Saving / Loading

From the menu you can select “New Game” or “Load.” Sign your name – this then becomes your signature (changeable at any time) in the game that is used to save progress or sign level up certificates.
From the book you can select options, then open up the book to enter the game. A similar in-game journal can be used to save your game by signing one of the save slots on the inside of the book.

Getting Started and Basic Movement

To transition into third person, move the analog sticks to control the character (or trackpad in case of the Vive). Using this method you can move from place to place similar to VR teleportation. Once at a destination you can press the action button to phase back into VR.

Rotating the player while out of body can easily re-orient your direction. Once you re-inhabit your player you will be facing the new direction.

Using the available options, you can select to display or hide the visual and haptic clues to aware yourself if you are in first person or third person.

Equipment Belt

Around your waist you have an equipment belt that can store a weapon, quiver, potion(or fuel gem) in the pouches, as well as keys on the key ring.

Equipping a weapon
Placing a weapon atop your belt will equip the weapon into into place on the belt. You can then sheath and unsheath the weapon into the scabbard as needed. To unequip your sword grab the sword lower on the scabbard, instead of the handle. If you equip the sword onto the opposite side you will place the player in left handed mode which will influence how you hold your shield as well.

The equipment belt on the equipment stand mirrors your character exactly.

You can equip potions among other objects directly onto the equipment stand. Equipping in this way will mirror the equipment on your character and vice versa.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Similarly you can equip keys onto your belt, or equivalently on the stand.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Backpack

Approaching counters in key areas will present you with a place to put your knapsack. The knapsack is hidden most of the time as it is understood to be either attached to the player or placed on a table.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

The backpack has 2 sections: the upper section for large objects and the lower section for small objects.

You can drop most objects into the bag for storage or to use later or sell. Dropping an item into the bag will minimize it into the bag.

You can use the analog stick or trackpad on the right controller to scroll though all of the available objects in that section of the backpack.

You can grab the object right out of the bag and it becomes a world object again.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

If you are in a non-crafting and non-inventory area you can throw an object into the air and it will go into your bag. Objects left on the floor will go into your bag if they don’t have a counter or inventory they belong to close by.

Armor

The equipment stand in your inventory area is a representation of you. It mirrors all your equipment including your armor. You stats and armor class are shown on the wall beside your armor stand.
[628584957731e]

To equip armor, you can interact with yourself or the armor stand. You can attach armor to the stand directly, to yourself in third person and even to yourself in first person.

Inventory

Inventory

The workshop contains the player’s inventory in various places. Once your inventory is full for any item of that type, you won’t be able to purchase, be rewarded, or mine any more of that item type, so make sure you sell your wares to make enough room.

Items can be swapped between slots in the inventories. Equipped or lost items will return here (or to the bag if too far away).

The weapon queue is your collection of weapons you take to battle.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

The first slot on the queue is a mirror of your currently equipped weapon. This is also the same as on the equipment stand, and you can equip your main weapon in any of these three places.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

You can add more swords to the weapon queue to build up your armory for battle.

Mining

Fuel Gem

The mine wash plant requires fuel gems to operate. These gems can be located at the merchant. They are then placed on the wash plant panel in the mine.

Once filled, the panel will display how long the fuel gem will last. This will tick down even if you leave the mine. While active, the wash plant will slowly churn out raw ore for you to use in the forge.

Spent fuel gems will sell for 1 coin, thats the only way to get rid of them currently.

Smithing

Smithing Books

Weapon components and their requirement information can be found in smithing books located in the merchant area. Once purchased, these books allow you to select what type of weapon component you desire to create on the anvil.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

The book you wish to use must be placed on the book stand directly behind the anvil for your selection to work.

Ore

Ore is required to create the metal ingots you need for your weapon components. Ore is gathered from your wash plant located in the mine. You can use your backpack to bring them to the smithing area of your workshop.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Casting Metal

In order to forge your blades you must first consolidate your raw materials in metal ingots. You can do this by placing them into your smelting crucible and heating it up with your forge. Make sure your forge has some coal in it first or it wont heat up!

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Your smithing book will inform you on what raw materials you will need for each metal type.

Your ore will begin to melt and become hot liquid metal. From here you need to pick up your crucible (make sure not to spill!) and pour your bubbling metal concoction into one of the two ingot molds in your smithing area. You will hear an audible ding when the mold is full.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

The smithing book will contain what ingot sizes you need for each component.

Cooling Objects

The objects you forge will be too hot to use with your hands; you can cool them down using the cooling pond in the smithing area.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Hammering Ingots

Once you’ve setup your weapon component selection from the smithing book and have the required ingots you can now forge them into their final shape. Place an ingot into the forge while it’s hot and once it’s glowing, bring it to the anvil and hammer away.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Hammer until it stops sparking, cool with the cooling pond and you’ve created your weapon component.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

How to Start the Forge

To start the forge you need to add airflow with the bellows by spinning the crank beside it. If the embers do not glow red then you’re out of coal and need to place more inside the forge. Coal can be purchased from the merchant or earned in battle. More coal will make the forge hotter, but anything more than 5 pieces of coal wont add any additional effect.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Holding the Crucible

The crucible requires both hands to operate. To rotate the crucible and pour its contents you must rotate the hand farthest from the crucible base.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Tools

All the basic tools you’ll need to start crafting are located on the main table to the right of the forge.

  • Tongs: If an object is too hot to handle with your hands you can use the tongs to move them around.
  • Hammer: The hammer is used to form your weapon components out of ingots.
  • Molds: Ingot molds are used to hold molten metal from the crucible and create ingots

In order to use the tongs vive/valve: grab them normally. Then grip with the grips on the vive controller handles – this will allow them to stay in your hand. Then the trigger now controls them.

