Generalities
I’ll go over some basics, what buttons and functions you can utilize to your benefit.
As an impostor, you will have two basic functions; the sabotage and kill button, each having a particular and straight-forward role.
The kill button is reserved for eliminating crewmates; once the window of opportunity opens up for a clean, safe kill, make sure to capitalize on it.
The sabotage function is used to utilize the map, doors, task progress, and various points of interest.
The black circles show the doors located on the map ‘the Skeld’; the icons are universal, meaning the door icons will be the same for every map, serving the same function, closing doors. Use this to isolate crewmates and go in for kills or raise a concern about the people nearest to them!
Another tool utilized by the impostor side, use the vent function to trek the map unnoticed; the vent function is only reserved for impostors, so be careful when interacting with one!
Use it after kills to swiftly deescalate and lower the alarm of crewmates that find the body with a solid alibi!
Emergency meetings are commonly called after an impostor or crewmates reports a body. A discussion is triggered, allowing all people on board to discuss who the impostor is open! Use this to relay any information that you possess of the potential impostor; you may report a dead body by approaching it and clicking the REPORT button in the bottom right corner. You may also call a meeting by going to the designated button on each map and pressing it promptly.
Crewmate
Your main goal as a crewmate is to complete your tasks promptly and keep track of other crewmates to unravel the impostors’ identities potentially. There is no specific way to go about tasks, but a rule of thumb is to stick in large groups to prevent easy kills and/or double kills; being in a room with 4 other people is a relatively good position for a crewmate to be in, 2 potentially being impostors and 2 being crewmates, 3 including yourself.
Keep an eye out!
Some tasks give out visual queues, such as the garbage chute release and shield activation on the Skeld. People tend to forget about this and try faking their task on those specific spots which have visible queues.
Work together
It may seem at times as hard or impossible, doing your best to relay truthful information and persuade to vote the impostor out after collecting valid evidence is crucial. Communicate with other players, get positions, keep track of your surroundings, and move other mates!
Be smart!
Monitor other people, use visual queues to your advantage; the medbay scan and garbage chute task queues can let you know if the person is indeed a crewmate or not; use this to your advantage, stick to them to prevent the impostor from pick you off!
Impostor
Divide and conquer!
Use the sabotage function to your advantage, isolate groups of people and make themselves doubt one another; there is nothing better than having people turn against themselves as you keep quiet and pick them off one by one. Let the impatience of others take over and wait for a mistake, capitalize on one afterward!
Faking tasks
Fake tasks to your advantage, make your movement unpredictable, and continuously switch up. Doing circles around electrical and sitting on the cameras is not the best way to go about it; once again, the sabotage function plays a huge role, hide in plain sight and dish out damage from the inside, coordinate with the other impostor, if any.
Blame game
Let other crewmates blame one another, split them up by shutting chokepoints around the map and try to have control groups in which at least one person will make the wrong move getting the all suspicion the world, ultimately getting kicked.
