Auto Settings and Aids to Turn Off
This is how we will do it professionally. To have full control over your drifts and angles, you’ll need all driving aids and assistance in the settings.
How to Get the Drift Down
How does Drifting Work?
Drift can be triggered by pressing or holding Shift. Drifting allows for sharper turns and speeds up your nitro boost gauge in Speed mode. A perfect drift can also give you a slight speed boost.
Finding the Right Angle
You will notice that Shift is more sensitive the longer you hold it. You can tap shift while turning right without fear by holding the right arrow key.
Holding shift will cause a sharp turn by pressing the right arrow key. This will likely send you into the wall.
For sharp turns, holding the shift longer is a good idea. However, it would be best if you released it before you spin.
Finishing the Drift
If you have not already, release shift. Counter steering simply turns left or right after a right-hand drift to straighten your kart.
Get an instant boost
Getting the Boost
A perfect drift can boost you and bring you back up to speed.
Accelerate right after your drift ends to achieve this boost. After completing your counter turn to straighten yourself, release the accelerator key and immediately press it down. It will give you an immediate boost if you time it correctly.
Perform Fast Drifts and Maintain Speed
Nitro Boost
Speed mode has a key aspect: Driving reduces the time it takes to get your next nitro boost. A nitro boost before a drift will result in a longer, wider, and more powerful drift. This will fill up your nitro gauge far more than a drift with no boost.
This allows you to keep your top speed while drifting. To maintain better control, you will need to tap shift instead to hold it.
Don’t let the accelerator go while drifting, as this will cancel the boost. If your nitro boost is still active, don’t try to get the instant boost during drifting. This will cause you to lose speed and cancel your nitro boost. If your drift is over, you can only get the drift instant boost.
The End
That’s it! It is best to practice drifting yourself, as not all aspects of drifting can be explained easily.
As I learn more tips for drifting, I’ll be updating the guide. Thank you for reading!