Also note this is the same for the scoop in the merchant.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Increasing level sword require better and better materials. There are three versions of each sword type. Only the lowest type of any given sword can be bought in the store. The Higher the level of blade material the better it will be able to cut enemy armor in the time chamber! This can vastly increase survivability.

Lathe

The lathe can be used to machine various creations: including parts for weapon making and arrow shafts for fletching.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Youll need the correct lathe blade and lumber attached to the machine. Also you need to engage the tooling teeth by grabbing the lever and pulling it across. Once in place the block should spin correctly.

Required Components

To craft a bow you need two components: an elongated wooden block and some string.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

Both of these can be purchased from the merchant.

Combining

Once both components are bought you can bring them over to the lathe area of your workshop and begin planing your bow shape out from the wood. Grab the axe tool on the table and begin shaving off the wood, making sure the side of the blade is perpendicular with the wood or it won’t shave anything off.

The time chamber has a large number dial which is your means of selecting the level in which to start your battle. Every 10 levels you will receive a checkpoint that you can return to when your game is over. The maximum level you are able to return to is displayed on the handle of the crank. Turn the crank to select your desired starting point.

Battle System

Equipment

You will need to bring a variety of equipment before you begin battle.

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

  • Sword: Having your sword equipped is crucial to your success in battle. You will be tested mainly through your skills with your sword. Apart from striking your targets normally, you are also able to throw your sword to hit further targets by releasing the trigger, and recalling it by pressing back down on the trigger. However, throwing your sword deprives you of your only means of melee combat so time your throws well.
    [6285849577644]
  • Shield: Your shield is secondary to your sword. Use it to block incoming projectiles such as arrows. Your chosen shield will automatically equip upon drawing your sword and unequip upon re-sheathing your sword
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started
  • Bow: Your bow is your go to for hitting targets in the distance with precision. To use the bow in battle, reach for your back and grab with the triggers to equip the bow, then pick up an arrow from your quiver, hold it up to your bow, draw back, and fire. With enough skill, you can also catch arrows that are flying at you instead of blocking them, and fire that instead of an arrow from your quiver.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started
  • Potions: When you’re in a pinch, you can use a potion to regain health or other other useful effects. Your potion belt is located on your right if you are right handed, and it is equipped on your left if you are left handed. To use a potion, grab it from your potion belt, bring it to your face, and tilt it up in a drinking motion.

Targets

Functionally, there are 3 main types of targets that you will encounter. All of these targets will be made of a different material that determine how much your weapon is damaged when striking it.
Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

  • Dummies/Standing Targets: These are your basic targets that will be coming at you on the conveyor belt. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Hitting these armored parts will cause your weapon to take more damage and possibly break, so avoid hitting the armored parts whenever possible. Shooting a target directly in the center with an arrow will yield you more rewards.
  • Flying Targets: These targets fly at you and generally come at you faster than the standing targets. Shooting one of these targets directly in the center with an arrow will yield you more rewards.
  • Projectiles: Projectiles can be cut, however you will mainly be blocking these with your shield. In the case of arrows (currently arrows are the only projectiles in the game), you may catch them instead of cutting or blocking and fire it back at another target.

Time Chamber Displays

While in the time chamber, there are a number of displays to keep your eye on:

    [6285849577644]

  • Health Bar and Percentage: One of the most important things to keep track of is your health. You will see to your right, a board labeled “Health” that displays a percentage of your health. There is also a stack of totems to your right, that act as a health bar. As you take damage, the segments of the totem will turn from a green smile to a red frown.
  • Progress Bar and Level Display: At the far end of the chamber, above where the targets are coming from, you will see a pulley system moving left to right that represents your progress in the current level. You can also see what level you are currently on from the board hanging to your left that reads “Level”.
  • Weapon Queue: The weapon queue sign to your left, under the level sign, displays how many weapons you have left, what kind of weapon, and how much durability you have left on your weapon.

Rewards

Your time in the Time Chamber will be rewarded with money, items, crafting components and more. Striking down dummies and clearing levels will yield rewards.

Battle End

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

When you end a battle you will receive your rewards from your session. Your statistics for that session will also be displayed.

  • Missing targets and projectiles will cause you to take health damage. Letting your health drop to zero will cause you to end battle.
  • Hitting dummies with your sword will cause it to take damage. The harder the material, the more damage it will take. Once a weapon takes enough damage, it will break. If all of your weapons break, you will end battle.
  • Certain levels have certain requirements (ie. bow only levels). If you do not meet the requirements of the level, you will be helpless to fight back.

Game Modes

Once in the Time Chamber, you will be thrown into one of 3 game modes, each with their own twist. It will be indicated to you which game mode you will be entering before the level begins via a drop-down with one of the three symbols below:

Master Bladesmith - Beginners Guide in 2021 + How to Get Started

  • Normal Mode: This is your default game mode where you have access to all of your equipment (except for the bow) and are faced with all of your normal targets.
  • Bow Only Mode: Like the name implies, you will only have access to your bow in this mode. All other equipment (swords and shields) will temporarily be unavailable for the level. Entering a level with this mode without a bow will result in ending the battle.
  • Bare Handed ModeCOMING SOON: In this mode, all of your equipment becomes unavailable and you must deal with targets with what is thrown at you. Unlike other game modes, low durability swords will be thrown at you. You must use these swords to deal with incoming targets instead of relying on your pre-made equipment.
