Wondering how you can actually help other users when you place/use climbing anchors? Read this passive aggressive guide to tell you how to use them properly and to be nice when using them, so others can actually get around too.

Place/Find a rope

Pretty self explanatory. Sort of. Sometimes you may not see a rope, because some A-Hole decided to place it, or use it and keep the rope all bundled up at the top, where only ONE side can use it.

Grab the rope

Assuming that the rope is in a place where you can grab it, likely at the top of a position after a long, painful trek because someone failed to understand or care how to use a rope properly, you then grab the rope.DEATH STRANDING - How to be a courteous climbing anchor user.

Orient yourself/the rope

Now that you have grabbed the rope, move yourself so you are facing away from the ledge if you’re at the top. If at the bottom of the ledge, you face it, clearly, as you are trying to climb up it.

Now just release/throw the rope

Now that you have grabbed the rope and are oriented in the proper direction, throw/release the rope. This will fling it down the ledge, as shown in the following picture. You can grab the rope from the top and redo this if it doesn’t land where you/others want and can use it.DEATH STRANDING - How to be a courteous climbing anchor user.

PROFIT!

Now that you have (hopefully) followed this guide, or just used your brain and decency for once, others, AND you, can now use the rope to get both up AND down an obstacle. Amazing how that works! Right? Actually being helpful?
As this picture shows, the weighted end of the rope will be at the bottom, so people there can grab it and climb up. And people at the top can grab at the top and climb down. Everyone wins, and it only takes literally 2 seconds, or even less, to do this for everyone.DEATH STRANDING - How to be a courteous climbing anchor user.

Is this guide being serious? Absolutely.

Almost every single rope I am finding ingame with the servers/people it joins me up with, fail to throw the dang ropes down so others can use them. So yes, this is absolutely serious. Mostly venting, because people tend to not change and likely won’t read and throw the ropes anyway. But at least I tried.
