The key difference in endless mode is that upgrades can be taken multiple times, this leads to easily the best build possible, the glare build.
 
 
Best Character: Shana as they help you roll for more upgrades but any character can work.
 
 
Best Gun: Any gun, this build is based around the glare upgrade path which is not affected by the chosen gun.
 
 
The glare path starts with 25 damage to everyone within your vision range every 2 seconds. The 2 key upgrades are Intense glare, which doubles the damage of your glare, and Saccade which doubles the frequency of the damage. These upgrades also increase the range of the damage. With a couple of each of these, you do ridiculous levels of dps to every unit on screen, leading to a large circle of exp forming around your character.
