Introduction to Evergreen Lane

An old farmhouse is located along Evergreen Lane, next to Black Ridge Woods. The farmhouse lost its original farm land over the years and has been renovated many times to give it a more modern appearance. The Wentz family moved into the quaint farmhouse to discover strange occurrences within their first year. Tammy Wentz, Tammy's wife and mother, reaches out, Conrad Stevenson to prove or disprove these paranormal occurrences.

Plan Your Investigations

It's funny to go into your first case in an attempt to wake up ghosts. However, it takes some planning to fully investigate this house. Take a look at Tammy's email and note any unusual occurrences. Each ghost haunts a specific area of the house. Once you know where each ghost haunts you will be able to collect all evidence (, including the archive note in that particular area.

Tammy's email mentions the following locations as having paranormal activity.

  • Living area upstairs
  • Garage
  • (Children's Room Upstairs)
  • Kitchen

Paranormal activity will be evident in these areas for your first investigations. Before you start the investigation, make sure you have Tammy's email notes. Do not rush through the house looking for evidence. You must wait patiently in a specific room for the ghost to make noises or manifest before you can move. Once you have found at least one piece audio evidence, the ghost's identity will be added to their audio archives. Once you have a mental map of where each ghost is located, you can then begin deeper investigations.

General Tips for Collecting All Evidence

Before you start an investigation, make sure you have the right notes.

You don't have all of the notes selected if you are having trouble collecting audio evidence or snapping a photo. My experience is that the game progress will prevent you from collecting all audio evidence if not all of the notes have been selected. These notes are from Tammy's email, as well as archive notes that you find during your investigations.

Find All Archive Notes

Three of the four ghosts discovered in Evergreen Lane had an archive note associated with them. You will not be able fully investigate the ghost if you don't collect these archive notes. After your initial investigation, one archive note randomly appears in the house. These notes can be found in rooms or in closets on the floor as small sheets of paper. If you have tried to search the house but failed to find an archive note, stop the investigation and start a fresh one. It is likely that there has not been an archive note in the house. Pay attention to where you hear and see ghosts. Each archive note will be located in the room(or) associated with haunts.

Learn How Ghosts Act

Take a moment and read about the various types of ghosts you will encounter during your investigation. This will allow you to collect EMF, temperatures and EVPs at the right time. This will prevent you from spending your time asking ghosts questions about EVPs that they are unable to answer. For example, the poltergeist emits unusual temperatures before it performs an action and EMF spikes afterward. This means that you'll collect temperatures first, audio/photos second, and EMF when it throws an object. The book also notes that EVP questions are not answered by poltergeist so it would be a waste to try to sit in their room.

Be Patient

You don't have to search the entire house for evidence. Focus on one ghost per investigation, and only wait in the rooms they haunt to trigger audio or manifestations. I have had to wait in a room for a while to get the final audio for most ghosts.

The Ghost in the Kitchen is the easiest ghost to complete, as it doesn't have any archive notes and is only active in one room. The ghost can be completed in one investigation if you have enough patience. It's a playful poltergeist who's known to throw things around in the kitchen. Tammy writes in her email that the poltergeist causes a "ruckus", and once she threw a jam container on the floor, the mess disappeared when Tammy grabbed a broom.

Investigation

This poltergeist can be found in the kitchen, as the name suggests. It is best to wait patiently for things to happen in the kitchen to collect everything. You'll hear the poltergeist throwing silverware, plates and pans around you. To collect audio evidence, make sure you record these sounds using your recorder. Although it may seem difficult to collect the EMF, temperatures, or photos, once you get a good understanding of the poltergeist's methods, it is possible. First, locate a temperature drop. Wait for Conrad's notes to record it. The second step is to quickly grab your recorder and hit record when you hear a sound. You can quickly toggle (if you see an item being thrown. After the recorder has finished recording) to your camera, take a photo (Conrad will tell you about poltergeist activity if your photo) is taken before you switch to your EMF reader to gather EMF evidence.

Two photos of the poltergeist are possible to be taken.

