This guide was written to help people to decide what weapons to waste their shards on and which weapons they better avoid. It states every secondary weapon in the game with their short summary and tactics of usage.

Preface

Hello, aspiring new player or a hard-boiled veteran! This is the first part of my guide on all weapons in the game which will tell you a little bit about each: how they perform and what tactics and attachments should you use to make the weapon effective (if it is possible to use the weapon at all, looking at you Five-seveN). This part is about secondary weapons. I’ll try to keep it as short as possible, but it will likely still be a long read, so buckle up and let’s start!

Range Measurements

Just a bit of clarification on which range is which before we start, as it might be a bit confusing for newer players, we will be using Riverside for scale here.
Close Range

Medium Range
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Medium-Long Range
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Long Range is all engagements farther than Medium-Long, and when I say “right in the face” I mean that it is Extremely Close Range
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

Pre-Prestige Pistols

Pistols are not the most combat-effective secondary in the world, but they are always there when you need them: predictable and with a steady damage output.
M9
0 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
This weapon is, unfortunately for anyone cosplaying USMC, frankly horrible. It’s only advantage over the G17 is slightly higher damage, which doesnt make that much difference. Not much is expected from a gun given for free. Don’t use it unless absolutely necessary.

G17
1 Shard
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
This pistol is just slightly better than the M9 and can maybe even be used in actual combat, as it’s fire rate and reload speed are unmatched in the class. But I never since the release of the game saw someone seriously use it, you need to click like crazy to use it’s full fire rate, so don’t bother.

USP .45
1 Shard
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
For the same one shard as the almost-useless G17 you’re getting a usable sidearm that will help you finish off a wounded enemy or stand your ground in CQC when out of ammo or at a disadvantage with a sniper rifle. Not the best option, but for one shard? Hell yeah it’s a good option!
Attachments:
Base: Speed/Range (the only options I see here, as all base stats are good and Rapid Fire doesn’t help)
Barrel #1: Accelerator
Barrel #2: Supressor
Accelerator gives you additional range, Suppresor negates recoil penalties of the Accelerator and doesn’t show you on the minimap when shooting.
Ammo: FMJ/HP (taste preference, wanna hit headshots – get HP)

Five-SeveN
2 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
The only thing you need to know is that it kills slower than an M9. Don’t use in a custom loadout ever.

M1911
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Alright, we’re finally in the renowed pistol territory. This gun, being the middle ground between low damage and high damage pistols, is an excellent choice, with it’s unhindering accuracy and recoil as opposed to higher-damage pistols, decent rate of fire and damage, just mind the ammo.
Attachments:
Base: Rapid Fire (finally a pistol that you can click fast enough with RF)
Barrel #1: Compensator
Barrel #2: Silencer/Laser
Compensator gets rid of the recoil – the only downside of RF 1911, with the added bonus of not being shown on the minimap when shooting or extra accuracy and range display.
Ammo: FMJ/HP

Magnum .44
4 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
A legend, now at your service. Better than 1911 in terms of ammo consumption, but you will likely be hitting less shots due to recoil, that can’t be mitigated entirely unless you sacrifice other stats. Good against grouped up enemies, as it’s penetration is at a respectable 4, 5 being needed to open doors.
Attachments:
This weapon is surpsingly versatile, so here are a couple of builds in a compact format:
RF/Comp/Laser/FMJ For pure power and low TTK
Damper/Laser/Comp/FMJ For a controllable, reliable sidearm
Damper/Laser/Accel/HC Less reliability, more range
Damper/Laser/Booster/FMJ Less reliability, can open doors
Range/Comp/Accel/HC Max range, but no range display and less control

Desert Eagle
5 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
.50 AE in semi-automatic, a beastly combination. One-shot headshot with FMJ at close range, firerate that allows for recoil to settle, alright accuracy with standart range, all in your pocket. Only problem is you get it at lvl 45, which is kinda late, but it’s sure worth it. Also can open doors.
Attachments:
Base: Rapid Fire
Barrel #1: Compensator
Barrel #2: Laser
Ammo: FMJ
Deagle is better in CQC, but range build is Deadeye(or Range if you need more range)/Laser/Accelerator/HC, don’t really recommend it unless you use a shotgun, as its range(or accuracy if you get Range) is questionable and recoil is pretty high.

