Assault rifles
1. R-301 Carbine
Ammo: Light
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Light Mag, Assault Rifle Optics, Standard Stock, Anvil Receiver
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 14/25/11
Mag Size: 18
RPM: 810
Body DPS: 189
Projectile Travel Speed: 29,000
Fire Modes: Auto, Single
The R-301 has been the go-to assault rifle in Apex Legends since launch, and after every update the game has seen, it’s still the best option. Outside of a slight boost in Season 3, the weapon has remained unchanged, which is a good thing. It fires fast, has little recoil, and can be outfitted with a slew of attachments.
2. Hemlock
Ammo: Heavy
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Heavy Mag, Assault Rifle Optics, Standard Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 20/35/15
Mag Size: 18
RPM: 380/384
Body DPS: 120/128
Projectile Travel Speed: 27,500
Fire Modes: Burst(3), Single
The Hemlock is the bigger, badder version of the R-301. It’s not as agile but makes up for it when it comes to damage. You’re looking at nearly twice the damage as the R-301 with the same mag size. That said, it isn’t full auto, which makes the overall fire rate lower.
3. Flatline
Ammo: Heavy
Slots: Extended Heavy Mag, Assault Rifle Optics, Standard Stock, Anvil Receiver
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 19/32/14
Mag Size: 20
RPM: 600
Body DPS: 190
Projectile Travel Speed: 24,000
Fire Modes: Auto, Single
The VK-47 Flatline, when used correctly, can be a very powerful weapon. The damage is better than the R-301 and it features a full auto mode. It suffers from intense recoil, though, so make sure to switch over to single-shot mode if you need to pick off an enemy at range.
SMGs
1. R-99
Ammo: Light
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Light Mag, SMG Optics, Standard Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 11/17/9
Mag Size: 20
RPM: 1080
Body DPS: 198
Projectile Travel Speed: 21,000
Fire Modes: Auto
The R99 is meant for close range combat and can shred opponents with a level 3 armor in a matter of seconds. Grabbing a horde of light ammo and good modifications shouldn’t be hard, and players can pack a lot of firepower with this gun.
2. Prowler
Ammo: Heavy (Unique)
Slots: SMG Optics
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 15/23/12
Mag Size: 35
RPM: 685/795
Body DPS: 171/199
Projectile Travel Speed: 18,000
Fire Modes: Burst(5), Auto
The Prowler deals more damage than the R-99 but at a slower rate. Five-shot burst fire means that this weapon deals significantly less damage per second. If you can get your hands on a Selectfire hop-up, though, you can fire in full auto, making it the best SMG in the game.
3. Alternator
Ammo: Light
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Light Mag, SMG Optics, Standard Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 16/24/13
Mag Size: 19
RPM: 600
Body DPS: 160
Projectile Travel Speed: 19,500
Fire Modes: Auto
The Alternator has always struggled to shine behind its big brothers the R-99 and R-301 in the Light class, but there’s a time and a place for the slow-firing SMG. In fact, the Alternator actually does the same damage per bullet as the R-99.
LMGs
1.Devotion
Ammo: Energy
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Energy Mag, LMG Optics, Standard Stock, Turbocharger
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 16/32/12
Mag Size: 36/41
RPM: 300~900
Body DPS: 80-240
Projectile Travel Speed: 33,500
Fire Modes: Auto
The Devotion has long been an excellent LMG, so much so that Respawn moved it to a crate-only status in Season 4. Now, you can only find the weapon in a crate with its own special ammo, meaning the gun is only good for as long as the mag lasts. However, it’s also equipped with the Turbocharger, so you don’t have to deal with the wind-up time.
2. L-Star
L-STAR EMG
Ammo: Energy
Slots: Assault Rifle Optics, Standard Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 18/26/14
Mag Size: Infinite (Based on Energy Ammo reserves)
RPM: 600
Body DPS: 180
Projectile Travel Speed: 22,000
Fire Modes: Auto
The L-Star is an energy weapon without a set mag size. Rather, it fires an energy beam at opponents that will eventually overheat the gun. It’s best used in short bursts, dealing some serious damage to the body or head. Don’t go too far, though, or you’ll have to deal with the L-Star’s lengthy reload time.
3. Spitfire
Ammo: Heavy
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended LMG Mag, Assault Rifle Optics, Standard Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 18/36/14
Mag Size: 35/40
RPM: 540
Body DPS: 162
Projectile Travel Speed: 27,500
Fire Modes: Auto
The Spitfire continues to be one of the best weapons in the game simply due to its massive magazine capacity and potential and mid-range.
