Any characters with the Cyrillic alphabet can make a square or a question appear in the game console or chat window. The problem is that Bitstream Vera Sans and Helvetica have been set as the system’s default fonts. This problem could be solved in two different ways. I hope this will help!

 

First method

The first is to enable file /etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf . Next, create fonts.conf in your fontconfig directory. If the file already exists, add only the alias section.

Eliminate “Helvetica”.

The Cyrillic font should now work.