Post-Prestige Pistols

These pistols go in the order of unlocking them, Prestige 1-6.
P320
6 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
USP .45, but better, with ammo a bit changed to match the “higher damage-lower firerate” idea. Better headshot damage multiplier and damage gives it an advantage over USP, allowing you to two-shot headshot enemies at close range with HP, which is a plus for all who can land them.
Attachments:
Base: Rapid Fire
Barrel #1: Compensator
Barrel #2: Laser/Supressor/Accelerator (Suit yourself, there’s no wrong choice here)
Ammo: HP/FMJ (still pretty strong with FMJ, though I highly recommend HP)
Better in CQC so you can utilize the two-shot headshot, but Range and HC can be used to some extent too.

Rhino
7 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
A Handcannon, with a capital letter. This thing with HP will one-shot headshot a Juggernaut perk-weilding player, the only secondary weapon except Launchers that can do that. Other than that it’s similar to Deagle, still having a just-right firerate to come back on target even with it’s tremendous recoil, while a bit less mobile than one.

Attachments:
Base: Rapid Fire
Barrel #1: Compensator
Barrel #2: Laser
Ammo: HP/Piercing/Extended (Piercing will allow to open doors, Extended is just overall useful)
Better in CQC so you can utilize the one-shot headshot, but Range and HC can be used to great extent too.

Detective Special
8 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
A shotgun among pistols, this revolver sports really low range, accuracy, and high recoil, while having incredibly fast TTK. Want to get close and personal? Then this might be a gun for you! Be aware that it has the same ammo reserve as the .44, but higher firerate, so you waste ammo in a flash.
Attachments:
Base: Damper/Rapid Fire (use RF only if you will shoot the enemy right in the face)
Barrel #1: Compensator
Barrel #2: Laser/Accelerator (use Accelerator only with Damper, and note that you will likely not hit anything on that range, there for better maximal damage range)
Ammo: FMJ

Luger
9 shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
This pistol, IMO, is not worth the shards, it’s a 1911, but higher TTK – faster ammo consumption, so you will run dry really fast. It is definitely powerful, but we again face the G17 problem – you need to click it really fast with Rapid Fire for it to unleash it’s full TTK. It doesn’t need Rapid Fire to shred though, so I went with this loadout:
Attachments:
Base: Speed/Damper (won’t need Comp or Silencer with Damper)
Barrel #1: Laser/Compensator
Barrel #2: Accelerator/Silencer (taste preference – more maximal damage range with Speed + Comp/no recoil with Speed+Laser and not showing on the minimap)
Ammo: FMJ

MK22
10 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
A straigh-forward pistol with a clear role – to help you reach what you can’t with your main weapon. Basically Five-seveN, but kills a bit faster and has an actual useful advantage – range of 1700 units, same as a standart AR range, and that’s exactly what we will abuse in our build to make it a pocket sniper.
Attachments:
Base: Range
Barrel #1: Accelerator
Barrel #2: Laser
Ammo: High Caliber

Maxim 9
11 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
M9, but less firerate, one less shot to kill in any body part, and an integral supressor. A gun for when you really need a suppresor, but for some reason want to sacrifice your combat abilities for it.
Not worth 11 shards, but if someone wants it for cool points or to meme here’s a build.

Attachments:
Base: Speed/Range
Barrel #1: Accelerator
Barrel #2: Laser
Ammo: FMJ/HP

Pre-Prestige Machine Pistols

More capable than Pistols, almost all guns in this category except the burst ones all have one main problem – ammo withdrawal. Unless you run perks that help you regain ammo they go through all of your reserve really fast, so only use them in a pinch and not as your CQC primary, there’s Overkill for that.

