Guide for playing HW1 factions (Kushan/Taidan in Multiplayer on Player Patch 2.0

Introduction

This guide is for HW1 factions (Kushan/Taidan) on Multiplayer on Player Patch 3.0 (. It’s the main version of online multiplayer).

Start the game

Eco:

– Send your first collectors immediately to work

– Send your Carrier to the natural expansion

– Place 3 collectors on MS and Carrier in a queue and send them to natural expansion

– Adjust the above according to map to ensure that no collector is waiting

Scouting:

– Create scouts to send to the location of your opponent.

Research:

– Create a research ship

The next step will depend on whether you are facing an HW1 or HW2 opponent.

Vs HW1 factions

HW1 vs HW1 matchup, the recommended ship progression for HW1 is Corvettes-> Frigates-> Fighters-> Capitals. This means that you start with Corvettes and then add Frigates, etc.

– Corvettes: Start with Light Corvettes, then add Repair Corvettes or Heavy Corvettes, and then attack

– Frigates: Start with Assault Frigates, then add support Frigates and Ion Frigates

– Fighters: Add Intercepters/Bombers, depending on what’s required

Capitals: Probably 1 more Carrier, Destroyers and Missile Destroyers. Heavy Cruisers

Eco:

Start with 2 patches. However, when the Frigates + Corvettes fight stalls, you can expand to a third patch

Other openings

Fighter opening is not as effective as Corvette opening, because Light Corvettes are extremely efficient vs fighters.

Frigate opening is slow. Heavy Corvettes are better than Frigates.

Notes:

– Be aggressive with your corvettes

When possible, salvage corvettes should be used

Vs HW2 factions

In the HW1 vs. HW2 match-up the recommended ship progression would be Fighters -> Frigates-> Corvettes-> Capitals. This means that you start with Fighters and then add Frigates, etc.

Fighters: Build both Bombers and Intercepters, and get rushing

– Frigates: Start with Assault Frigates, then add support Frigates and Ion Frigates

– Corvettes: Start with Light Corvettes, then add Repair Corvettes or Heavy Corvettes

Capitals: Probably 1 more Carrier, Destroyers and Missile Destroyers. Heavy Cruisers

Eco:

You should start with 2 patches. However, if the initial Fighters rush stops, you can expand to a third patch

Other openings

– Corvette opening against HW2 factions is not recommended because Vaygr lance fighters, Hiigaran torpedo frigates and Hiigaran torpedo ships are very effective against corvettes

– Frigate opening is too slow

Notes:

– Be aggressive. HW2 factions will be stronger and more productive late-game than HW1. HW1 faction will likely lose.

When possible, salvage corvettes should be used
