You could just link to the data, but I made some observations while doing it. I wanted to share those observations so I created a few sections. This is not a comprehensive guide, but it should be sufficient.

If there are any changes or new discoveries, I will update this guide and the doc.

General info on drivers

(30/08/2022 is the current date. There are currently 90 drivers at the beginning of the game. This includes:

  • The 20 F1 race driver of the 2022 season are, obviously
  • 10 F1 reserve drivers (1 per team)
  • 22 F2 drivers
  • 30 F3 drivers
  • 8 free-agents representing substitute drivers during the F2 and F3 seasons in 2022

Denis Moreau is the fictional F2 driver. He starts the game driving for Carlin in the car that should have been attributed to Lawson. Lawson can't hold both AlphaTauri's reserve driver and F2 driver simultaneously so the devs created this driver to fill that gap. Technically, he is not a newgen. However, he appears in all saves with the same attributes. He does not have a nationality.

The free-agents are drivers who replaced other drivers in F2/F3 up to the Austrian GP. At the time of release, drivers such as Tatiana Calderon (, Oliver Goethe, and Christian Mansell* were not. However, they could be added in a patch. If there are any changes or additions, I will keep the document updated.

* If you were wondering, this is completely unrelated to Nigel

Driver Ratings

Two sheets are available for driver ratings:

  • One sheet that only contains the overall ratings (EVR)
  • This sheet contains all the attributes for each driver as well as other details.

The detailed table shows an OVR value. (, who was also included in Frontier's final driver ratings and attributes for Ferrari Red Bull and Mercedes, quickly realized that the OVR value is not an average of all attributes and that some attributes were heavier than others. The community doesn’t know the definitive answer.
Reddit user The_Jacko found a formula that almost worked – [reddit.com]

I'm using his formula to calculate the "Calc OVR", column. The calculated values that are different from the actual OVR are highlighted. This formula was also used to rank each driver, meaning Hamilton is the best driver at the beginning of the game.

Here's a breakdown on all driver attributes:

Attribute Description
Cornering This is the ability to maintain speed through corners. This allows the driver speed through corners faster, which improves lap times and reduces the risk of them spinning or running wide.
Braking This allows drivers to brake more efficiently. This allows drivers to brake more efficiently when approaching corners, improving lap times and avoiding racing incidents.
Reactions Ability to react quickly to events. This allows the driver accelerate faster in corners and pull away quicker when the lights go off at the start of a race.
Accuracy It is essential to be able to follow the racing line accurately. This reduces the risk of a driver losing their time or causing damage to their car by running wide during racing.
Control This allows you to avoid racing incidents. This decreases the chance of the driver causing lockups, spins or crashes, or running riot.
Smoothness This allows you to reduce tire wear while racing. This allows drivers to push harder and run longer stints with each set of tires.
Adaptability The ability to adapt to adverse weather conditions on track. This increases the driver's acceleration, cornering speed, and braking speed on wetter tracks.
Overtake The ability to pass other drivers. This allows the driver the opportunity to try and complete more overtakes while racing and lowers the risk of them causing an incident.
Defending Ability to defend a position during racing. This decreases the chances of another driver being able to overtake you.

Most attributes are fairly self-explanatory. "Reactions" is the "Thottle", and "Adaptability", the "wet weather" skill.

Both Aggression and Driver potential are shown on the menus with the options to choose from "Low", “Medium” or "High". However, Driver potential is actually (. Aggression) is probably also (. The potential value of each race can be found at the end of the race on the experience screen. I have not yet added the "Low", the "Medium" or "High" values. I may add them if I find a convenient way to locate them, or if they are available.

Note that the F2/F3/free agent drivers' attribute ratings may not be accurate at this point. They are based on scouting done 10 day after the start of each game. Drivers can gain one or two points during that time period. I could sign some of them to see their stats on Day 1, (, I just need time). The other will not be possible for reasons that I will explain on Driver contracts section. I won't have access to the game's data yet.

Driver contracts

The "Driver contracts", which shows you the contract situation for every F1 driver at start of the race, is called the "Driver contracts".

Update 01/09/2022: I was able to access all contract data for all drivers in the game. Contrary to what I wrote in the first version, some F2 drivers have multi-year contracts, the end of contract, salaries of all F2/F3 driver and race engineer have been included in the document, as well as an estimate of the cost of breaking/buying their contract.

Driver position

This is the position of your driver within your team. From what I can see, there is no difference between Car 1 & Car 2. If Hamilton or Verstappen are in your team and the driver you're looking to replace them is driving Car 2, they won't mind.

Please note that if your reserve driver is promoted, it will always be at their expense. The replaced driver will be fired and not delegated to reserve.

Eligible drivers

F1 is not open to all drivers. You can only sign up for F1 at the beginning of the game. In real life, there's the superlicence. This can be obtained by meeting a few requirements. These include a minimum of 3 years of good results to earn enough points. However, the system in-game is simpler and there's no points system because F2 and F3 were not integrated into the game.

To be eligible to sign for your (team, a driver must meet two conditions. This includes race and reserve drivers and race and.

  • You must be 18 years old or older
  • Two seasons of F3 or F2 racing

You cannot offer a contract to a young driver if you don't have the right reasons.

F2 and F3 drivers are not eligible for F1 racing at the start. You'll need to wait 2023 or 2024 to sign them up to your team.

Fun fact: Federico Malvestiti is the worst F3 driver you can sign at start of game. He is rated 32 OVR.

