This is a guide in several steps to follow (in order) to discover all the subtleties of the game Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. This guide is for all types of players whether they just want to understand all the various ways to play it or begin to play it seriously and in a competitive way.

Game Presentation

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is a fighting game played with a single character as well as with two or three characters depending on the combinations chosen by the player.

You need to know that the fights in one versus one remove a large part of the options in combat, that’s why we will not talk about it in this tutorial. However, all the rules listed subsequently will apply also in fights with only one character.

The only difference is that the player will not have as many means to change characters depending on the situation, no support and no “Secret combined Technique “.

Differences with other fighting games

Unlike in other games like, for example, Marvel Versus Capcom or Dragon Ball Fighter Z, in Naruto Storm 4 you will not have several bars of life (one per character) but a single life bar that will apply to the character that will be “in fight”.

There are some advantages to this as the ability to continue to use all your offensive and defensive options no matters the state of your health unlike in the other games where you loose the use of a character if his life bar reaches zero.

You will keep all your characters and all your supports that do not suffer any damage if they are used as such (only the character you are playing at the time of the attack will take the shot) and can even allow you to fend off enemy attacks.

How to choose your characters

Firstly, we will deal with the most important point of the game : choosing the characters you will play

and progress with in the game.

This point can appear as obvious, even foolish if we think about it, but actually it’s not the case.

You will understand why subsequently.

In a preamble, I just can recommend to you to fully finish the History mode thus you can have all the characters available in the game. It allows me to rebound from an extremely important point : Don’t fear to test EVERY characters to create a list of these that you would like to play. It will be unfortunate to miss a game play that you may like just because you weren’t willing to give some time of yours to try the entire casting of the game.

After having chosen your first character, le jeu will suggest you automatically one or some characters who are linked to yours so that you can execute “A Secret Combined Technique”.

However, these techniques can also be used between two or three characters that aren’t linked together. The only important difference is that there will not be some particular animation between the chosen characters. However, I emphasise this point, the combination will do the SAME damages no matter if it’s built with two or three linked characters or not.

Once again, I belabour this point, a lot of players makes the mistake of choosing a first character and fill the rest of the team with what is suggested by the game : it’s a mistake that shouldn’t be redone at the risk of being unable to break away from this nasty habit. Fill characters are good but only if you are playing for fun without considering the competitive part of the game.

Choosing all your team will allow you to use it at its fully potential, providing you better options than these that automatic teams have.

With [LT] or [RT], you can choose your character’s outfit but be cautious because, with these same boutons, some characters will have an alternative version of themselves with different techniques depending of the version.

You can’t neglect that point : we can even consider these versions as different characters so don’t hesitate to test them in the same way as the rest of the game roster. Once your team chosen (two or three characters depending of your choices), you have the possibility to change your characters techniques. Thus, you can change the [Y+B] attack that consumes a low quantity of chakra as well as the [Y+Y+B] attack which will be, in some way, it’s ultimate attack and will consume much more chakra.

IMPORTANT : to make the comprehension of the techniques easier, I will call the[] attacks “SUPER” and the [Y+Y+B] attacks “ULTRA”.

Now, you must choose the field you will be fighting on : you have a big variety of fields at your disposal. They mostly resume key places of the manga/anime.

Some of these will be indicated as having “vacuum” : falling in the vacuum of these fields will make you lose a large quantity of life if none of your supports is there to prevent your fighting character of falling.
