This guide will teach you how to easily change the series’ title to Fatal Frame if you prefer it and are bothered by the Project Zero logo as a European.

 

 

Introduction

If the game’s title, Project Zero, bothers you as a gamer from Europe, you can simply change it to Fatal Frame by following the instructions in this guide.

 

I made a similar guide for Maiden in Black Water – [steamcommunity.com] , if you wanna check that out. That one is a bit more complicated. It seems Koei Tecmo changed some file structuring around for the newest game.

For this reason, this guide will be very short, and the only thing I found I could change was the main menu title logo. People who bought the Digital Deluxe Edition will find the Project Zero logo plastered all over the Artbook extra. I haven’t found a method to change those yet. I will over time experiment with the files, and if succeeding, updating this guide.

Method

You will have to navigate to the games folder on your system. Just right-click on the game in your Steam library, and select Manage -> Browse local files

From there double-click on the folders binary -> layout -> ex_texture -> title

Here you simply delete or rename the file R_logo.kslt

Conclusion

I didn’t have much time to thoroughly examine the file format because the game just released today, but it seems chaotic. Other than the final crash, swapping files with some of the other language folders didn’t seem to change much.

The folder organization in Maiden of Black Water was simpler to follow, so I apologize if this guide seems a little disappointing in comparison to my previous one. It is odd, but I’ll keep working on it. The primary menu logo was Project Zero even when I first started the game, but after I finished the prologue chapter, the title card read Fatal Frame. (in a very plain font). The caption couldn’t be changed to the incredible Japanese logo either, but I’ll keep trying.
