This fixes the issue of not being able to turn the map with the right stick and removes the mouse cursor from appearing in the center of the screen, when operating different menus with a controller.

To do this for DOOM as a game specific thing do the following:

1. Open the properties tab on either the DOOM game page in your library by clicking the cogwheel and selecting properties, or by right-clicking on DOOM and selecting properties.

2. On the properties page select controller and under “OVERRIDE FOR DOOM” select “Disable Steam Input”.

That’s it! Now your controller should work as intended.

NOTE: Disabling Steam input support for DOOM requires you to use a Xinput controller such as the XBOX Wireless Controller. If you are using a PlayStation controller (DualShock 3 or DualShock 4) you have to run a program called DS4Windows – [github.com]  to make your PlayStation controller appear as a Xinput controller in Windows. You can find plenty of tutorials on how to set up DS4Windows all over the internet. I am not sure if Steam controllers encounter this issue but since it is a Xinput controller this fix will work if needed.