M93R
1 Shard
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
A better weapon to start the class than its semi-auto counterpart, this machine pistol is a versatile option for close to mid range, can be made into what you want it to be, though in CQC it will be less effective than its contenders in the class.

Compact builds time!
Full Auto/Grip/Laser/FMJ For low TTK in CQC
Range/Accel/Laser/HC For medium-long range
Speed/Accel/Laser/FMJ(or HC if intended for more range) A reliable sidearm build

G18
2 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
One of the most-well-known CQC shredders, as it is present in one of the default classes. A beast in CQC, main objective with it is getting close and letting it rip, do not engage anyone farther than close range if stock or CQC modded.

Builds:
RF/Grip/Siliencer(or Laser if you’re confident in your recoil control)/FMJ(or HP/HI if you can either hit heads or get really close) For low TTK, and low TTK only
Speed/Grip/Laser/FMJ)(or HP) In case someone wants to actually hit something

MP9
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Basically G18, but less damage, and a bigger, slower-reloading magazine.
Same builds as the G18, same general usage, but a bit easier to use, 30 rounds do help.

MPA57
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Statistically has the lowest TTK of all non-prestige MPs, higher damage, more accuracy and lower practical recoil than the G18 make it a really effective option.
Same builds as the G18, but due to better accuracy allows for a bit longer-range engagements or better HP usage.

FMG-9
5 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
MP9, but needs one less shot in the head to kill, and a bit more recoil, a bit less accuracy and a bit slower reload. Yeah, MPs are not the most imaginative category.
Builds:
G18 Builds +
Damper/Suppresor/Laser/HP Stability + 4 headshot kills

Post-Prestige Machine Pistols

KARD
6 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
IMO not worth it, the only advantage over the 93R is the bigger mag, which can be useful at times but 3 more bursts for 5 more shards? Ehh…
Builds are the same as the 93R, except in the reliable build replace Laser with Suppresor.

Skorpion
7 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
For all the post-soviet gangsters alike, this weapon offers you the same headshot damage multiplier as burst-fire MPs. In comparison to G18 it takes one less shot to kill in the head and one more shot to kill in the body, so if you can hit heads take this over the G18.
G18 Builds, but I recommend HP to use the headshot mult to full extent.

MAC-11
8 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
MP9, but you pay with accuracy for 2 more rounds in the mag and 6 in reserve and slightly better damage, firerate and recoil. Statistically the lowest TTK MP, along with the Micro Uzi. Also important information: best-sounding MP with RF 🙂
Same builds as the G18

CZ 75
9 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Best compared to the Scorpion, as it’s basically a Scorpion with less ammo, but more damage and a bit less fire rate, thus making it kill faster.
Same builds as with G18, except using Laser instead of Silencer. Use HP for better effect.

VP 70
10 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Compared to the 93R has better damage and accuracy at the price of recoil, also one more burst in the mag and barely slower reload. Same builds as the 93R, except Laser in range and sidearm builds should be replaced with Grip.

Micro Uzi
11 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
Better TTK than G18 if you can hit anything, technically lower recoil but practical recoil is higher, which makes it even more of a right-in-the-face solution than the G18.
Same builds as the G18.

Pre-Prestige Launchers

Launchers is a class which contains all non-equipment explosive weapons, which can be used for a variety of tasks – from anti-air support to mortar-like barraging (thought if you will use this tactic in a game with me I will try my best to strangle you). Of course, they can also be effectively used in
face-to-face combat, so effectively there’s even a perk to counter Launchers and explosive equipment called Specialist. If you see this sign appear over your cursor:
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
…it means that the person that you’re shooting at has explosive resistance, so either shoot them with something else, or, if you don’t have the option to change your weapon, just keep in mind that you’ll need more shots to kill that person.

