Every curse in the game has a different name. This guide will show you how to deal with each one.

A brief introduction to curses

You can get curses at certain points in the game, such as at the start of a run or after beating a room.

You will not be able to choose which curse you start with.

Curses can use a variety of types: basic projectiles; homing projectiles; aimable shockwaves; aoe attacks; and multi-directional shockwaves.

Curses can also have a variety additional effects. Some curses can cause enemies to remain in an area for a while, while others may grant temporary invincibility against melee, ranged, or both attacks. These curses can be unlocked by gaining Faith or selecting upgrades from the skill tree by giving Sermons of your Followers. Each upgrade unlocks three new Curses, which are added to the range of abilities that you can choose from at any given point in a run.

Every Curse explained.

Touch Of The Revenant

The spell acts in a straight line directly in front of the Lamb, much like Touch Of Turua. Touch Of The Revenant summons ghosts that will track and attack nearby enemies, but instead of directly damaging them, this spell is not intended to damage them.

These ghosts are identical in appearance to those that were spawned using Necromantic weapons. However, their large numbers make them a serious threat to any foe. You can either clear out small enemies or allow the ghosts to converge on one target for concentrated damage.

Ghosts are limited in their range and won't be capable of catching enemies across the map from their original location. They are also unable to track fast-moving foes so make sure to summon them as close as possible to your target.

Divine Blizzard

Divine Blizzard is a great option when you are faced with large numbers of enemies. It inflicts the Freeze status effect on all enemies within a radius of the Lamb, which slows their movement. It can even push them away from you, giving time to reposition and thin their numbers.

Cult of the Lamb can quickly drain your health, so it is important to have a way out. You can avoid having to start a new crusade by knowing when Divine Blizzard should be used and when it should be deployed.

Hounds Of Fate

Hounds Of Fate can be used to enter a room. It unleashes five magic missiles to target enemies and ensures you get the first strike. It can also be used against bosses to deal damage and keep your distance.

Breakables can stop the missiles from hitting the ceiling. Before you curse the room, make sure it doesn't have too much debris. Hounds Of Fate can be a good way to spend your Fervor, as long as you have clear lines.

Path Of The Righteous

Path Of The Righteous is a way to give your enemies a taste of your own medicine. Path Of The Righteous, like other curses in the game allows you to throw a blob full of ichor at enemies. It deals decent damage and poisons them. Path Of The Righteous leaves a trail ichor on its path, which significantly increases the spread of the poison effect.

Poison damage can often be enough to kill weak opponents and free you to focus on more serious threats. The One Who Waits protects Lamb from the poisonous effects of black ichor so that you can safely walk along your toxic trail. The main feature of this curse is the trail of ichor. Path Of The Righteous can be used to target the largest opponent in the room with a main blob. The ichor will then catch any other opponents as they move about.

Maelstorm

Touch Of Turua can be used for many purposes. However, it is not a great spell that you need to cast once. Maelstrom emits four bursts at once of tentacles at right angles. This gives it the most coverage of any curse. Although it doesn't hit as hard as its more focused cousin, it is the best spell for hitting all enemies on the field.

Maelstrom can be cast orthoqonally or diagonally by holding down the curse button and changing its direction. This gives the spell more versatility and allows you react to moving enemies midcast without losing Fervor.

Divine Guardian

Divine Guardian is the only defensive curse in the game. It works in the same way as other burst spells. It damages and pushes back any enemies that are near the Lamb. It also has two key effects that cannot be duplicated by any other means making it an amazing tool for any loadout.

First, Divine Guardian reflects projectiles caught in its blast. This causes them to damage enemies instead of the Lamb. Many of the game’s bosses use rapid-fire projectiles heavily, so a well-timed Divine Guard can quickly turn the tables.

The second, and perhaps most important, is that the Divine Guardian renders the Lamb invulnerable for a period of two seconds. This gives you enough time to escape or launch an attack without fear of reprisal. It is rare to be able to unleash a melee attack on a boss with Gauntlet weapons without taking any damage back. Divine Guardian allows you to do this, increasing your success rate.

Divine Blight

Divine Blight is a powerful attack. It poisons all enemies within its reach and knocks them back.

It's not the best, but it's good.

Divine Force

Divine Force locks enemies in a position for a brief amount of time, allowing for you to do some additional damage.

Divine Blast

Divine Blast does not have any special effects. It does nothing more than knock down enemies and also cause them harm.

Trail Blazed

Trail Blazed projectiles forward and back from Trail Blazed, causing a lot of damage.

Strike Of The Crown

Shoots a projectile that can be used to attack enemies.

Cleansing Fire

Three projectiles are fired at once, causing burn damage.

Flaming Shot

You can fire a bolt of fire at enemies to hit multiple enemies at once. To make it explosive, you can also hold the mark and release it.

Oath Of The Crown

A devastating melee attack with the possibility to possess impacted foes.

Death's Disregard

A melee attack is great for bosses because it can both deflect projectiles and attack simultaneously.

Death's Attendant

A melee attack that spawns ghosts, but it does less damage.

Deaths Sweep

This is a basic melee attack, but can be charged to do more damage.

Call Of The Crown

A homing attack that hits enemies directly through objects.

Path Of The Righteous

A projectile that leaves a trail of Black Ichor.

Touch Of Ithaqua

An eruption of ice pillars that freezes enemy hit points

Passage Of The Marnier

Spawns four far reaching tentacles all around you

Touch Of Turua

It is basically Maelstorm, but unlike Maelstorm you can only use it once.
