Welcome to Hubris – Menu Options & Controls Guide.

This guide is to identify the different choices on the Hubris menu. At the start of the game, the menu will appear. Additionally, the menu is always accessible while playing. The Hubris menu options are all described in detail in this guide.

The Main Menu

Gameplay

This menu allows you to adjust the movement options and activate motion sickness prevention.

Main hand – The indicated controllers’ joystick (left or right) will be used to move. To look around, the opposite controller will be used.

Difficulty: This will determine how much damage you inflict and how many enemies you can summon. Trooper counts as normal, Veteran is the most difficult difficulty, and Recruit is easy.

Vignette – This adds a vignette to your screen, depending on the setting. The vignette reduces motion sickness when you play. [On turn] will apply a vignette to your joystick when you rotate it. [Speed scale] will apply vignette and scale it according to your falling speed and movement. [always on] will apply the vignette.

Vignette size: This affects the intensity of the Vignette

Climb-up speed is the speed at which you automatically climb on a ledge when you push or pull yourself up.

Run direction is the setting that determines the forward movement of the player character. The forward movement can be based on your head or the controller’s direction.

Sprint with triggers: Toggle to allow sprinting using the triggers

Sprint Type is how you use sprint. [Pressed] This allows you to sprint while holding the button. [Single Press] Allows you to click for sprinting. When movement is complete, sprinting will stop automatically. [Toggle] Allows you to toggle sprinting on and off, making it permanent.

Turn Degrees: This setting adjusts the speed and angle at which you turn.

Turn Style – [Smooth turn] will continue to turn the player, while [Snap Turn] snaps the person in a fixed angle.

Graphics

Resolution scale is this setting that scales the screen resolution. High resolution can affect performance.

Climbing Heighlights – Toggles the blue climbhelpers demonstrating what can be climbed on and offline.

Water Refraction: Toggles warping and deformation under water.

Phased controllers: This shows where your controllers are located when they collide with the environment.

Sharpening: This sharpens your image. Performance might be affected by high sharpness values.

You can set the following settings to [Performance] and [Quality]. Performance makes the game run more smoothly, while Quality makes it look better.

Shadows: This affects the shadow quality.

Ambient Occlusion: This affects the occlusion Shadows.

Reflections: This affects light reflections on surfaces.

Models: This affects the meshes in the game.

Desktop Mirror can be set to [Enabled] and [disabled]. Enabled will display the game on your computer screen and your VR headset. Disabled will display a black screen on your computer.

Seated/Standing

This allows you to switch between standing and seated modes. You can use the crouch buttons in both modes to hide behind the cover or grab things. The standing mode will use the height of your actual height, while seated mode will force it to a predetermined height.

Sound & Language

You can enable subtitles and select your language.

Subtitles enabled: Toggles the subtitles on/off.

Font size: Increases/decreases the size of subtitles

Subtitle language: Here, you can choose any supported language for the subtitles.

Calibrate Arms

Arm calibration allows you to calibrate your arms or recalibrate them. This will adjust the arm’s length to match the player’s arms. Incorrectly calibrated arms can make them appear shorter in the game than they are. If this is the case, you should calibrate the arms until it feels right.

Calibrate Aim

The aim calibration allows you to adjust the angle of your pistol shots. It can be set manually or automatically.

Load

You can now load the six last saved games you made while playing.

After playing, you can start a new game or choose a slot. The save slots will be visible behind the player as the game starts. To select the correct save slot, click on the button to open any cabin. Each saves slot can have six saves.
