Intro
Perk Collector is probably the most time consuming achievement to collect, in my opinion. From what I could tell, there are 7 categories and each category lets you level it up 10x. The categories are Begging, Busking, Crime, Scavenging, Street, Survival, and Work and Study. There’s also some miscellaneous perks you get from the dog.
Perk Categories
There’s not really anyway to keep track of what your level is for each category, but ultimately I ended up with 72 perks in all to get the achievement. To level up each category just do things in that category.
Stealing/Breaking into cars = Crime
Begging = Begging
Busking = Playing the guitar
Scavenging = Collecting trash, and searching trash cans
Street = sleeping on benches, interacting with other homeless (positively),
Survival = walking, eating out of trash, staying warm in winter
Work and Study = using the library, doing day labor, or working a regular job
Dog Perks = ‘Dog’ get a dog, ‘Love’ keep the dog a few days and he will love you. (In my run of CHANGE I kept the dog until the end so I’m not sure if you have to keep him to the end or not.)
Hints and Tips
I found out that you can purchase the magazines and they have a 1 in 3 chance of giving you XP towards a perk. My suggestion is to get in a good place, where you have a stable job and at least $150 in the bank for your apartment if your game goes south. Use your money to buy magazines any chance you get, and it will speed up the achievement process. I also recommend waiting to sleep outside until you have a steady income so you can take care of your dog. When you sleep outside you have a chance to encounter the dog.
Additional Notes
I also want to note that I had to load my game up after I got 72 perks because it froze (The game seems to get quite buggy once you get to a certain point so be warned.) When I reloaded the game, I was awarded the achievment. I did a bit of online research and there’s possibly 3 other perks you might need but I couldn’t find much info about them.
Joe’s Advice, Maggie’s advice, and Bill’s advice. I tried interacting with each of the characters on the street by ‘talking’ to them, but I didn’t receive any perks. They told me they didn’t know me, despite my street reputation being at 100. Good luck and if you find out something different let us all know in the comments.