Also note that all grenade launchers have arming distance, meaning they won’t explode if you hit target to close to yourself. If this target is a person they will die immidiately, but if it’s a wall then it just won’t do anything, and you might be there with an unloaded Thumper with a guy already shooting at you, so be wary of that at all times when using GLs.

Alright, let’s see the actual launchers.

SMAW
0 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

First launcher you get is not capable of face-to-face combat at first, as it is an aircraft lock-on MANPADS, but that can be changed with attachments, and the lock-on is actually pretty useful, just remember that it can lock on through obstacles, so when you press the trigger you will hit the obstacle even though it locked on.

Attachments:
Base: Fire Select (lets you shoot it at anything you want, basically making it an RPG with an added lock-on option)
Barrel #1: Laser
Barrel #2: Empty (Grip doesn’t do anything on one-round launchers)
Ammo: Explosive (a good thing against aircraft, if you will mainly use it against infantry then all ammo options are alright)

Thumper
2 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

Thumper is a one-round grenade launcher capable of one-shotting anyone on direct impact, a good ranged option for CQC primary users. or just a whip-out one-shot gun for anyone who can’t kill you fast with their primary
Not much in terms of tactics for this one, just needs a bit of practice to hit people consistently, you can try it on bots before going into multiplayer.

Attachments
Base: Speed
Barrel #1, #2: Empty (Laser gets in the way of aiming)
Ammo: Taste preference

M203 Stun
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

This weapon is something that you don’t see often, but when you do it’s most annoying. Basically a reusable Stun Grenade, it will make your targets stand almost completely still while you shoot them with your primary. Be wary though, as they are still able to shoot and move a bit, so if their barrel was pointed at you when you shot the grenade the chances are you will still die if you try to approach them.

Attachments:
Base: Speed
Barrel: Empty
Ammo: Radius

RPG-7
4 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

The most popular one-shot rocket launcher in the world, period. Makes a good secondary for anyone who needs range, but can’t have it in the primary slot, as this launcher offers you unlimited range. Can be effectively shot blindly on open maps like Riverside right at the start, or on any map with a long obstacleless space where doors are opened after a few seconds of the round, such as the under-square area on District or the middle corridor of Sandstorm, but you won’t be liked for this tactic as it is, admit it, not the most fair.

Attachments
Base: Range
Barrel: Laser
Ammo: Any

M32 MGL
5 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

A 6-round rotary grenade launcher, this thing is a versatile weapon that can be used both in an offensive and a defensive role.

Mortaring
As both of the AGLs have a mortar-like arch and really good firepower they can be used as improvised mortars to a surpising extent, being basically a handheld airstrike. Even though there’s a weapon for that specific use case: the Javelin, not everyone has access to one and Javelin can’t cover the same area as the AGLs.

If you are not using the MGL as a mortar it’s basically a multi-round Thumper with less damage, but more area-denial capabilities, so use it with this in mind, note that you will be less mobile than with the Thumper.

Attachments
Base: Rapid Fire
Barrel #1: Grip
Barrel #2: Laser
Here the barrel attachments are needed, as RF and the automatic nature of the GL make it innacurate, the attachments are negating that.
Ammo: Any

Post-Prestige Weapons

Javelin
6 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

Another exceptionally annoying piece of weaponry to play against, as this rocket launcher first launches the rocket up, and then it lands to where you aimed at from the air. As not all maps have solid cover from the top, the rocket has stupidly high explosion radius and, of course, one-shots, and the fact that you don’t need to stand anywhere near the fight to deal damage makes it incredibly OP. If you still value your dignity, please refrain from using it until it gets a nerf.

XM25
7 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

MGL but lower TTK, bigger radius and a bit less mobility. On tactics and attachments see MGL.

