Hello and welcome, Everything you need to know about Baldur’s Gate 3 – How to Create Custom Characters Singleplayer may be found in this guide. Take each step in accordance with this guidance.
Tips for playing single-player with many created characters.
Benefits & Disadvantages
Why would you choose to start with multiple custom characters?
Personal preference. It is overcoming paralysis when choosing a starting character, for example. It could be a Sorceress versus a Necromancer. Or, you might not like premade characters but love them.
There are many reasons why a second custom character is attractive.
What are some of the disadvantages of having a different character?
Due to the way they are created by faking that you are playing in a cooperative session, they can never be removed from your party and will always occupy the slots assigned. Because this slot is permanently occupied, you are unable replace the additional custom character with an optional premade partner character. This greatly impacts the atmosphere created by the game.
The value of each custom character is reduced significantly. For instance, three companion characters would react to each other, resulting in a three-fold interaction value.
Recommendation
It is strongly advised to play singleplayer, without additional custom character. Play the game through at least one time as the developers intended. This will allow you to appreciate the atmosphere of the game and its presentation.
The co-op mode is not an essential part of the gameplay in this game.
This is how to do the job
Start the Game and create a Multiplayer Session via LAN.
Start another instance of a game by directly using the executable.
This is how to find the executable of the game that you can use without Steam and the Larian Launcher.
Right-click in the game’s Steam Library entry -> Manage -> Browse locally files
Enter the subfolder Bin (trivia, that is shorthand binary)
Double-click (or Enter) bg3_dx11.exe OR choose bg3.exe.
You can run as many instances you need to complete this task. Baldur’s Gate is compatible with up to four Baldur’s Gates, as long as your computer can handle it.
Join the LAN by using the other session
Once you’ve set each additional session to Ready, launch it from the host. Now you will proceed to the creation of each custom character. You can recognize your host character based on its ability at the bottom left to kick out any other instance.
With the game having successfully started, and all extra additional custom characters are accounted for in game, close all non-host-instances, and Leave only the first host-instance (game) open .
Then, save the game as you would any single-player game on your host instance.
You can now enjoy a single-player regular game with additional custom characters whenever you load your save game. Don’t forget to bind them together so that your other custom character from the fake coop game will follow you automatically.
