This guide lists the various items in the game and their effects.

Swords

B is the base power for the sword. + is the maximum upgrade amount that is initially allowed. M is the number of mark slots. Mark is the mark that comes on the sword when you initially get it.

Name B + M Price Mark
Club 2 10 2 100 Rustproof
Bronze Sword 4 20 3 1000 none
Steel Sword 6 30 4 2000 none
Knight Sword 8 30 5 5000 none
Dragon Hater 10 50 6 5000 Anti-Dragon
Beast Hater 8 30 4 5000 Anti-Beast
Harpy Hater 6 30 4 5000 Anti-Aerial
Devil Hater 8 30 4 5000 Anti-Devil
Plant Sickle 8 30 4 5000 Anti-Plant
Harpuia Sword 4 30 6 10000 Twice Attacks
Katana Kamaitachi 4 30 6 8000 Three-way Attack
Pickax 4 30 2 5000 Wall Dig
True Sword 6 20 4 5000 Accurate

There is a best sword, and the dragon hater is it. The only reasons to use any other sword for combat are if you don’t yet have a dragon hater, get a very lucky roll from an alpha monster drop, or are doing Elven Hidden Village and can’t bring anything besides a club. The pickax is only intended for use to drill through walls, and every time you attack a wall with it will decrease its enhancement value until it breaks.

Sword marks

The “turns” column is the number of turns to charge a purple mark before you can use it. The “source” column is where the mark comes from, which can be from a sword that has the mark when you get it, or from using special synthesis to have a fruit apply a mark. Purple marks do not have a consistent source, but a random one is added to any sword that comes from an alpha monster drop.

Name Color Turns Source Effect
Absolute Slash Purple 50 Attack does high damage but uses two turns
Acceleration Fog Purple 200 Applies swift to you and nearby friends
Amaterasu Purple 500 Both grimoires of light and sunshine

Flying Slash Purple 20 Jump forward two squares and then attack

Teleport Circle Purple 30 Second use warps you to first use location
Unarmored Soul Purple 20 Destroy gear to increase attack
Three-way Attack Red Katana Kamaitachi Attack three squares at once in an arc
Twice Attacks Red Harpuia Sword Attack twice instead of once
Wall Dig Red Pickax Can destroy walls by attacking them

Skill Enhancement Yellow Mana Fruit Makes the purple mark effect stronger

Rage Attack Green Anger Fruit Chance to anger enemy
Rise in Pow Green Power Fruit Increase your power by 1

Slow Attack Green Slow Fruit Chance to slow enemy

A sword can only have one purple mark, and only swords that come from alpha monster drops will have one. A sword can also have only one red mark. Swords can have multiple marks of other colors, and even multiple copies of the same mark. Multiple copies of a blue mark will not stack, as once you’re completely immune to something, you can’t really be more immune to it. Multiple copies of the same green or yellow mark will stack. For example, if you have 4 attack recovery marks on a sword, each time you attack a monster, you’ll recover 8 health instead of 2. The attack recovery mark can be applied by special synthesis using any recovery fruit, including the small, big, or large varieties.

Shields

As with swords, B is the base power for the shield. + is the maximum upgrade amount that is initially allowed. M is the number of mark slots. Mark is the mark that comes on the sword when you initially get it.

Name B + M Price Mark
Wood Shield 1 10 2 100 Rustproof
Bronze Shield 2 20 2 1000 none
Steel Shield 4 30 3 2000 none
Knight Shield 6 30 4 5000 none
Cat Shield 4 20 2 2000 Anti-Theft
Flip Shield 8 30 5 3000 Anti-Flip
Heavy Shield 5 30 3 3000 Heavy Equipment
Blast Shield 6 30 4 3000 Anti-Blast
Counter Shield 6 30 4 3000 Damage Reflection
Fire Shield 8 50 5 3000 Fire Guard
Wind Shield 2 50 4 3000 Wind Bressing [sic]
Magic Counter 2 50 4 3000 Magic Counter

The intrinsic mark on the wind shield and magic counter are both purple marks. That allows you to get a purple mark on a shield not dropped by an alpha monster. The wind bressing mark is pretty useful, too. As such, it is debatable as to whether the best shield is the wind shield or the fire shield, which gives better stats but no purple mark. Of course, a very lucky drop from an alpha monster that gives a good purple mark and otherwise great stats could beat either.

