Escape Simulator - Blackwinter Tales: Orbital Full Walkthrough - Overview - 3B435CF

Welcome to the Blackwinter Tales: Orbital walkthrough and guide.

This guide is divided into two sections: a hint section, where you can find a tip to help your progress, and a complete walkthrough that explains the solutions.

You must first navigate the H.M.S. to complete this Escape Room. You will need to be quick to understand the situation and then take your final action on bridge to complete the scenario.

This room is full of mystery and puzzles. Make sure to read all logs and other material carefully so you can unravel what happened in your role as investigator.

Have fun and good luck!

Shuttlebay: Hint Guide

This section will provide you with hints and tips on how to manage each step without causing too much confusion. For those who are really stuck, the walkthrough section is the best place to look for answers.

Shuttlebay

It's time to get your investigation underway! Grab the tablet and read it. Now, you can start your investigation!

Hint Guide: Command Deck

What did the tablet that explained your mission tell you about who to contact first?

It's worth looking around to see if you can find a way to access the deck ….perhaps a map of your deck would help you to determine what's online and which isn't.

Hint Guide: Medi-Bay

Take a look at the medi-bay to see if you can find any details about what happened onboard over the past few days.

The medicine cabinet is interesting and might be useful in the future.

You can check out the Chief Medical Officer's Office to see if you can crack her password. What could be the clue?

Once you're inside, read the thoughts of the CMO and return to the Command Deck.

Hint Guide: Command Deck (Second Visit)

Now you have two codes for some quarters. If you aren't sure where to look, check the map again.

Callaghan's Quarters

Callaghan's computer clue should be located here (. If you aren't sure, use the screen hint).

Callaghan wanted to talk to another crew member about concerns she had…take a note on the tablet to guide you to the next quarters.

Simms' Quarters

It appears that CMO Simms had locked the lift shafts out of Science Labs. These shafts should be possible to be reactivated here.

You can also check the rest of your room to see if Simms has any items that might be helpful.

Bateman's Quarters

Take a good, long look around. For some clues, look high and low as well as at the computer terminal. This shouldn't be too difficult if you are familiar with the way the crew left clues of their passwords.

It looks like there might be something interesting in the briefing area that you might want to look at. You can't go in yet. You can now go to Simms' quarters and unlock the deck.

Hint Guide: Science II

Welcome to the Science Labs. Although Science II appears to be the only accessible option, take a look around.

The Compound Actuator

Although the Compound Actuator may look confusing, you can identify two canisters to be inserted – one red and one one– which can be used for activating the unit.

You can see some canisters nearby. Where have you seen similar codes in the past?

Once you have determined which canisters are needed, now you just need to locate them. If they aren't all there, where can they be stored?

Once you have them, insert them into the canisters to see what they produce. A reference manual might be helpful if you are not a scientist from 23rd century. This sounds like something a doctor might have…

You've now identified the compounds. I wonder who would make such a compound …. and why ….

Environmental Test Lab

Here scientists test a variety of dispensable chemicals to see if they affect different flora. It looks like they have found something of interest by looking at the screen. You could replicate their experiment to see what happens.

You'll need to first find the right mix of chemicals. Lt. Lux has given you an indication of where to look.

Command Deck (3rd time)

It is important to remember the location of the crew quarters by now so that you can get the code you need. Take a look around and see if there is anything that can help you determine the chemical mix. However, you won't be capable of accessing the computer yet. You will need more information to see what Lt. Liu is writing about.

Environmental Test Lab (second)

Choose the appropriate mixture of the chemicals and place them in the test environment. Miraculous! Miraculous!

Fourth time Command Deck ()

Return to the crew quarters to hear what Liu has got to say.

If you haven’t already, activate the lift shaft that will take your down to the cargo bays. You can only go there at the moment so make sure you head down there.

Hint Guide: Cargo Bays & Engineering

Take a look at the new deck that is now available.

Check the cargo bay for any useful items once you're inside. Liu mentioned some equipment that may be useful for you to get into the Captain's quarters. Don't leave home without it!

It appears that the engineering crew was working on anti-grav storage units. This is rather unhelpful. They were kind enough to give some clues as to which storage crates will unlock them, though.

Take a look at the screen and try to figure out what is 'lighter than the air' or 'totally unbelievable'. You will need to figure out which box belongs where because the database has been corrupted.

After activating the unit, you should now be able to retrieve any items that were lost behind them.

The tablet on the ground gave one more piece of information: the code to Deck 2's door. It sounds like something worth looking into…

Engineering Gangway (via Medi-Bay Deck 2

Take a look at the storage crates while you're there to see if you can find anything that you can use elsewhere.

Check the status screen as you enter the main engineering section. It appears that the extensive damage has rendered the engineering database unavailable.

You can retrieve it by going into the small hole and seeing if it works.