The Shadowy Screamer is a good ghost to help new ghost hunters learn the basics of the game. Tammy describes the entity as having a "sinister disembodied" voice and notes that she can see shadows out of her eye in her email. The archive note reveals that the Shadowy Screamer was William Carter in his youth. William Carter was the original builder and owner of (, which he owned from 1902 to 1932. He also had many children with Alice Carter. A different archive note confirms that he had at least two children named Elizabeth or Thomas Carter who died from acute pulmonary tuberculosis. A police report from July 18, 1912 shows that William became very frustrated by the inability to provide effective treatment for his children. He was so frustrated that he attacked Dr. Willis with his bottle, a doctor he called Dr. Willis. He was likely unhappy after the death of his children. He wandered around the house looking for a way to save his children.

Investigation

The Shadowy Screamer fits easily into the second category of Intelligent Ghosts: Shadow People. As a shadowy man, you'll see him roam the halls of your house, mostly between the basement, main bathroom, living room and parts of the kitchen. If you want to concentrate on the Shadowy Screamer and not be distracted by the Ghost in the Kitchen, then stay in the basement or main floor bathroom. The Shadowy Screamer, like most Shadow People is very photogenic and will often appear before the player for many photo opportunities. If you get too close, he will scream "HELP ME!" It's easy to find temperatures and EMF for this ghost, as long as you are in the right place. Collecting all audio is the most difficult part of investigating Shadowy Screamer. The only exception is when he screams at us. The rest of his audio are faint whispers, so pay attention to them.

Skipping Child *Spoilers*

The Skipping Child is a ghost that merrily wanders about upstairs. Tammy mentions that her children had an imaginary friend in the form of a child their age when she moved into their upstairs rooms. She also heard footsteps downstairs while she was downstairs. The Skipping Child, unlike the other ghosts in her house, seems blissful unaware that she is being watched and is simply reliving a moment where she was happy skipping around. Conrad notes that the photo of a happy little girl is found in her archive note. A death certificate that shows Elizabeth Carter, a girl, died on August 9, 1912, along with Thomas Carter, from acute pulmonary tuberculosis, is also available. You can also collect audio evidence during your investigation that suggests she may have contracted the disease while in 3rd grade.

Investigation

All rooms upstairs can be used to investigate the Skipping Child. Once you locate the areas she is wandering in, temperatures and EMF can be easily collected. Her audio evidence is a combination of giggling and whispering, coughing, or labored breathing. These audio cues take longer to trigger than the Shadowy Screamer so be patient and wait for a few minutes in a room before moving on to another room. The photo is the most difficult to collect as she appears translucent and moves randomly between rooms. You can capture a photo by waiting in the hallway or upstairs living area until she appears before you. Once she starts skipping, she usually manifests in one the rooms.

The G.I. is one of the most tragic characters in the house. Ghost is an Intelligent who can answer Conrad's questions. Ghost is the most knowledgeable ghost and has the most audio evidence. It was discovered that he is Robert Connor. He is a veteran of the military who suffered greatly from depression and PTSD after he served in an unnamed conflict. Louise implicates that he was an alcoholic in the police report). This further hindered him from finding a steady job and living a normal lifestyle once he returned to his home. He lived with his mother Louise Connor and his father Paul Connor who owned the house between 1955 and 1983. Robert died at 37, despite his parents' best efforts to console him. He hanged himself in the garage where his father and mother spent time on September 9, 1961. His parents were shocked and guilty after discovering his body. Given that Robert had fond memories of his family and that his suicide resulted in a sudden death, it's not surprising that he ended his life as an Intelligent.

The G.I. Ghost can be found in the garage, which is separate from the house. You can easily find the G.I. to locate EMF and temperature. Ghost's location while he wanders around the garage. Ghost makes a choking sound and murmurs "Why me?" He will be more active if you give him a complete set of notes. The G.I. Ghost is the only ghost that allows you to record EVP sessions. He will answer six types of questions from your EVP question listing. He will not answer a question immediately. You will need to ask the same questions multiple times until you get a response. You won't be able collect all EVP responses if you don't have all of the notes you took before the investigation. You'll discover that he still suffers from inner demons and carries his love for his family through the afterlife. The G.I. Ghost photos can be tricky as he won't manifest unless you have all the relevant notes. You only have a few seconds to capture a photo of him before his disappearance, so make sure you have a camera handy. He will usually appear behind the player when he appears.
