Intro
Some people think that this game’s platforming is detrimental and would rather have the more (like, MUCH more) boring option of hallway-arena-hallway-arena-hallway-arena (Which totally wouldn’t be bad just for framing or having interesting locations.), this guide is made to help those people deal with the platforming.
You can’t ignore it.
Some parts of this game require platforming; the platforming CAN be mitigated or done faster if you can think outside the box and know where to jump; in this guide, I can show you how to make platforming A BREEZE.
Make sure you have basic motor functions.
When they are first born, most people take up to 6 months for their brain to get accustomed to and use to their body, slowly learning motor functions over time. Still, apparently many people struggle with platforming in this game, which may be one of the easiest things you can do in a first-person game. The reduced motor function may occur because of Myopathy, a disease in which muscle fibers do not work correctly, Neuromuscular Junction, also known as a Myoneural Junction, the name of a chemical synapse between a motor neuron and muscle fiber, Nerve damage, Spinal Cord Injury, or brain damage. If you think you have any of the previously listed diseases or injuries, please seek a medical professional; however, you may continue reading if you do not.
Doing the platforming
Doing platforming in DOOM Eternal can be very easy! You have to have common sense, is all.
Step 1. Jump on the platform
Let’s say I want to get to that platform over there, and if I do, all I have to do is jump on it, easy as that.
Sometimes you can COMBINE your double jump and dashes to get to further places.
When the distance between you and the platform is extra-long, there will usually be a dash recharge between you and it. Usually not required but can be helpful to new players.
Getting around obstacles
Oh no! You’ve messed up a jump! (You must have tried really hard to do that.) oh no, here comes a SPINNING FIRE LINE that is very slow and easy to time your movement around and gets past! Here it comes! Nooo! You’ve got hit and lost a significant–
9 health….? To be honest, all of the platforming obstacles in this game that aren’t bottomless pits can be safely ignored. It’s not just this example; I’ve ignored all the obstacles on multiple (most) of my playthroughs, and the worst I’ve experienced was being tickled. You can safely ignore the obstacles.
Monkey bars and climbing sections.
Sometimes you have to swing on monkey bars, and people complain about it.
Uh, you run into it mid-air, and doomguy uses it. If I’m going too fast, you can always re-read portions of this guide.
Sometimes you have to climb, and people complain about it.
Uh, you dash into OR press E while looking at when you are close to the climbable surface (climbable surfaces usually looks grid-ish, and always contrast against the environment for conveyance) mid-air and doomguy will start to climb it, use WASD to move around on it, turn around, doomguy will hold out his hand, and this means you can press space to jump off. If I’m going too fast, you can always re-read portions of this guide.
Example of good platforming.

Also, here is some proof this guide works just as well for the DLC levels as the vanilla ones.

Check out my other guide, which talks about the POORLY DESIGNED and UNFUN limited ammo this game gives you and how to SURPASS IT.
So, was I, like, the only person to grow up with Metroid Prime? The platforming in this game never surpasses the difficulty of the platforming in the Frigate Orpheon.