It has decent damage per shot, good choices for modifications and doesn’t require a lot of skill to be lethal with. This gun is commonly found all over the map and ranks as a viable option in multiple situations.
Shotguns
1. EVA-8 Auto
Ammo: Shotgun
Slots: Shotgun Bolt, Shotgun Optics
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 63/99/54
Mag Size: 8
RPM: 126
Body DPS: 132
Projectile Travel Speed: 16,000
Fire Modes: Auto
The EVA-8 Auto shotgun is an excellent gun that can be used at all levels of play. The damage may be lower than the other shotguns, but its 8-round clip can give you the firepower needed to quickly drop an enemy before reloading. Make sure you have plenty of shotgun shells on hand if you plan to barrage your foes with a hail of bullets.
2. Peacekeeper
Ammo: Shotgun
Slots: Shotgun Bolt, Shotgun Optics
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 99/121/77
Mag Size: 55
RPM: 44
Body DPS: 73
Projectile Travel Speed: 16,000
Fire Modes: Single (Triple Shot), Single
Respawn’s Peacekeeper is a classic lever-action shotgun that boasts a deadly 6-round clip which deals impressive headshot and bodyshot damage. The spread of each shot makes landing lethal hits with the Peacekeeper incredibly easy, so make sure you pick it up whenever you see it on the battlefield
Sniper rifles
1. Kraber
Ammo: Sniper (Unique)
Slots: None
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 145/435/116
Mag Size: 4
RPM: 36
Body DPS: 87
Projectile Travel Speed: 29,500
Fire Modes: Single
The last crate-only weapon, the Kraber .50 Cal deals the most single-shot damage out of any weapon in the game. Even a leg shot is enough to take down an unshielded enemy, while a headshot can deal with the toughest armor in the game. You only get a few shots with the Kraber, though, so use them wisely.
2. Sentinel
Ammo: Sniper
Slots: Extended Sniper Mag, Sniper Optics, Sniper Stock, Deadeye’s Tempo
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 70,88/140,176/63,79
Mag Size: 4
RPM: 32
Body DPS: 37/46
Projectile Travel Speed: 31,000
Fire Modes: Single
A Sentinel with a headshot can fight most enemies with a single blow, and better yet, because the nature of the Sentinel with latch action means you won’t shoot fast. If you’re up against a heavily protected opponent, the Sentinel can use up one of your Shield batteries to recharge, destroying armor in a single shot.
3. Longbow DMR
Ammo: Sniper
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Sniper Mag, Sniper Optics, Sniper Stock
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 55/118/44
Mag Size: 6
RPM: 78
Body DPS: 72
Projectile Travel Speed: 30,500
Fire Modes: Single
The Longbow DMR is a straight upgrade to the G7 Scout, delivering semi-auto action and a much higher damage profile thanks to its use of heavy ammo. The Longbow DMR’s only downside is its 5-round magazine, but the damage per shot and five attachment slots more than make up for this.
Pistols
1. Wingman
Ammo: Heavy
Slots: Extended Heavy Mag, Pistol Optics, Quickdraw Holster
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 45/97/41
Mag Size: 6
RPM: 156
Body DPS: 117
Projectile Travel Speed: 18,00
Fire Modes: Single
The Wingman is an honorary shotgun, though its technical title is a pistol. It deals massive damage with each shot. Sure, the mag size is limited, and the recoil is high. But with how much damage each shot deals, that hardly matters. A pistol is usually handier in a sidearm slot. But we’d be comfortable going into battle with a Wingman as our main.
2. RE-45
Ammo: Light
Slots: Barrel Stabilizer, Extended Light Mag, Pistol Optics, Quickdraw Holster
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 12/18/11
Mag Size: 16
RPM: 780
Body DPS: 156
Projectile Travel Speed: 19,500
Fire Modes: Auto
At face value, the RE-45 may look a lot weaker than the P2020, but its 15-round magazine and full-auto functionality allows you to fire off a lot more shots. As a result, the RE-45 can give players the edge needed to survive an early-game encounter.
3. P2020
Ammo: Light
Slots: Extended Light Mag, Pistol Optics
Body/Head/Leg Damage: 18/27/16
Mag Size: 12
RPM: 375
Body DPS: 113
Projectile Travel Speed: 18,500
Fire Modes: Single
The P2020 is a standard Apex Legends pistol and is an average of how many pistols it can get. It has a magazine of 10 bullets and uses light circles, so don’t expect huge amounts of damage.Just use it during early-game loot scramble.