You will need to reroute conduits in order to make sure all four couples for the engineering database are active at once. It is impossible for them to all be active on one board. Therefore, you will need to make sure they are all active across both boards.

Once it's back online you can take a look at the status log to see what the crew members have been up to over the past few days. It looks like you can now access the Mess Hall

Hint Guide: Command Deck (fifth))

Mess Hall

There are a few things you can do now that you have access to the Mess Hall. Take a look around the kitchen to see if you can find anything that might help you. A malfunctioning waste disposal unit might have meant that someone was unable to properly dispose of evidence.

Think back to the logs you've previously read. Did someone suggest that you'shuttle up shop'? What could that possibly mean? Take a look in your kitchen to see if you can find another clue.

Once you have the hint, you can use the isolator you got in Engineering. The crowbar will be removed from your inventory after you use it. Can you find something to lighten your path now that everything is dark?

Briefing Room

If you are following Elena's trail, then you will be looking for the place where she stored her personnel files. The room has a sealed conduit that looks promising but there is no code. The tablet on the table will provide a clue.

This diagram, which was drawn in a hurry, doesn't look anything like what we have seen so far. Captain Ascott's quarters remain untouched. Did you find the tool Liu mentioned from the Cargo Bays, or are they still intact?

Captain's Quarters

Ah, the executive toy on top of the chest of drawers is a familiar sight. You can see what happens when the balls are placed in the ballrun according to the diagram. This gives you an idea of how to code.

You will need to have more information and some maths in order to get into the computer to check out the personnel files. We'll get back to that in a moment.

Oh and don't forget to look for anything suspicious….particularly if it's incongruous for someone who doesn't need a haircut!

Briefing Room (, second time)

You can now access the service conduit, but Elena has changed her mind! You'll need to go back into Captain's computer to view the personnel files. Is there anything you can do to help?

Although the personnel logs can be omitted, you should take a look at them to confirm your suspicions regarding the source of the foul play on the Alacrity.

You only need to get on the Bridge. Take a closer look at that holodisplay at the center of the table. Spin it through a few cycles to see if you can figure out what Elena meant by her note.

Hint Guide: Bridge

This is it! Now you can get on the Bridge. You need to decide what course of action you want.

Take a look around. The AI Command software has already recommended a few courses of action that you can take. Take a look at all the information you have learned on board and make your decision.

There are three possible endings depending on which option you choose. Good luck, Commander!

Shuttlebay Walkthrough

Take the tablet off the ground and inspect it. To switch screens, you can click on the different categories of the tablet. To wake the tablet up again, click the middle of the tablet and click on 'power off'

To leave the deck, walk to the end of the corridor. Click the service hatch at the end.

Walkthrough: Command Deck

CMO Simms should be contacted in the Medi-Bay, Deck 2. You'll need the codes to unlock all the doors, except the Express Lift. You can take it down to Deck 2, and you will be able to enter the Medi-Bay.

Walkthrough: Medi-Bay

Note the screens in front of the beds. Marquis died recently from critical hypertension and Callaghan is still missing. Suspicious…

Multiple canisters of different chemicals are housed in the medical cabinet, along with their respective reference codes. These canisters will be returned to you later.

Click the screen in the CMO's office and select "Override Reminder" to get a hint about her password. Head over to the photoframe at the desk and click out. Zoom in and click through all the photos to find the last picture, which is the dog named 'Petra'. This is your password to the terminal. To unlock the terminal, type PETRA on your keyboard.

This will give you two codes: Simms' quarters (9724) and Callaghan's quarters, (2257.

Walkthrough: Command Deck (second))

Go back up to Deck 1 or the Executive Quarters.

Callaghan's Quarters

Use 2257 to enter Ensign Callaghan's quarters.

To see a handwritten code for Bateman’s quarters (56161, check the tablet on the mattress –

Examining the terminal's override reminder, you will see that it says "best in class". The trophy on the shelf contains the password: 2236. This code will unlock the terminal.

Leah Callaghan's letter addressed to her parents indicates that she loves purple and had had a locket given to her as a present. She also mentions a suspicious code she discovered in the navigational files, and wants to talk to Commander Bateman about it. Next, head to Simms' quarters.

Simms' Quarters

Use 9724 to get to CMO Simms' quarters. Reactivate the lift shaft for the Science lab by checking the monitor.

To find the Pharmacopoeia, check the bottom draw of your bed. The database mentions Tetramitrogen Hydroxycylin, a chemical that can cause critical hypertension if ingested or injected.

Continue on the corridor to Bateman’s quarters.

Bateman's Quarters

Two chemical codes can be found on the floor near the bed: A32 & D49.

You can access the terminal by using the password "Mars" (Mars Raceway, from the poster)). Marquis replied to the Captain in an email explaining that she received a strange order to send him a copy (of personnel files that detail the skills of) crew members. She also said that she kept a copy in the Briefing Room just in case.

