How to get started as a farmer –
How to get your hands on that special something!
Introduction to crops
For every seed you plant, you can harvest from one up to six crops, and up to three times (with multiple harvests in the proper season), dependant on the plant type.
Crops come in four different quality levels :
common (grey frame), good (green frame), superior (blue frame) and legendary (golden frame) :
A single harvest of Ice Beans.
After your first harvest, your notes will log the plant, its habits (i.e. best growing season etc.) as well as the number of crops and the quality you harvested from it.
Once you acquire a recipe for the crop, like how to turn Soybeans into Soy Sauce, this will also be visible under the same Library Tab.
Legendary Crops
In the upper right-hand corner of your library entry, you can see what legendary crop you might grow from this seed:
Each has their proper name.
While some are obvious (like Super Wheat growing from Wheat), some of them might confuse you if they pop up in quests and you haven’t yet harvested any of the crop.
That’s when you might start looking for seeds that don’t exist.
The Soulgrass even has two kinds of legendary crops!

Where to buy seeds
Your first stop to buying seeds is the Vegetable Stall on the Harbour Promenade.
Tian Qing has a permanent stock, like Soy Bean, Bok Choy and Rice Seeds, and rotating stock, like Cucumber, Potato, Bellpepper and Tomato seeds. She sells 30 each of the permanent stock (renewing every solar cycle). She also has special weekly offers of 10 each.
The Wandering Vendor only sells Ice Bean Seeds and Soulgrass Seeds.
Dr. Sun also sells seeds for Jujube, Anima Fruit, Mulberry Leaf and Brassica Flower.
Your most important source for seeds will be the Qiongzhen Pavilion. Not only does Ji have the largest selection, with a maximum of 99 each,
through the R&D extension, you can also unlock new seeds for the Pavilion and open the trade routes that will allow you access to further regions and even more seeds!
Chances and Nudges
The chances seem to vary from type to type.
Of course, the seed quality plays a major role. That’s why you even have a chance at getting legendary crops right from the start, since Wei Hong hands you superior seeds he found at the temple site.
Also, the higher your divinity stat, the higher your chances of harvesting high-quality crops.
Remember to sell the good crops, but keep the superior (at least 10) and legendary crops for the quests!
Want to nudge Lady Luck?
Re-starting the day will also re-roll your chances of harvesting a legendary crop.
Epilogue

Because nobody should have to be frustrated by playing Immortal Life!
I will add to this guide if the game progresses (EA, remember).
Further information from more advanced players would be appreciated and will be added here.
