This guide will go a bit in-depth to ensure you’re able to get the most of the performance but your visuals might suffer.
Quick note
My specs is DONKEY compared to the minimum requirements yet I am hitting decent 40-50 fps using low settings and the following tricks.
i5-6400 2.70Ghz (Overclocked to 3.09) GTX 960 4gb VRAM 16gb ram 2667 mHz DDR4 Game installed on SSD 240gb 2560x1440 Main monitor
I’m only idle in the menu…
I would recommend getting the software “Timer Resolution”, basically a placebo in some circumstances but a 0.1% can do a difference.
In-game settings
All of these settings you will find within the menu. It’s bold to assume you haven’t assigned them to this.
Windows & Nvidia settings
Sorry, I do not have any specific advice for AMD users. 🙁
If you are using Shadowplay from Geforce Experience, turn it off. It may cause lag on lower end computers.
Go either with balanced or high performance. It’s up to you to choose the decision as it will use more power.
Battlefield 2042 config settings
The file PROFSAVE_profile is located in:
\Documents\Battlefield 2042 Open Beta\settings
It will look something like this
Don’t copy it 1:1
Open the file in notepad++, Visual Studio, etc or in normal notepad.
Change the following values to 0 (if they aren’t 0 already)
GstRender.AmbientOcclusion GstRender.AnisotropicFilter GstRender.AntiAliasingDeferred GstRender.AntiAliasingPost GstRender.Enlighten GstRender.FilmGrain GstRender.HighDynamicRange GstRender.HighDynamicRangeMode GstRender.LensDistortion GstRender.LightingQuality GstRender.MeshQuality GstRender.MotionBlur GstRender.MotionBlurEnabled GstRender.PostProcessQuality GstRender.ShaderQuality GstRender.ShadowQuality GstRender.SignificanceQuality GstRender.Stereoscopy GstRender.TerrainQuality GstRender.TextureFiltering GstRender.TextureQuality GstRender.TransparentShadows GstRender.UndergrowthQuality GstRender.VSyncEnabled GstRender.Vignette GstRender.WeaponDOF
In-game console
Put the following into the command console (It should open using the button left from “1” on your keyboard)
PostProcess.DofMethod None Render.renderresolution 0.9 (Can be changed down to any number from 1 to 0.1 if required)
PostProcess.DofMethod Circular (Default)
PostProcess.DofMethod None (Off)
For some reason BF2042 still has some Depth of Field even if disabled.