M202
8 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

An area-denial weapon, similar to use cases of the AGLs, but with benefits and downsides of the RPG, them being the technically unlimited range and inability to use mortaring. Also you are slow as hell when using this, so keep in mind that speed might be a better choice over damage output in some cases.
Builds:
RF/Grip/Laser/Any ammo | For raw damage
Speed/Grip/Laser/Any ammo | For maneuverability

M320 Flashbang
9 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

Same as the M203 Stun, this gun is a reusable Flashbang, you will still be annoying the enemy, but now ,instead of seeing you, but not being able to shoot you, enemies will now not see you, but can still kill you, and will have a higher chance to do so if you approach from the same side as you shot from than with the M203 Stun. Is it worth it? IMO, no, but maybe you need specifically flashbangs, then you don’t have other options.
Same attachments as the M203 Stun.

Stinger
10 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

SMAW, but now your rockets one-shot every aircraft except the Pave Low and the Escort Airdrop, and with Explosive they almost one-shot them, you can after finish them with a burst from an AR.
Is it worth it? IMO, no, as if you have 21 Shards you can just make an AA Barret, but it definitely has applications, so choose yourself.
Same attachments as SMAW.

Tactical Weaponry

Tactical tab is there for all secondaries that don’t fit in other categories, so i’ll just go in detail about each of the 3 existing weapons in that category.

Tazer
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

Another weapon meant to annoy people, but for some reason made to do damage, and not just standart pistol damage. It one-shots to the head with HP, and if you miss the head and hit the body you will always have another shot, as on hit this weapon, unsurpisingly, stuns the target for about 4 seconds.
The only downside it has is the fact that it only has 12 rounds total, but 12 rounds can theoretically be made into 12 kills, so if you can hit heads and want a pocket one-shot pistol with no recoil, that might be a gun for you.

Attachments:
Base: Rapid Fire/Range
Barrel #1: Laser
Barrel #2: Accelerator
Ammo: HP

Riot Shield
3 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3
It blocks all non-exploding projectiles that are thrown or shot at it, but it doesnt cover the legs completely both when you stand or crouch, when you crouch it’s just harder to hit them. Keep in mind that you can’t use equipment while holding a shield and that Specialist does not fully work with it to prevent almost invulnerable shield users from existing.

Tactics with the shield may involve, but are not limited to:

  • If the enemy team is just camping a corridor you get a class with one, raise it and start slowly crouching towards them while your team goes behind and you and jumpshoots them.
  • At times when your health is low raise it to retreat.
  • Use a bait-and-switch method the standard build is made on, where as soon as you see an enemy you get it out, and when he approaches to try to kill you with any of the ways above you get out your primary and start firing, a good weapon for this tactic is obviously a shotgun. Also consider getting the Quickdraw perk, as the switch speed bonus will definitely help.

From the attachments I think the best option is Speed, though you may use a different tactic than the ones above and if it involves killing people with the shield then other attachments might come in handy.

Flamethrower
11 Shards
Deadswitch 3 - Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3

This weapon is unlocked at Prestige 4, and it’s basically a funkier Machine Pistol that kills everything, especially groups of enemies, incredibly fast, and might grant you a kill even after you died, but is a bit dangerous to use as you can easily kill yourself. A bit of practice and you will be umatched in CQC, as long as you have fuel to run the thing.

Attachments
Base: RF/Speed
Barrel #1: Laser
Barrel #2: Grip
Ammo:: Extended

Conclusion

I hope this guide helped you to choose what secondary weapon should you buy or what attachments should you use on the one you already bought.
If you saw a mistake in my writing as English is not my first language, think that something is wrong or want me to add an attachment build or a way to use some weapon, feel free to leave a comment and let me know about it, I will correct the language mistakes and will consider adding what you suggested.
If you liked the guide – leave a like, there ain’t many guides in the workshop, but I still would really appreciate it even though everyone will still see the guide anyway.
The second part will be out some time soon, as soon as I write it I will leave a link here, also a Russian translation might be made as soon as I finish the guide in full, but as it is a ton of work to rewrite everything I might not do it.

I hope you enjoy the Guide we share about Deadswitch 3 – Best Secondary Weapon to Use in Deadswitch 3; if you think we forget to add or we should add more information, please let us know via commenting below! See you soon!