Shield marks

As with sword marks, the “turns” column is the number of turns that it takes for a purple mark to charge. Unlike with swords, purple marks can’t be manually used. Rather, they trigger if particular conditions are met and the mark is fully charged. For example, the wind bressing [sic] mark makes it so that something thrown at you will miss if the mark is fully charged. This uses up the mark’s charge, so if something is thrown at you on two consecutive turns, the second will hit you.

Also as with sword marks, the “source” of the mark is the shield that always has the mark, or else the fruit that can be used to apply the mark via special synthesis. Two shields come with intrinsic purple marks rather than a mark of other colors, and those are listed. Other shields that are dropped by an alpha monster can have any purple mark, including wind bressing and magic counter.

Name Color Turns Source Effect
Fox Bressing [sic] Purple 100 Eating fried tofu grants buffs
Fruit Plant Purple 500 Drop fruit on the ground
Girls Bressing [sic] Purple 800 Revive a friend who dies
Magic Counter Purple 25 Magic Counter Fire a magic bullet
Stone Wall Purple 150 Next melee attack will miss you
Wind Bressing [sic] Purple 15 Wind Shield Next thrown object will miss you
Anti-Blast Blue Blast Shield Cut explosion damage taken by half
Anti-Blinding Blue Blinding Fruit Grant immunity to blindness
Anti-Confusion Blue Confusion Fruit Grant immunity to confusion
Anti-Decrease in Pow Blue Antidote Fruit Grant immunity to power decreases
Anti-Flip Blue Flip Shield Grant immunity to goblins' flip attacks
Anti-Paralysis Blue Paralysis Fruit Grant immunity to paralysis
Anti-Poison Blue Poison Fruit Grant immunity to poison
Anti-Rage Blue Anger Fruit Grant immunity to anger
Anti-Seal Blue Seal Fruit Grant immunity to sealing (silence)
Anti-Sleep Blue Sleepy Fruit Grant immunity to sleep
Anti-Slow Blue Slow Fruit Grant immunity to slow
Anti-Theft Blue Cat Shield Grant immunity to cats' steal skills
Heavy Equipment Blue Heavy Shield Grant immunity to enemies' moving you
Rustproof Blue Wood Shield Acid traps will not decrease enhancement
Increase Charge Speed Yellow Swift Fruit Purple mark recharges faster
Skill Enhancement Yellow Mana Fruit Makes the purple mark effect stronger
Damage Recovery Green Recover Fruit When damaged, recover 2 health
Damage Reflection Green Counter Shield Reflects some damage from normal attacks
Fire Guard Green Fire Shield Reduce dragons' fire attack
Rise in Pow Green Power Fruit Increase your power by 1

As with sword marks, a shield can only have one purple mark. Only a wind shield, magic counter, or shield that drops from an alpha monster will have a purple mark. You can have multiple copies of any other mark, and their effects stack for green or yellow marks, but not for blue marks. Once you’re immune to something, you can’t be more immune to it.

There wasn’t really space in the above table, but a few marks require more explanation. The Fox Bressing mark will grant the swift and strengthen buffs. The Heavy Equipment mark will prevent griffins and ogres from throwing you, making those skills instead do nothing, except that a Hraesvelgr is strong enough to carry you anyway. The Fire Guard skill will cut the damage that dragons’ fire attacks do by half, and also prevent it from burning items in your inventory.

Fruits

The listed effects of fruit are if you eat it yourself. You can mostly cause the same effect on monsters by throwing it at them. The listed marks are if you use the fruit for special synthesis to apply a mark to a sword or shield. You can look up the effects of the marks in the marks section.

Bread

The main purpose of bread is to refill your stamina, though some types of bread have additional effects. You normally lose one stamina per 18 turns. Wearing a bracelet of stamina will cut this rate in half, to one stamina per 36 turns. Wearing a hungry bracelet will double it to one stamina per 9 turns.

Type Stamina Effects
Bread 50
Rotten Bread 30 Random negative effect
Magic Bread 30 Random positive effect
Big Bread 100
Large Bread 110 Increase max stamina by 10

Bags

There is only one type of bag in the game, the Magic Pouch. It uses an inventory slot and can hold several items inside of it. By default, a bag comes with 4-6 slots when acquired. This can be expanded up to eight slots by using grimoires of pouch expansion.

Staffs

There are staffs in the game. I didn’t forget about them. I’m not going to document them.
