This guide will show to delete the Steam library game to “buy it” for free. This includes all the DLCs.

Introduction

All your achievements will be saved. I am not sure if the save files will be kept. It is straightforward – you do not need to uninstall and reinstall the game. It took less than five seconds to figure it out. I’m sure that you can do it under one minute if your speed run is good.

You can see the image below. You will still have access all DLCs.

This can be fixed by using the optional part of the guide. The image below shows the results.

Why I did that

After discovering the DLC store, I thought that I had acquired all available DLC packs – at least I thought so at first! A few months later however, I discovered I wasn’t in possession of RPK DLC which was exclusive to certain regions or retailers preordering.

When I attempted to trade an RPK DLC for free, I became very hopeful – hoping I’d finally complete my collection for this game. When Mero LL became available free, however, my hopes rose sky-high – only for me to discover later that RPK wasn’t anywhere to be found! When launching the game itself I saw that she hadn’t appeared either!

As soon as I remembered I could delete games in their Steam library, I did so and got all of the DLCs for free – including RPK game itself!

Metro LL is deleted from the Steam library

Find the game from your Steam library and launch it. Close it again. You can find the “help’ menu at the top right of the Steam window. From there, click on “Steam support”.

Metro LL is selected, and then “I wish to permanently remove this account”

Then choose the version of the games you own. I took the screenshots only after I’d already done that, so the screenshots below are the 2023 version.

Rebuying the Game

Metro LL will be available in your library. Click the purchase button.

Click on the Add to Account button.

Et voila! Now you can play the DLCs and start the game!

Optional: Reinstall your old version.

This step is optional but I recommend doing it as it won’t hurt. You can restore the game by going to the Steam Support page, selecting Metro LL and then the headline stating that the game was not in your library. You own both versions immediately.
