Half-Life – The PC Gaming Magazine CD-ROMs Guide 1

This here is my comprehensive list of CD-ROMs bundled with many PC Gaming Magazines containing maps & modifications for Half-Life 1 released between early-1999 to the mid-2000s, including some even including either the older Team Fortress Cla*sic & Deathmatch Cla*sic mod releases, a standalone release of Opposing Force’s CTF multiplayer mode, one of the Counter-Strike or Day of Defeat betas, or the mod releases of Counter-Strike retail versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5.

This here is a follow up on my list of unofficial add-on CD-ROMs released for Half-Life 1, this time focusing on CD-ROMs bundled with PC Gaming Magazines.

Notice, Once Again, I can’t provide download links to these add-on CD-ROMs for obvious copyright reasons, because I don’t want to violate the Steam Community guidelines on download links to other sites. Though fortunately, you can find all of these on Internet Archive, so these may not be hard to find after all, you just got to have the right software to extract the files.

PC Gamer: The Extended Play Collection Volume 3 – An add-on disc bundled with the February 1999 issue (presumably?) of PC Gamer, containing the USS Darkstar mod for Half-Life & other single-player levels.

PC Zone Issue #74 CD – A demo disc bundled with the March 1999 issue of PC Zone, containing 26 extra multiplayer maps for Half-Life.

PC Zone Issue #77 CD – A demo disc bundled with the June 1999 issue of PC Zone, containing the Team Fortress Cla*sic mod for Half-Life before Steam existed.

Australian PC Authority CD June 1999 – A demo disc bundled with the June 1999 issue of Australian PC Authority, containing the Team Fortress Cla*sic mod for Half-Life, again before Steam even existed.

PC Zone Issue #79 CD – A demo disc bundled with the August 1999 issue of PC Zone, containing 21 single-player missions for Half-Life.

PC Zone Issue #84 CD – A demo disc bundled with the Xmas 1999 issue of PC Zone, containing the Redemption mod, an earlier version of the Absolute Redemption mod for Half-Life.

PC Zone Issue #88 Bonus CD – A coverdisc bundled with the April 2000 issue of PC Zone, containing Counter-Strike Betas 4.0 & 5.2, 27 custom maps for Counter-Strike, 96 multiplayer maps for Half-Life & 9 Half-Life multiplayer mods

PC Zone Issue #93 CD – A demo disc bundled with the September 2000 issue of PC Zone, containing Counter-Strike Beta 6.6.

Todo Half-Life (AKA Totally Half-Life) – An add-on CD-ROM that was bundled with the Spanish version of the famous PC-Gamer magazine: “Juegos y Jugadores para PC”, issued in October 2000, containing extra skins, models, mods & a handful of single-player & multi-player maps for Half-Life & some for Opposing Force

PC Zone Issue #94 CDs – Disc one out of two demo discs bundled with the October 2000 issue of PC Zone, containing 25 maps for Action Half-Life, 33 custom maps for Counter-Strike & 43 custom maps for Team Fortress Cla*sic.

PC Gamer CD 5.14 – A demo disc bundled with the November 2000 issue of PC Gamer, containing a stand-alone version of Half-Life Opposing Force’s CTF multiplayer mode

PC Zone Issue #106 CD 1 – A demo disc bundled with the September 2001 issue of PC Zone, Containing the Deathmatch Cla*sic mod release & the Wanted mod for Half-Life, released about two weeks before the 9/11 attacks.

PC Zone Issue #107 CD 2 – Disc two out of two demo discs bundled with the October 2001 issue of PC Zone, containing The Opera mod for Half-Life.

PC Zone Issue #109 CD 1 – Disc one out of two demo discs bundled with the December 2001 issue of PC Zone, containing the the mod release of Counter-Strike Retail 1.3.

PC Zone Issue #110 CD 2 – Disc Two out of two demo discs bundled with Christmas 2001 issue of PC Zone, containing the Azure Sheep mod for Half-Life.

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 2/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the February 2002 issue of LEVEL CD-ROM. containing the They Hunger mod for Half-Life (probably only one of the episodes, if I’m right).

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 3/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the March 2002 issue of LEVEL CD-ROM, containing the Poke646 mod for Half-Life

Action Plus 3/2002 – A Shareware disc bundled with the March 2002 issue of Action Plus (PowerPlus), containing Worldcraft Version 3, the Half-Life Standard SDK, They Hunger Episode 3, Absolute Redemption, RHO-BOT Version 2 & the Sweet Half-Life mod.

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 4/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the April 2002 issue of Level CD-ROM, containing an older version of the Day of Defeat mod for Half-Life.

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 5/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the May 2002 issue of LEVEL CD-ROM, containing the BuzzyBots mod for Half-Life

Świat Gier Komputerowych CD 5/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the May 2002 issue of Świat Gier Komputerowych, containing the Poke646 mod for Half-Life.

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 6/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the June 2002 issue of LEVEL CD-ROM, containing the mod release of Counter-Strike Retail 1.4 and the Vampire Slayer mod for Half-Life.

LEVEL CD-ROM Romania 7/2002 – A demo disc bundled with the July 2002 issue of LEVEL CD-ROM, containing the mod release of Counter-Strike Retail 1.5 and the Wasteland mod for Half-Life.

PC Gamer CD 7.17 – A demo disc bundled with the July 2002 issue of PC Gamer, containing Peaces Like US V1 & Half-Quake for Half-Life.

I’ve excluded the following demo discs, because these only included either the patches for the original WON version of Half-Life and it’s expansions, and either the Uplink, Opposing Force or Gunman Chronicles demos.

Computer Buyer Issue #99 CD-ROM – Disc two out of two demo discs that was bundlled with the August 1999 issue of Computer Buyer.

PC Gamer UK Issue 78 January 2000 – Disc two out of two demo discs bundled with the January 2000 issue of the UK version of PC Gamer.

FluoROM #7 Eigen PC Nr. 47 – A demo disc bundled with the January 2000 issue of FluoROM.

PC Zone Issue #85 CD – A demo disc bundled with the January 2000 issue of PC Zone.

PC Zone Issue #89 CD – A demo disc bundled with the May 2000 issue of PC Zone.

Komputer Świat GRY 10-11/2000 – A demo disc bundled with the October 2000 issue of Komputer Świat Gry.

PC Game Guide – DEMOS Preview Guide 2001 – A demo disc bundled with the 2001 PC Game Guide or something like that.

New Zealand PC World Cover CD March 2001 – A demo disc bundled with the March 2001 issue of the New Zealand version of PC World.

PC Zone Issue #103 CD 1 – Disc one out of two demo discs bundled with the June 2001 issue of PC Zone.

Click 8/2001 – A demo disc bundled with the August 2001 issue of Click! magazine.

K-CD 2001-12 Ekstra CD – A demo disc bundled with the August 2001 issue of Danish Komputer for alle magazine.

PC Gaming World November 2001 Disk 1 – Disc one out of two demo discs bundled with the November 2001 issue of PC Gaming World.

Giochi Per Il Mio Computer Coverdisc – 2003/04 – A coverdisc bundled with the April 2003 issue of Giochi Per Il Mio Computer, bundled with the full version of the original WON version of Half-Life
