once you have reached maximum karma, you can head to Subterranean to descend to the Void Sea. You can continue to go north in the next region.

The Cycle – My route

For anyone who might be interested, I’ll share my route. You can find your first echo in Sky Islands (Windswept Spires), roughly in the middle. I then moved to the east to Chimney Canopy, or Solitary Towers. Here another Echo can also be found.

The route to the Wall is blocked. Instead, head south into Industrial Complex (Icy Monument). Shaded Citadel is impossible if you don’t have enough good karma so head south into Garbage Wastes and Desolate Fields. Continue east to Shoreline (Frigid Coast), and then continue east to Looks to the Moon. Talk to her and then climb up on her housing to head west for another Echo.

Continue on north towards the Shaded Citadel entrance. A completely different route will take you to Silent Construct. Continue to the east, and climb north to reach another Echo. Continue west, but keep an eye on the route to Frigid Coast. You can find Five Pebbles if you go north, but it’s a terrible route full of spiders. If you continue to the west, you’ll find the Shaded Citadel karma gateway into Icy Monument.

Continue to Icy Monument and then west to Outskirts or Suburban Drifts. From there, head west to Farm Arrays (Desolate Fields). You can find the Echo very close to the entrance if you head south/southwest. To reach Subterranean (Primordial Underground), you must travel west/northwest from there. Just past the karma gate, hug the righthand wall until you reach the penultimate echo.

Continue south until you reach the Filtration System Subregion. Next, immediately turn northeast to Filtration. The Drainage System (Undergrowth) entrance should be reached. You can find the Echo by heading north or west.

Now you have all the Echoes. All you need to do is go back to Primordial Underground, and then head southwest. You’ll eventually reach the Void Sea entrance, or in this instance, a blind drop into Rubicon.

Keep going north, and use your new abilities to overcome all the watchers and creatures. Congratulations on reaching the Saint!