Once you have unlocked Science Lab, you can head there via the Express Lift located near the Bridge.

You'll see a bloodstain on the trophy that hangs above the bed.

Science II: Walkthrough

The Compound Actuator

You can pick up chemical D49 from the side. To get A32 from the cabinet, you will need to return to the Medi-Bay. If you have the required command clearance, placing both compounds in the Actuator will make Tetramitrogen Hydrooxycylin. Security Level 3 or higher required…

Environmental Test Lab

To find Liu's quarters code (1532, check the monitor -.

To see Lux and Liu's discoveries, you will need to know the ratio of Sodium Hydroxide to Zirconium. This mix can be found in Liu's quarters at Deck 1…

Command Deck (third time))

Use the code 1532 to get to Liu's quarters. To determine which chemical is in which direction, check the note on the monitor. Next, check the game near your door to determine which values you should assign.

The mixture is 4 Sodium Hydroxide and 2 Zirconium in the form of 5 Hassium (4 to2:5 -.

To access the computer, you will need the Profile ID obtained from the Environmental Test Lab.

Environmental Test Lab (second))

The fourth button on top row (Sodium Hydroxide), and the second on middle row (Zirconium) are the ones to choose. The fifth button on bottom row (Hassium) is the last. Click the 'Dispense" button to watch the plants grow. This is the secret to terraforming – how to instantly make plants grow quickly!

The Profile ID displayed on the display is the password for Liu's computer.

Fourth time Command Deck ()

To unlock the terminal, go to Liu's computer.

Liu reports that Elena Marquis tried to explain to him something about someone onboard not being who they claim to be. Also, a hint that the code for the Briefing Room is hidden within the Mess Hall. They also discuss Captain Ascott's interest in hydroponics more than usual, which confirms that only Simms and Ascott knew about it. He mentions that the Captain requested a strange order (of shampoo bottles, which is unusual because he is bald). The Captain's Quarters door is faulty; the manual release device is in the Cargo Bays.

Reactivate the lift to Cargo Bays by looking at the monitor and then head down.

Walkthrough: Cargo Bays & Engineering

Cargo Bay A is not accessible, so make your way to Cargo BayB.

The room is located to the left by a red crate. Inside is the manual release for Captain's quarters, which Liu mentioned in his log.

A tablet explaining the incident is found on the floor near the anti-grav unit. Callaghan was doing maintenance when he dropped the electrical panel bar for the Mess Hall. Two crates are required to activate the anti-grav unit. The tablet states that the alpha crate is 'lighter than the air' while the beta one is "totally unreal". She also explains that the Engineering Gangway code, which can be accessed via the Medi Bay, has been changed to 5525.

A cargo inventory with corrupted information is displayed on the wall monitor. The Helium Isotopes box 09PN8-7 is referred to as 'lighter than air'. The Holographic Environment Kit (box that weighs 49kg)) is referred to as 'totally unrealistic'. Place the boxes in the appropriate slots.

Once both boxes are in the correct slots, push the button to their right. If the boxes have been correctly inserted, the boxes should slide up and reveal a crowbar on top. It is now yours to take and you can head up to Engineering section via Medi-Bay on Deck 2.

Engineering Gangway (via Medi-Bay Deck 2

Open the red crate in the first room to find the Mess Hall Emergency Lighting isolator.

Check the monitor in the main engineering room to see if the Engineering Database is offline.

You'll find two conduit panels in the Emergency Power cubbyhole. They have number and letter references around them. There is also a clue on the wall.

You must ensure that all routes between the four combinations of letters and numbers are in place simultaneously in order to bring the Engineering Database back online. This will require two routes on each board using the following configuration:

Escape Simulator - Blackwinter Tales: Orbital Full Walkthrough - Walkthrough: Cargo Bays & Engineering - 3D743C8

(A to F and 2 – D on the left handboard, then 1 – B and 3 – E on) on the right handboard.

If you do this correctly, you will hear a "beep" and the monitor back at the gangway will be active.

The screen will show that the Mess Hall code is now 7531. You'll also notice that Bateman re-aligned the communications recently, and Ascott changed code to the Armoury. This code is restricted to a Level 4. Head to the Mess Hall on Command Deck.

Walkthrough: Command Deck Fifth Time (

Mess Hall

Take a look at the waste disposal unit in the kitchen. The purple locket, a skull with a bloodmark, and an impact wound that was inside the locket have not dematerialized properly. This seems to be the fate of Ensign Leah Callaghan, who is now missing.

Pull the shutters down by pressing the button on the pillar behind you. There will be a sign stating "Lights Out" on the shutters.

Turn around to the electrical panel, and use the crowbar there – the crowbar won't disappear from your inventory if you use it!

