In this guide, you will learn how to design a warm up routine that will make sure you will be at the top of your game when its time to play.

Why Warm Up?

Usually when you just boot up CSGO, you will notice that your aim will be quite off. You’ll be making lots of small mistakes that might not matter in casual modes meaning you wont be paying attention to them. On the contrary, small mistakes can make or break a competitive game. By warming up, you will be fine tuning out these little mistakes and you will start playing at your best ability right away, which can easily win you early rounds. By having a consistent set routine, you will be able to recall your muscle memory much quicker, make sure your familiar with the game and set your mind to focus on the task ahead. The more often you warm up, the more improvement you are going to see in your game. Choosing to practice before each mach will undoubtedly translate into improved aim and movement overall. This is why its important to warm up.

How I warm up

1. I start by using the YPRAC AIM MAP (VERY GOOD MAP, SUBSCRIBE TO IT) to practice flicks in dot mode for around 20-30 mins.
2. I then use that same map to practice recoil control for 10 minutes. (trust me, get that map)
3. I then move on to the aim_botz map, and practice counter strafe headshot’s on moving bots for 20 mins.
4. I finally join a community FFA server and practice killing players as quickly as I can.

After all that, I am well and truly ready to play at my best in competitive.

How can you make your own routine?

Start out by browsing top community maps like the ones I suggested earlier. Explore them a little and favourite maps that you find helpful.

You’ll want to find something for each of these at the least:

Start with a static “flick crosshair to point A and click” to get used to your mouse and making fast precise movements.

Then practice tracking moving target/s in your method, this may mean using bots in DC_AIM, or using the tracking mode in a tool called AIM LAB. (Very Useful)

Practise recoil in a recoil training map, and also practice counter strafing and movement in general. The latter can be done in community KZ servers, which are similiar to bhop server except you complete tricky vanilla movements instead.

Then finally move on to practising against real people. This may mean vanilla death match, community FFA, retakes mode, 1v1’s and so on.

Keep trying out different ways of practising these fundamental things until you find a method that works for you for each section. Finally, stay consistent, and do these things before every game.

To fill in any gaps, go watch some youtube videos, they usually suggest some very good resources and maps to use, but no one method is the be all and end all. The more you discover on your own, the more you will learn about the games mechanics.
