Learn how, in terms of aggression and the ability to perform a seamless multi-weapon combo, your Nioh gameplay can be on par with other character action games such as Bayonetta or DMC.

MG Flux II and Multi-Weapon Combo Finger Exercises

– If you can master Flux I & II and are good at dodging so enemies aren’t hitting your guard much, you can play aggressive in a way that’s on par with other character action games that don’t have a stamina bar (Metal Gear Rising, Ninja Gaiden, DMC, etc.). Granted, this playstyle is hard to achieve in New Game and is boosted by character level and gear choices.

– These MG Flux II exercises are to develop a basic strategy to incorporate Flux II into your playing. The point of using Flux and Flux II is to keep your ki up so you never have to wait for your ki to regen or always be dangerously low on ki so an enemy can knock you into an out of ki state.

– I also don’t like to rely on soul core attacks for ki regen, because I don’t want to have to have my choice of actions tempered.

– The 3 exercises always end in Low Stance. Of course there are other ways to MG Flux II that are useful if you want to end up in a different stance. For example, from a Low Stance attack you can Flux to Mid > High, or from a High Stance attack Flux to Low > Mid.

– Flux and Flux II have animations associated with them that lock you in place briefy. Tap block while fluxing and you’ll be free.

– Some people call flux weapon swapping MGF2WS, short for “Machine Gun Flux 2 Weapon Swap”. I didn’t include swapping weapons with flux 2 in these exercises because I’m not smooth enough with it to make it as seamless as swapping with a single flux. And with end-game ki in Nioh 2 boosted by Ult abilities I’m not inspired enough to practice this.

“Yo man, why do my attacks use so much ki, and my ki regen so slowly?”

– Ki consumption and regeneration are tied to your equipment weight. Most Beef Warriors prefer A agility (under 30% weight), however there some do well in B agility (30%-70%). A toughness with A agility is pretty easy to get, btw.

“Should I Flux II after every attack?”

If your goal is an aggressive beefed-out playstyle, how often you need to use Flux II will vary depending on your build tbh. I typically use Flux II after a string when I know I will want to go to low stance in order to do more dodging. Other than that, I will start to Flux II a lot when my ki gets below 50%, or when I know I’m going to perform a long attack string (like when pressuring human enemies.)

“Cool tricks, but all this is unnecessary lole”

I recognize that other people have fun with Nioh by trying to have powerful builds, so try and recognize that not everyone is trying to have fun in the same way as you before you make a comment that makes you sound like a dumbass.

“My flux seems super weak bro”

The ki returned on Flux and Flux II is actually tied to your Heart and Courage levels. At 99 Heart and 99 Courage you will get the best returns, around 212 ki for Flux I and 424 ki for Flux II (in addition to the ki you get back for the initial ki pulse). This is not explained anywhere in the game of course and we had to do a lot of testing in order to figure it out.

“The Ultimate Heart description says I will get more ki back when switching stances”

The in-game description for Ult Heart is wrong. I don’t know why. What Ult Heart actually does is give you back 60% more ki on a Ki Pulse, so this is actually pretty helpful even when fluxing since you technically have to ki pulse in order to Flux. I typically like to run with this and Ult Courage which has a flat -20% to my ki consumption. Ult Stamina is nice as well, it gives something like a -15% reduction in ki consumption.

1:47 Exercise 1
High Stance Attacks > Flux to Mid > Flux to Low

2:22 Exercise 2
Mid Stance Attacks > Flux to High > Flux to Low

2:48 Exercise 3
Low Stance Attacks > Flux to High > Flux to Mid > (switch to Low)

6:14 Exercise 4
Do some attacks > R1 > O > Dpad

6:46 Exercise 5
(On Ki Pulse) R1 > O > Dpad > Light Attacks

7:03 Exercise 6
(On Ki Pulse) R1 > O > Dpad > Heavy Attacks

7:21 Exercise 7
(On Ki Pulse) R1 > O > Dpad > L1 > Square

7:39 Exercise 8
(On Ki Pulse) R1 > O > Dpad > L1 > Triangle

9:05 Exercise 9
(On Ki Pulse) R1 > Triangle > L1 > Dpad

Continue flux weapon swap practice:

Flux into Low > Light attacks
Flux into Mid > Light attacks
Flux into High > Light attacks (repeat)

Then do the same for Heavies, L1 + Square and L1 + Triangle attacks.
