Here you will find the full literary collection of Marie’s poems as well as a brief guide to her Social Link and how to form a romantic relationship with her.

Introduction, contents, presentation

One of the most intriguing features of Persona 4 Golden is getting to know the new resident of the Velvet Room, Marie. She gives us the opportunity to fuse demons from the new arcana, Aeon, as well as exploring a new dungeon if we maximise her Social Link before a certain date. And for all of you lovey-doveys out there, she is also a possible romance option.

To better understand her personality, we can take her outside the Velvet Room and relish her unique and awkwardly honest responses to everything and everyone around her. Marie may appear to be sullen, sarcastic, or even insecure at times yet behind the mask hides a polite and sensitive soul. That plethora of emotions can also be witnessed by reading the poems which she leaves around the Velvet Room.

I decide to write this guide exactly because I found something beautiful and rivieting in the simplicity of her words, and thus decided to share it with you all. Regarding the poem presentation, above each headline (in bold, underlined letters) you will see a parenthesis with a remark made by the protagonist himself. I decided to included these remarks as well since they add an additional explanatory layer to Marie’s literary fragments.

Finally, after the poem section you may find another one which includes a) the most impactful responses in order to maximise her Social Link rank by rank, b) the way to acquire the ultimate Persona of her corresponding arcana, c) advice on how to unlock the dungeon related to Marie and, d) information on how to start a romance with her.

The poems

(written in cute handwriting)
Sea Foam

Listen…
To my voice
My shouting, bellowing voice

Here I am
Pouring my blood into my words
Yelling at the very edge of the world

I am the little mermaid…
Unable to return, the little mermaid…
Fated to foam, the little mermaid…

(written in powerful strokes)
Fly!

Where am I going, you ask?
Don’t ask stupid questions.

I don’t need a map.
I throw away my compass.
My heart will show me the way.

I walk by myself.
Am I not lonely, you ask? Yeah, right!
I scorn the company of my own shadow.

Freedom! That is the rule!
Why don’t you try and hold me down?
I will die magnificently in front of you.

No one can break my wings!Persona 4 Golden - Velvet Poets Society: The complete collection of Marie's poems

(written in spiky handwriting)
You Killed Me

You are a murderer.

By your silent smile, by your composed voice,
By your dark eyes, by your bashful fingers
I am slain.

I am a corpse.
Foolish, wretched, happy.

Surely, I’ll simply rot away…

My last words…
Adieu, au revoir… mon cheri.

(written in cheerful handwriting)
Eternal Midnight

For mornings when I can’t see you
Spicy mint tea…

For brunch a marmalade muffin.
A touch of bitter fits my mood.

A sigh is stardust.
It’s like our own Milky Way.

I can’t catch up to your distant back.
Look! Twilight creeps up on us.

The distance to you
Is like an eternal night…

(written in funky handwriting)
All you clowns

Hey, you!
How long you gonna wear that ugly mask?
You know you ain’t got the guts for this task.

Cover yourself with paint
You’re acting like you ain’t
Afraid of whatcha got in store for your fate

You think you got me? Well, that’s too bad!
‘Cuz I ain’t stupid enough to get had!

So drop the pathetic act
I wanna dance and that’s a fact
Now quit your gawkin’ and start to react!

YEAH -YEAH! Now DANCE!

(written in violent handwriting)
My List

♦The Hated
People who are all talk. Lyin grown-ups!
Keeping up appearances. Hypocrites!
Myself! ← I hate myself!! Dumbass!!

♦The Liked
Animals. Only cute ones, though. Like cats.
Milk tea. I like lemon, too, though.
Black. Blue. Grey, too… Only dark grey.
And… Me.

(written in a neat manner)
Song of the Fallen AngelPersona 4 Golden - Velvet Poets Society: The complete collection of Marie's poems

The fallen angel is chained down.

Her wings torn off, eroded by prejudice,
Her last breaths full of black despair…
Do you know her name?

Will she eventually return to nothing,
Forced into the realm of oblivion……?
———No!
Her requiem will become a roar
And tear away the mask of hypocrisy!

Do you know her name,
She who will strike down the cowards
And tear down the lies?

That’s right, her name is……

(written in horrible script, as if someone wrote it with their off hand)
RELEASE YOURSELF

RELEASE YOURSELF!
FROM DESIRE! FROM IMPULSE!

LOGIC AND RATIONALES
ARE EXCUSES FOR THE WEAK!

RELEASE YOURSELF!
YOUR HEART’S VOICE! YOUR INTERNAL SCREAM!

IN EXCHANGE FOR A LOST VOICE
GRAB HOLD OF YOUR PROOF OF LIFE!

NEVER LET IT GO!

A freebie: How to conquer Marie’s heart

In this section you will find the most effective answers to:

  • maximise her Social Link
  • unlock the extra dungeon
  • unlock the ultimate Aeon Persona
  • get in a romantic relationship with her

Not only is Marie a talented poet but she also give us the opportunity to explore a new dungeon if we complete her Social Link. Since I only played the original Persona 4 back in the day, the first thing I did when I purchased the Golden version here on Steam was focusing on maximizing the brand new Aeon Social Link Marie offers. I did not regret my decision one bit. Not only that but I also romanced Marie since I found the awkwardness and honesty she “equips” herself with when exploring the world outside the Velvet Room very likeable.

What to keep in mind:

  1. Visiting the Velvet Room on the 18th of April and onwards initiates the S-Link.
  2. If another scene takes place, exit and enter the Velvet Room again.
  3. You can hang out with Marie on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
  4. Marie does not appear on rainy days.
  5. You must maximise her Social Link before the 31st of December to unlock the extra dungeon.
  6. The dungeon Hollow Forest will be available on February 13th.

The impactful answers will be hidden under a spoiler tag in case you want to experiment yourselves first. In some cases there are more than one “correct” responses in order to progress her Link. I just offeryou the ones that are both effective and to my liking. Also, the following table presents only the answers that affect the progress of the Link. For the rest, choose whichever you like. Be yourselves and conquer that heart!