The panel will turn off when the isolator chip is in place. Go back to the kitchen and inspect the backs of your shutters. A code 2093 has appeared.

To restore lighting, remove the panel's isolator and go to the Briefing Room.

Briefing Room

Elena Marquis claimed that she kept a copy of the personnel files in her Briefing Room. To find out where it is, check the sealed conduit at its back.

The tablet on the desk provides a clue as to the location of the conduit code. Head to the Captain’s Quarters.

Captain's Quarters

You can use the manual release that you received from the cargo bays at the door. It will disappear from your inventory once it is used.

Enter the Captain's quarters, and then look at the executive tool on the chest. The correct marble must be placed in the slots at the top of your toy with the correct symbol. If you place the right ones, they will fall down and reveal a code for the conduit door.

  • Place the diamond marble in the leftmost slot. It will roll down and drop into the fourth slot, revealing the number 3 (diamonds).
  • Place the omega marble in the second slots. It will roll into the third slot and reveal the number 5.
  • Place the pound sterling marble in third slot, and the number 7 will be in the first.
  • Finally, place the sigma marble into the fourth slot. This will reveal the number 1.

The code 7153 is the order in which the numbers landed in the slots.

Press the shampoo bottle and go to the bathroom. The mirror will slide aside and reveal a Captain's note stating that there is a spy aboard with secret information. It is either Callaghan, Bateman, who are both missing. It also states that the rest of crew have been evacuated to the remaining escape pods. Captain Ascott's final instruction is to destroy escape pod 198A, if it is still within range.

Briefing Room (, second time)

Enter the code 7153 in the digilock box by the service conduit.

Elena has destroyed the original personnel file copy; the Captain's copy is now on Elena's computer. She also revealed that she had changed the Bridge access code in Captain's orders but stored it where "all the world can view".

The button located next to the holodisplay in the middle room will change the globe image to show 42. The button will change to 08 by pressing the button again. The code for the Bridge is found by adding the two numbers 4208>.

You'll need to check the wall monitors for the core temperature and pressure values, which you can then enter into the Captain's computer.

Captain's Quarters

These are the maths you will need:

Pressure = 3.6

Core Temperature = 5125

Pressure x 10 = 36

Core Temp + (Pressurex10 – = 5125 +36 = 5161

To access the personnel files, enter 5161 into the keyboard. Bateman is a specialist in toxicology. This, along with the chemical references in his quarters and the requirement for the Compound Actuator to be approved by someone Level 3 or higher, suggests that Commander Bateman made Tetramitrogen Hydroxycylin. He then gave it to Elena Marquis. She died from critical hypertension a few months later.

Now that you are aware of the identity of the enemy agent/murderer, you can head to the Bridge to complete your final action ….

Bridge Walkthrough

NOTE: The three endings of the walkthrough are explained at bottom.

**SPOILER WARNING IS IN EFFECT**

To get on the Bridge, use the code 4208

There is not much else to do except to look out the window and decide your next and final move.

You will find a variety of actions that the computer suggests for you by moving to the AI Command console located to the right of your room.

Select your choice and watch your ending

You can choose from any of the available courses – either a pursuit course for escape pods, or returning to Earth.

You accelerate forwards as the engines engage. The navigational virus Bateman had installed in the system kicks into action and you begin to hurtle towards the Sun. The story shows you at your parents' home, where a Death in service' notification is placed on the side table as a memorial to your actions. You would have listened to Captain's advice to not engage the engines.

The news bulletin displayed on the wall monitor reveals the Onyx Syndicate used the terraforming technology in order to establish a colony of Mars. Bateman, who was successful in his mission of infiltrating the Alacrity to steal secrets from HM Space Command's, would be honored as a hero by his masters.

To finish the game, walk through the door.

Targeting Escape Pods 157B and 187G

The computer fires up both the cannons, and blasts the escape pods to smithereens.

You return to Earth for the memorial service for the crewman that you have killed in cold blood. Eight members of the Alacrity team died at your hands. Now you must face the consequences.

The tablet to your left reveals your fate – you will face Court Martial for what you did and will likely leave HM Space Command with a bad reputation.

The wall's news bulletin shows that Bateman was able to keep the secrets secret and gave the terraforming technology back to his masters at the Onyx Syndicate.

Your mission was a complete failure. To finish the game, you will need to leave the room through the back door.

Targeting Escape Pod 198A

The computer lights up the cannons, and fires upon Bateman’s escape pod. This kills him and stops the Onyx Syndicate from terraforming their secrets.

You were finally rescued and returned home to a warm welcome. The Venetian Star of Valour was awarded to you by HM Space Command and you are now being commended. Look at the tablet on your left and then go to the front of the room to celebrate the honor you deserve.

To end the game, exit the room by going through the back door.
