How to calibrate properly

A well-lit environment is essential for proper calibration. As much light as possible is necessary to illuminate your face. Calibration quality will be affected by lighting major differences between your right and left sides. For the entire calibration process, keep your head down and look at (screen and not) camera.

Tips and Tricks for Better Tracking

Here are some tips and tricks that will help you get the most out of Animaze’s tracker.

Lighten your face from the front. Avoid illuminating your face from the side or putting the light source behind your face. Animaze tracker can't interpret shadows and backlighting.

Over-illuminating or under-illuminating your face with too much or too little light will cause it to glow too brightly. Both extremes can cause the tracker to misinterpret features due to improper light distribution. To monitor your lighting, we recommend that you use our user feed at the top left corner.

Your head should cover approximately 50% of the camera feed height. To monitor your framing, we recommend that you use our user feed in the upper left corner.

Important factors are FPS and webcam resolution. We recommend that you choose higher frame rates and clear (images without noise or grain over higher resolutions. Higher resolutions won't necessarily yield better results but will consume more CPU. A resolution setting of 640×480 @30 will work, but a resolution setting at 720p @60 FPS will likely produce better results.

Recalibrate Animaze if the tracking is lost. When the tracking experience is not optimal, the "Calibrate” button will pulse blue light and require recalibration.

You will find Tracking Profile defaults in Settings > General. This feature provides presets for most web camera profiles. The High setting is recommended if your web camera can record 60 frames per second. The Mid setting is best for web cameras of medium quality. The Low setting is recommended for lower-end cameras that have poor lighting or jittery images.

Your camera should be in front of you or above your head. It should not be placed below your head.

Additional mentions

You can use the quick calibration option to reset your tracking settings. Animaze will change all settings automatically by doing this.

However, if you have spent a lot of time creating the perfect tracking settings, it is best to avoid the quick calibration option, as it will reset everything.