Breaking contracts and buying out fees

You must pay (, if applicable,), and a buyout fee when you sign a driver contract. This is simply the cost to break the contract of your driver.

If you want to replace Bottas with Perez in a game at Alfa Romeo, you will need to first break Bottas' contract ($16.9M. You can also buy Perez's current contract at Red Bull ($19.8M. Double ouch). As you can see, this can quickly add up if both drivers you are replacing and the replacement driver have long contracts.

The cost of breaking a driver's contract is roughly as follows:

(days remaining) x ((yearly salary / 365) / 2)

Although the formula above doesn't give you an exact amount (, it is only a few dollars off. You can also see the exact amount for your drivers on your contract menu any time), but it gives you an idea.

It means that it costs half of the annual salary for each year of the contract. However, the cost is recalculated every other day, meaning that the contract will be broken less often.

The game starts on March 7th, and contracts run until December 31st (, 2022, or later). This means that it costs approximately the following to break a contract the first day of save:

Contract ending Breaking costs

Contract on March 7th

(% of the annual salary)
31/12/2022 41%
31/12/2023 91%
31/12/2024 141%
31/12/2025 191%
31/12/2026 241%

You can save approximately 1% if you wait until March 17th (, 10 days after the game begins.

General info on key staff

Each team has four key staff members:

  • A Technical Chief ()
  • A Head of Aerodynamics () HOA
  • Two Race Engineers (), one each for each driver

The OVR is the average value for all key staff. I have scouted F2/F3/free agents staff. I am less concerned about them getting points during the 10 days they are required to scout them. They gain experience at a slower rate than drivers.

Experience is 100 XP per Week plus your bonuses (Team Hub.

The RE roster contains 72 RE total: 20 in F1, 22 F2 and 30 F3 (1. Each car is basically).

TC and HOA each have 22 players on their rosters at the beginning of the game.

  • 10 in F1
  • 6 free-agents, which are the same in every save
  • 6 newgens-free-agents

The six fixed-free-agents TC include Ti Chuong and Ji Ning, Nisha Khan and Ji Ning.

The six fixed HOA agents are: Saleem indongo, Sharifa Lombo, Roberta Pellegrini and Nicolas Petit. Masao Endo and Christopher Bousher are the other free-agents

McLaren seems to have fictitious names for their staff, as pointed out by some players. Will Joseph and Tom Stallard, for example, are note McLaren REs. We can assume that there were licensing issues and that it won’t be fixed.

F1 key staff generally perform better than their F2/F3 counterparts or free-agents counterparts. There are a few exceptions to this rule.

  • Many F1 TC have a lower OVR then some of the free agents. Ti Chuong has a higher OVR than 6 F1 TC. It might be worth looking at the newgens, especially if you're playing Alfa Romeo or AlphaTauri, or Aston Martin.
  • Aston Martin seems to have a really poor HOA and TC, I think it is important to replace them if you are playing them. They have really good RE though.

Race Engineer Ratings

These are the Race Engineer attributes.

Attribute Description
Pit crew management Communication skills that enable you to communicate effectively with the pit crew and prepare them for a race. A higher rating will result in faster pit stops for the race engineer and his paired driver.
Communication Communication skills that allow you to communicate clearly and effectively. A higher rating indicates a faster affinity growth between the race engineer (and their paired driver).
Feedback Ability to provide and understand feedback during practice sessions on the car's setup. A higher rating will give you quicker feedback about how to improve the car's setup during practice.

Each RE has a driver affinity attribute that is based on how much time they have spent with the paired driver (over weeks), and his communication skills. The drivers who have just joined their team (at the beginning of the game are shown below. Bottas, Albon) are paired with their RE for 0 weeks. Those who have spent more than one season with their team have 52 weeks. Those who have a good affinity have a good affinity. Those who have been with their team for two or more seasons have a great affinity.

Ratings for Technical Chiefs

Technical Chiefs ratings are fairly straightforward. Each attribute corresponds to a part of a car, so the better the rating, the better the Technical Chiefs are at developing the appropriate car part.

  • Chassis
  • Front Wing
  • Rear Wing
  • Sidepods
  • Belowfloor
  • Suspensions

Ratings for Head of Aerodynamics

Similar to Technical Chiefs, not much to add. Head of Aerodynamics has an impact on car attributes. The difference is that each car attribute is affected by different car parts.

  • Cooling: Brake Cooling (Front Wing, Suspensions and Brake) and (Engine Cooling (Chassis & Sidepods)
  • DRS Delta () Rear Wing
  • High Speed Downforce Front Wing, Rear Wing and Underfloor Suspensions)
  • Medium Speed Downforce Front Wing, Rear Wing and Underfloor, Suspensions)
  • Low Speed Downforce Front Wing, Rear Wing and Underfloor, Suspensions)
  • Drag Reduction (Chassis and Rear Wing, Sidepods and Undefloor,) Suspensions,)
  • Airflow Management: (Front Wing, Sidepods, Suspensions and Sidepods) and (Middle (Chassis with Sidepods and)
  • Airflow Sensitivity Front Wing, Rearwing and Underfloor (

Key Staff Contracts

All Key Staff Contracts have only two attributes: The length and the yearly salary. You don't need any bonuses.

Similar to drivers, the cost of breaking a contract is half the annual salary per year remaining. Please refer to the Driver Contracts section to get more information.
